Body doubles are used to set po lighting/camera angles etc - all the boring bits before the princials are brought out to do the actual shoot.
there were body doubles used in Twilight - there are fewshots of scenes being set uo with them on the twilight DVD
but overall agree with the sentiment - We want to see Rob shirtless in Volterra!

Ok...that's what I was thinking.....that this guy isn't a body double but a stand-in. Stand-in is the correct terminology if he's being used for the scene set-up and lighting checks. A body double is just that, someone whose body is used in place of the actor's for nude scenes.

There's a mention of him getting his chest hair removed and coloring his hair (on his head people...don't go there! LOL!) But, if he was going to be Rob's body double, why color his hair? I mean do we need him for back shots? Can't do a face shot....I think we'd know the difference. LOL! I'm assuming the doubling would be for the Volturi scenes, but, if that's the case, how are they going to shoot that? Bella is attached to Edward's hip throughout that scene, except when he drops her through the grate, and when they are in the lobby and she's in his lap. So, how're they going to use the body double? Unless it's for the sparkle scene....some close up of some kind, but then I'm back to the 'why color his hair' comment. Also, there are reports Rob has been working out, specifically for this scene. So, why a body double? IAnd if he is a body double, did Rob ask for this? Did the studio? I mean, these are the same people that asked Catherine if she could 'pretty him up.' LOL!!! I'm still leaning toward this dude being just a stand-in, and the blog is making it out to be more of a job than it is.

If you the the special feature bit on Twilight Catherine talks about the hospital scene (and others) but in the hospital Rob filmed most of that on his own so I would assume that maybe because of the hair on this guy he well be used as the back of edwards head for some scene where Bella is talking to him or something...

Body double, stand-in, stunt-person, these people do the difficult, not so glam parts of the production. As several people have posted, the double does the blocking, lighting and set-up for the actor so the actor can be "off-camera" working on lines and other scene contructs with the director or other major actors in the scene. Do any of you think that Rob or Kristien would be standing around for a couple of hours working to set-up a scene? No, they are in their trailers or on set working on other aspects of the scene. Personally I believe this guy is just the same height, possibly weight and minimal appearance so the camera guys can get all the shooting set-up, once done Rob steps in and the camera rolls. End of subject. It will be all Rob that we see, except for any life-threatening scences, remember Edward and Bella in the trees during the Dinner with his family scene, much of the tree scene was stunt doubles. Rob and Kristen were only slightly off the ground on a platform, and only in the trees a bit. I personally would love to see Rob's chiseled body shirtless and I believe that Crhis Weisz knows what us girls want, I don't think he will fail us.

Swinging from the the trees were the doubles and up the trees were doubles. They used cables. On top of the tree Rob and Kristen were waiting on the platform. They had to wear anchors and cables while they were up in the tree.

If you bought the Borders exclusive Edition Catherine Hardwicke the Director she mentioned about all those kind of things in her commentary. She mentions all her little tricks she had to do with the budget she had. Just like the Meadow Scene. It is actually a Golf Course. And it was shot in LA.

there is a HUGE difference b/w the 2 definitely! body doubles are used for close ups of sexy shots as far as I am concerned. IF that is what this guy is being used for...I PROTEST! Rob can do his own sexy shots :)

I'm still not convinced about not having a body double for Little Ashes. If that was Rob's body - he has tree trunk like thighs - thick and muscular. Have you seen him in jeans? - I'm not seeing tree trunk legs inside his pant legs with my x-ray vision......

But didn't they already shoot the scenes were Jane is torturing Edward? Rob talked about that in the ET interview, how they were going to do that. And Lainey has reported that the scenes were Edward is beeing thrown around in pain has already been shoot. But what do we know....? Just have to wait and see. But I feel confident that if this guy is beeing used for anything, we will never be able to tell the difference, so it really shouldn't matter, we will never be able to tell when it is Rob and when it's someone else, the magic of movie making.

I doubt there's a way to check it out,but just recently someone posted on imdb board early results for best breakthrough performance,kiss and movie. I doubt the numbers are accurate cause we don't know how reliable that 'insider' was but according to him Twilight was winning for best movie,R/K kiss was losing to Slumdog's kiss,Taylor was winning for best breakthough perf.(the latter is outrageous and travesty of justice) I don't believe this info but there's indeed so many Rob fans that take it for granted that he'll win so they don't even vote,or don't even care about those awards. you can vote as many times as you want(when you clear history after each voting)

the person who asked abotu if they are going to be at the mtv awards i think they will be there. and the body double thing it mostly for others to rehearse there lines. they are not going to film him. they need him just to stand there and look at the other body doubles. they also need to make sure where to have them standing. they only have a week to film for the italy scenes and they need to have them standing in the right places. they use body doubles for every movie and for every actor and actress even the best. they or not going to film him though just use him for rehearsals and stuff. and plus he might be stunt double and all.
