I have a feeling that they rewrote the scene with Jessica and Bella to include Mike and Jacob. I would bet the scene where Jacob is running is to save Bella when she is tempting her fate with those guys in Port Angeles. They seem to be setting up the triangle a lot more in this book, compared to the book and this would be a good way to show how much Jacob cares about her. JMO.
