I'm going to take this conversation in another direction. I think his reaction to the bidding is why his fans love him. The humbleness, he said to start at $75 if I heard him right. I think he wanted to run off the stage when Weinstein was talking about his daughters and the bidding started.

Heck that was absolutely huge for as Weinstein to publically announce that he wants you in one of his movies... I mean an Oscar winning Producer!! OMG!! That was the news of the night people. Not only about the humbleness but also about how good it is to have someone like Harvey Weinstein to say such a thing.
Actually that's what caught my attention when he was in Cannes: the good impression he seems to have made on some people in the business. Not only Weinstein but Sharon Stone had nice words for him at the end too, and Denisot and Cantona (at Le grand journal) commented favorably on his personality (not that these 2 are important carreer wise for him but imo it shows that he made good impression on these 4 persons and if he did on these persons, he's probably made a good impression on other influent people he met which we don't know about).

He's so awesome and modest! I would love for someday to meet him. He just seems like he's really down to Earth and he's him. Like the limelight hasn't taken over him. He also looks very handsome as well. =)

I think he really did very great in Cannes. For an actor very young and who became so famous only a few months ago, he did a good job. He got the recognization of the general public (look at all the screaming when his name was announced on the Marches), he got the attention of the paparazzi (and as much as paparazzi are usually a nuisance, I think in Cannes, that's a way to estimate the stars' popularity, what celeb would go to Cannes and be happy with the paparazzi leaving them alone? I'm pretty sure some celebs over there might be jealous of the attention Robert got lol), most importantly he got to mingle with the upper crust of Hollywood and meet powerful people. All in all, I'll say way to go Robert!

Robert is way above this. Just in talent alone. I won't even mention his looks. Brad is a few years older then me and when he first started getting big I just didn't see it. Still don't.

Couldnt agree more. He has proven with his small independant low budget films that he has a great acting ability. The hollywood blockbusters are only as good as their scripts, when he has something to really work with he shines.

He wont be the next brad pitt (god forbid - cant stand the man, and i gew up with the pitt phenomenon). He is reminds me of Johnny Depp, a few blockbusters but lots of quirky unusual roles for a typical teen heartthrob. He will end up with a cult following, and some of the teen fame will drop away, as he matures. It can only be a good thing, he will get the respect he deserves as an actor rather than a pin-up.

Maybe my views are different from most of you guys because i'm older than most (29), and from the UK, where the celebrity buzz isnt quite the same.
