Honestly, I find it highly unlikely that vampires do NOT exist in some form or another. Probably not the undead stereotype, but in order for there to be so many similar legends in so many different cultures from thousands of years ago, there must be a sliver of truth to it. Kind of like how every major culture has their own version of the flood. It is safe to assume that something like that did occur because cultures that never interacted all came away with the same story. The probability of Hindu legend, Christian legend, Egyptian legend, Native American legend, and numerous other cultures all having the same story to tell without it being true is practically impossible. The legend of vampires is kind of the same, in my opinion :)

There was a really awesome documentary about it a while ago and how stories of Dracula originated... something to do with a rabies type virus and an infected guy and it caused him to go insane, bite people and have insomnia, etc. It was really interesting and caused it to go from there. And of course it started a few centuries ago like any good story. But yeah, I believe that there's truth behind all myths and legends from all cultures and because vampirism, sacrifices, etc, have stories told all around the world, there's got to be some fact behind a lot of the fiction :)
If only I could find that documentary...

Well, I am pretty sure, they're are no human vampires but leeches are and other blood sucking creatures, also crazy cults who like to drink blood, don't know why, that's sick! It doesn't make it real, but we would never know if there were.

Last of all, someone would have got attacked/missing and they might find vampire attacks going on and then the whole world population would become vamps by now.

Unless if there are vampires which don't bite their prey but kill them, like one person a day for a vampire, still unlikely as humans would keep on getting wiped out and they would be in the news by now, just like swine flu except vamp disease or something.

So the day I believe in vampires, is when it's real and publicized.

i dont see how this article can be 100% true. first off, vampires can only compensate for their death rate by creating new ones, which apparently they end up killing in the end anyways. secondly, we can repopulate by giving birth, which vampires cant. so basically in the end, they cant take over the whole population unless they went crazy and killed people more than they should and chad some huge compassionate personality like the cullens and could create vampires very successfully. so i do not believe in this article AT ALL.

Vampires do exist....The legend of the vampire has been around 1000's of years. However, real life vampires are not like the ones discribed in the Twilight books, nor do they have super strength and amazing good looks (Lord knows I wish they did...LOL!) but there are those around who have an addiction to drinking blood. So in a way, they do exist!

basiiiiiiically, i was in my field watching the horses when suddenly these 3 or 4 deer appear and the horse watch them, since they are scared of deer. Then the deer just run as fast as they can alway and the horses began to freak out (like the sensed something, because horses are very good at that) and these 3 people came down the hill. They were quite far away but they were DEFINATLEY not young. I jumped off the fence which made a rattling which i heard but was too quiet for them to hear, and was going to go in for a closer loook when BAM they all disappeared. Its a dead end so i should have seen them come out. The horses eventually calmed down but i will remember it...

just in my land...i a tree had fallen on to the road near by so i while my step-dad was fixing it i just watched the horses and made sure they were okay.

I did all this research, and asked all my neighbours if they had seen anyone and/or heard about it, and (my land is private) they said it wasn't deer culling season, or pheasant culling season, and there is no way on to my land without that permission.

Physicists don't just look at that aspect... there are environmental, statistical and many other kinds of physicists the type you are thinking of is more the mechanical( Newtonian)

however I've looked at the article and no where does it take into account the killing aspect of a vampire.. they only look at one model, characteristic and myth of vampire

It all depends on the job. I guess I could best be described as a biochemist.

But really I'm just a lab rat, science junkie. My degrees are in Molecular Biotechnology and microbiology. I minored in chemistry and I love newtonian physics. I plan to go back to school in a couple years and become Dr. Kimoppi... but I have to wait until funding for MY field is increased. I've already lost two jobs this year due to funding cuts (or rearrangement from medical research to environmental).

It just goes to show... even REALLY REALLY smart scientists read Twilight Saga too. ;-)

I watched a whole program on this. My favorite was of the "Blood Countess" that was responsible for how many untold deaths of young virgins in the 1500 hundreds I think it was...she used to drink and bathe in their blood thinking it would keep her young and beautiful(They estimate her count of victims in the hundreds...possibly thousands).....theres a whole section on it in a Book I read called "Mistresses of Meyhem"

There's a good chance they got paid for this, but not in the way you think.

A lot of funding goes to more THEORETICAL studies. Sometimes all you can do is crunch numbers and present your thoughts. Maybe they were trying to determine the possibility of how quickly one population could decimate another? In this case, one requirement of the funding source could have been that they had to try and bring more attention to their field of study/school/methodology/etc so they did that by using a topic that was finding its way back into the popular culture.
