urgh! she ruined twilight and now she wants to ruin maximum ride too! and i was looking forward to the movie of that coming out!

I love maximum ride!!!! it used to be my favorite until twilight came into my life....
but i sort of don't want her to direct it because, i thought that twilight changed too much from the book... i don't want her to do that to ride

I love Maximum Ride! But I don't think that Rob or Kristen would be fit for any role, no offense. I mean they're too old to play 14/15 year old kids. But hamlet would be great. We just studied the play at school and I'm thinking that Rob would be a perfect hamlet. Kristen for Ophelia, I'm not so sure about.

Actually I read the books she is talking about making into a movie and they are supoer interesting and the story line is awesome. Although I don't think ANY twilight actors/actresses fit the mold of the characters, it will still be a great movie.

Okay...i'm so tired of hearing about how Catherine sucks. I get it if you don't like the movie, but some people have just gone over board with their rants. I really enjoyed the first movie for what is was. Yes, it could use some improvements, but I thought the movie was overall pretty good. Catherine is not a horrible director, some of her other movies were awesome. Thirteen for example was terrific. I would be really excited to see her work with Rob or Kristen and any other members of the Twilight cast in the future.

The Maximum ride books are a very good read. I hope that movie does the book justice..unlike the twilight movie. Although i love anything twilight and watch it anyways. I cannot wait for new moon!

I agree, the James Patterson novels are good, RP and KS should not be in this movies, too old, too stiff, too self conscious about themselves, I could see Lautner(?) as Fang.

You can't direct squat, Catherine Hardwicke. Stay the hell away from Rob and Kristen, they've moved on from your poor adaptations of novels and into a world of PROFESSIONAL movie making. I'm so glad you had conflicts with New Moon filming, or else we would have yet another terrible movie that was directed by a ditzy, hippie, pothead. At least Chris Weitz knows what the story is about and how to make it the best it can possibly be. You on the other hand, think that saying "I love you" didn't fit in the first movie. wtf. Also, Rob and Kristen together as the main characters in another series is a terrible idea. As a "director", she should know that. They've already defined themselves as being Bella and Edward when onscreen together, so when people see them together as the leads in a completely different series, they're gonna still see them as Bella and Edward. I know that other actors have done this in the past, but it just seems different with Rob and Kristen. Ever think of hiring someone new for your newest bad-adaption movie? Geez. I love the MAXIMUM RIDE series, I was soo pissed when I found out Catherine was gonna direct the movie adaption! As for IF I STAY, I've never read it...sooo yeah.
Rob couldn't be in Max Ride, he doesn't fit any part, but maybe Kris could play Maximum Ride, the main character aka Max (who is A GIRL not a guy). A lot of the MR fans are against her for Max cuz of her performance in Twilight, but I think she would be okay (and her looks are good for the role too).
And Twihards, plz don't make fun on Max Ride cuz of its "bird kid" description. Sure there are bird kids, but it isn't like how you're thinking it 's like.

I read IF I Stay... I dont think none of them fit to the characters of the book.. Is a sad book I cried my eyes out...

I agree. By Catherine's description, the MR series seems stupid and not worth it to make a movie. I mean, bird kids, ha. But I've read and own all five books and they are amazing! A few strange plots here and there, stupid names for the bad guys and whatnot, but still! James Patterson has written some of the best books I've ever read and the Maximum Ride series is probably his best.
Personally, I really don't think any of the Twilight actors should be in the MR movies for multiple reasons. For instance, Max and Fang are supposedly about 14 or 15. Rob and Kristen don't look that young!
Lastly, I also was also taken back when I heard Catherine was directing Maximum Ride. Many people thought she did a lousy job with Twilight. Why go on with another major motion picture??? She's only known because she directed Twilight.

I have never really sorted out in my head what it is that all of you hate about CH? You all seem to love the movie? She didn't write the script so it can't be that... the casting was brilliant, the colours and settings were great, she did really well on a teeny tiny budget and we haven't seen New Moon yet so can't compare...

I agree. Her version of Twilight isn't perfect but it does have it's good points. I think she tried to stay true to the essense of the story and the characters and her casting instincts were right on. She saw something in Rob, Ashley, and the rest that others with less vision questioned.

She kept Stephenie Meyers in the loop with the movie, encouraging her input.

She worked with strict budget and time constraints. Yes, I don't agree with all her decisions (They didn't say "I love you"? What was that!) Overall, I think she got the job done and didn't do a half-bad job.

I love the Maximum Ride books and think Kristin would make a kick ass Max, but why do they have to ruin another series with Catherine Hardwicke! Ugh. I don't really see Patz fitting in though.

I honestly have to say that before I ever read twilight and loved it...
I read Maximum Ride and loved it.
I actually did love those books, and I always hoped they would be a film one day as it sounded like they would transfer well to a movie.
But in all honesty... if I truly said what I know, she is not a great director and they are not great actors! I find it impossible to imagine them 2 in any other film, they make every scene awkward, if you knew somebody like them in real life you would want to run and hide from their almighty awkwardness. They cant be allowed to ruin another great book. I can imagine a 101 better fitting people. If you watch twilight and another high earning film, you will realise how unskilled the actors are. They havent developed their own acting styles, and seem to have adopted eachothers blank personalities and infuriating pauses and stumbles when speaking. I hope that they find better fitting actors.
I am absolutely not dissing twilight, believe me I love it.

