Well, I never saw Slumdog, but I did see them take over the damn Oscar's like no one's business so that meant it was good. I just never felt compelled to see it, I have no idea why. Okay, I might sound biased. But I voted for Twilight. Besides the fact that I am a hardcore Twilighter, I just think it deserves it. Okay, it wasn't a masterpiece, we all know that. But I never compared it to the book, I just looked at it with fresh eyes. I just don't think people get "The book will NEVER be the movie"...ever. I loved it regardless. I mean also, they didn't have the budget that New Moon has. If they did, it would've been 10x better! We need to think about certain factors. I look at Twilight like a jewel that I keep close to my heart because it was made after one of the greatest stories I read in my life! It's almost like an honor to have it, knowing that it was almost denied in the beginning. So I'm grateful for that. Also, unless you have been under a rock for the past year and 1/2 or more, YOU KNOW what Twilight is. Even though you haven't seen it or read it. Meaning, Twilight is the BIGGEST phenomenon right about now and it's going to continue until Breaking Dawn is finished and then some. ALSO, MTV friggin' sponsers Twilight and half the people who work there ARE Twilighters. Have you been watching the commercials? Every other commercial is announcing Twilight. Remember, FANS voted for the nominees. Which means Twilight wasn't AS bad as some people like to think. I mean, Twilight will win if not all (we can't get THAT cocky) MOST of those awards. I love Twilight and I'll back it up 100%!! I voted for Twilight over Dark Knight (and I loved DK!), because...I LOVE TWILIGHT!! Like I say all the time, We should be the "Slumdog" for the MTV Movie Awards!!

The STORY of Twilight is amazing BUT we've all discussed MANY times on this site that Hardwicke did a terrible job with the movie... although I personally loved the movie bc I'm a Twilight nerd... it really wasn't that great... if the category was Best Story made into a movie.. then def. Twilight would win... (Okay you guys can yell now.. lol)

I agree, and sorry but Slumdog is the better movie. But, I still voted for Twilight, just because I think it will be cool to see a little, Indy, low budget film win the award and prove just how many fans it has.

Disclaimer: This is just my opinion.

Slumdog was a blockbuster film; most likely the most celebrated film of 2009. You have to remember Twilight has a target audience. I think Twilight has nothing on Slumdog to be honest, and I hope Slumdog wins. In the end Slumdog helps to open eyes and minds, and delves into the human psych and is honest and compelling. Twilight is a fun movie, but nowhere near as serious as Slumdog.

I totally agree...I saw Slumdog and was amazed and it inspired me a lot. Granted, I love twilight, i could watch it many times, but hardwicke wasnt that great. I'm hoping chris does a much better job and im sure he will. However, Twilight cant beat Slumdog...its such a powerful movie. It's not just about a guy who wins $1 million on the show, it goes through his tough life and what it is really like over there. No doubt, hands down, my vote is for Slumdog.

ok i change my mind....i went to the mtv website and saw aw the choices...im voting for Black Night, hands down. No not just bc of Heath Ledger, but the movie overall was a-ma-zing! Not to mention I love batman (my fav super hero). :-D

Okay, I agree the movie kinda sucked. But the storyline was there. Besides that wasnt even the question the question was who would take more awards and as much as I know Slumdog was a better movie. Slumdog millionaire was a one-time watching experience for me, too depressing, not my cup of tea. Twilight i watch over and over. It may not have been exactly like the book, but since I saw movie first, i was able to appreciate both separately. I don't get how people are on a New Moon Website saying they voted for Slumdog? Go to a slumdog site and say that. I came to this site because I"m the biggest fan of this series, not to diss it. Twilight had the most impact and New Moon has the most hype and Robert Pattinson went from no name to overnight sensation. This movie changed everthing and deserves to win. An Oscar? No. An MTV movie award? Hell, yeah. MTV awards have always been about awarding those blockbuster movies we love that get friggen ignored at the oscars, like Harry Potter and Transformers. I would never vote for anything but Twilight.

So what you are really saying is....we can't have a different opinion about Twilight the movie? We all must think it was absolutely perfect, fabulous, breath taking, and amazing? Nevermind most of us are fans of the saga. Otherwise we wouldn't be here.

What really you should be thinking about if you are being so fair with your opinion is why in the heck would you vote for taylor for breakout star when he had like 5 minutes of screen time? Robert Pattinson is the definition of breakout star for this movie and Taylor now won't be elligible to get breakout next year because he's in it this year. So you voted for taylor because he was the breakout star in Twilight? I don't think so.