Finally, someone who agrees that Catherine Hardwicke epic FAILS at casting! Kristen Stewart as Bella was just someone I didn't imagine fitting the part, and neither with Rob. I know a lot of people got to know and love him as an actor, but even as I rewatch Twilight, I can see that a lot is to be desired in a lot of the actors screen presence.

I constantly use Ashley Greene as an example of this- she plays Alice, a fan favourite, whilst Nikki Reed took on the much more challenging role of Rosalie. Really, as I watch Ashley's acting, she reminds me of my little sister (12) in a Christmas play last year. So stiff in the fact that she is trying to be lovely. Admittedly, she's a beautiful girl with a great personality- just certain aspects of her acting I don't necessarily agree with. However, with Nikki Reed, it couldn't be much more different. When I see her act as Rosalie, I can totally see her become the character. She does such an incredible job as Rose with portraying that underlining disrespect for Bella, and does a fantastic job all around- her hutzpah at continued even after she sliced her fingers open with that "break-away" (nice work, Catherine) just cemented her committment to me. She became my favourite Twilight girl because, in my opinion, she was the only person that was casted right. Aside from Taylor and him almost BEING Jacob Black, Nikki did the best job I saw.

Who they really need for "Maximum Ride" is Peter Jackson or Chris Columbus.

The "Max Ride" novels by James Patterson are awesom, fantasy that are well told ( author James Patterson wrote, Along Came a Spider, Kiss the Girls and the Alex Cross novels). By the way, Stephen King also said this author couldn't write, yet James Patterson has taken over most of SK's fan base.

The Max Ride series is an awesome fantasy story about a group of kids that were experiemental subjects raised in a laboratory that resulted in their ability to fly (actually have wings) a couple of the kids also have kinetic or mental abilities.

Max, the leader of the young group is a very strong and determined young lady, whose taken on the responsibility of overseeing the safety of the "flock".

Okay, when I first read the post, i was extremely angry. I mean, c'mon...birds and teenagers?!? Why would Rob and Kirsten want to do that?!? So, I'm thinking Catherine's crazy or something...but the more I think about it, I can't really judge. People can say the same thing about Twilight...Vampires and werewolves!?!...imprinting and babies! Mind-reading, etc. So anyway, I'm now calm and I will not judge. :)

Ok, back up, I read a book so so very similiar to this years ago - flying bird kids and all. There was a teenage girl and somehow she winds up being freed from this institute,where she and other gentically mutated kids are held, by a vetinarian and some guy who's renting a place from her. It was set in the mountains somewhere and I swear the girl's name was Max and they called the institute "The School". But from reading bits about this series I can't find that particular story line in any of them...so someone got ripped off big time! In any event, the book I read was really really good. Yes it was out there and big time fantasy (but so is sparkling vampires, you must admit). Which makes me think Hardwicke should just bow out gracefully. Leave the supernatural thrillers to someone who can pull it off. I just can't get over my initial feeling that she should be working on the set of a soap opera somewhere...

That was When The Wind Blows or the Lake House both written by James Patterson (who wrote the Max Ride books). He wrote that first and then decided he liked the character and her story so he loosely adapted it into Maximum Ride.

The books are fantastic (well number 4 was crap but 5 was awesome) and so funny but Kristen Stewart cannot be Max...for one thing Max is 14 years old!!!

She does have the dry wit that Max has but that's about it. In my mind they look nothing alike.

Don't judge the book by it's summary...sparkling vampires sound ridiculous too and we all know how that turned out.

It's all about reading b/w the lines! The cast will say things like CH works better in "chaos" while the Chris is "calm". What they are REALLY saying is CH works like a FREAKIN PSYCHO/Amateur while Chris is a professional! I agree...the Twilight cast is being courteous to CH!

She did one good thing - she picked up the actors. Most of the actors in twilight fits just great! I don't ilke only rosalie,and maybe jasper. But edward,bella and CHARLIE (!!!) are just great. Maximum Ride are actually a very good series and to hear that Catherine is directing has made me so dissapointed. Most of the series is jam packed full of action and to be honest, Catherine isn't very good when it comes to fight scenes. She's better at directing indie films not big blockbusters.
Before Catherine was cast they were considering one of the directors from one of the Spiderman movies. I think most fans of the book would've prefered that.
The series is very different to twilight and there are no parts in which Rob or Kristen could have a role.
The main characters range from the age 6 - 14 years old. Unless they are going to change the ages completely or put some of the Twilight stars in a very small role, it will not work.

I can't possibly imagine Rob chosing to do a bird movie, he tells reporters that he doesnt even look at scripts that seem rediculus or out there so lets hopeeeee he doesnt dare decide he owes her that movie!!!!!!!

If I Stay is wonderful and the entire time I was reading it I thought, THIS IS CATHERINE. I picture Jackson Rathbone as Adam and Kat Dennings as Mia. I actually have the whole cast in my head, including Michael Caine and Judi Dench. A girl can dream. This is one I am looking forward to, especially with Cat on board.