I voted for Taylor because, despite lack of time, I thought he did do better. One of the stand out scenes (one I find myself watching over and over) for me was the Jake/Edward chill stare. Taylor's acting in that scene sticks out for me. I adore it. His death stare was brilliant. I found Rob a tad annoying with the overacted faces. I couldn't get into the forest "I'm the predator...lion and lamb" scene because of the faces he made. Just my opinion. I am not voting for someone simply because they are a leading star of a film. I went by acting.

Fair enough. I for one loved Edward's/Rob's expressions, because they so beautifully portrayed his pained existence for being around Bella. I thought Rob made Edward into not just a pretty face but showed his extreme self control while all the while wanting to be with Bella more than anything. To me, it was portrayed flawlessly on screen. That's why I feel Rob totally deserves breakout star for making Edward a tortured soul. As for Taylor, I was hoping to vote for him for Breakout Star in New Moon, because I know he'll kick butt. I just didn't feel he made as much impact to the movie as Rob did. But we all sometimes see things differently. Anyway, I respect your opinion, but I just don't see MTV awards as necessarily in the same ballpark as the Oscars which is for excellence in acting or writing, but more for blockbuster appeal and surprise hit movies that everyone talks about. And I just get that from the past nominees and winners of these awards. That's why I wasn't understanding the comparison to Slumdog, because as we all know, those movies are so different in comparison. Slumdog is a critic's fave while Twilight was not. Twilight is a fan fave and that's how I view the MTV awards, so I voted Twilight. I just can't wait to see the New Moon Trailer.

I completely agree about the MTV awards. I do not think Slumdog will win, though I voted for it. I do not think Kate Winslet will win, though I voted for her. I really believe it will be Twilight's night. With the massive fanbase voting religiously I can't see it losing. I could be wrong. For me...I just cannot vote for something I do not feel. i didn't hear about until the golden globes and i live in one of the most populated cities in florida. we get almost everything besides the indie flicks like little ashes. what i mean is that in miami we have over thirteen movie theater places alone two in a less then two mile radius from where i am sitting.

i did saw both movies ... both my hubby & I liked both movies, maybe he liked Slum more than Twi. As he kept it pretty indian style most of the way through out the movie ...

Guys this is an award for a movie and personally i really think that the movie sucked. i know most of you font agree with me but kristen's acting was terrible. she was trying to act shy but she just came off as looking constipated. and melissa rosenburg completely screwed up the storyline and combined some conversations and left others out all together. Catherine screwed up whatever she could in the movie. honestly if it wasnt for rob,taylor, the rest of the cullens and cam the movie would have failed completely.

slumdog millionaire was a really good movie and touching and sweet. and there was no catherin hardwicke there to screw things up.

If this were an award for best story, hands down twilight would win. but based on movied. i vote slumdog.

They did pay the children, twice the salary anyone in India received in a week. To be fair I haven't seen Slumdog...I've tried...I went to the movie store, tried to rent it....and then I see those sweet faces and picture those same kids living in boxes now (if their lucky) and I just cant watch it. At least I know our beautiful Twilight cast is happily, busily filming now.

The Twilight Saga has created a massive amount of die-hard and dedicated fans, for this reason I think Twilight will win best picture. Under the circumstances given for the movie, it actually was pretty damn good.
But I still think that Slumdog should win. But it won't because of all the Twilight fans and let's be honest, we're all a bit biased about it.

I'm going to stand with you to be punched. I thought the actors were absolutely FANTASTIC- very very well cast and some of the shots were beautiful, but overall, the screenplay (dialogue) was almost laughable compared to the book. I cringed at parts.
I think awards could definitely be given out for acting/best kiss, etc. though, as there were definitely some great parts/acting. Just overall, I felt the script/screenplay was inferior to the book.
I'm very excited to see what they do with New Moon. I"m hoping for a LONG, DETAILED movie!!

Good thing the fans get to be the judges. The movie world politics didn't give Twilight a chance at the last awards show. I was sick because it didn't get what it deserved. I liked Slumdog Millionaire, but loved Twilight so there's no big competition for me. I think referring to Heidi and Spencer as "celebs" is so ridiculously stupid, because they'll never be anything more than low lifes looking for attention.
