I have florence and the machines 'cosmic love' on repeat.....wud fit movie and soundtrack....sad, but with a lot of room for interpretation, dark, brooding but dramatic....plus it's relatively new and fresh....its never been released as a single, only on her album 'Lungs' which only came out in UK quite recently!

I'm curious to hear Empty As I Am. I like Kelly Clarkson, she has a great voice, but I personally think Sarah McLachlans Do What You Have To Do suits the break up scene. Paramore is a pop/rock band, and they did an excellent job ("Decode" is one of my favorite songs)!

Kelly actually has quite a few songs I have thought go well with the books in The Twilight Saga and Edward and Bellas relationship.

I think that too robaholic, some people think she's wanting to get on the soundtrack for money and fame, i don't believe that, like she needs it, she's already world famous, she doesn't need the saga to boost her career, plus she wrote this song years ago, i've loved her music for years and i like her song that did for newmoon, even if they can't fit it in the movie they could put it on the soundtrack :D

Rather than judging what songs should and/or should not be on the soundtrack, I'm going to say that it's GREAT to see the different artists inspired by the books...no matter what genre they may or may not fall under. Kudos to Kelly for finding inspiration in our beloved books!

Kelly's song "Haunted" is a pretty good song for New Moon as well.
As to those who are opposed to "pop" music for the soundtrack, give her a chance.
Her lyrics can be pretty deep and touch on emotions that everyone has felt at some point in their lives. Everyone wishes and wants to be a part of this phenomenon, and some are lucky enough to become a part of it. No one should begrudge anyone that desire.

I think it would be an incredibly terrible mistake to put anything pop on the New Moon or any of the Saga's soundtracks! Even if I didn't absolutely hate pop music I do not think pop has the right emotion for it to convey the feeling of the Twilight Saga! I really think rock is the way to go! I think they did an awesome job on the Twilight soundtrack, I love it so much, and I think they would probably stick to the same kind of sound for New Moon and the rest of the movies, or at least I hope they do!!! Anything from A Perfect Circle, Silverchair, Evaescence or Radiohead would be so awesome, all of these bands have so much of the right emotion for New Moon! Ever since it came out, I've felt that the song "Halo" by Beyonce is totally Jacob's anthem! It totally doesn't fit with the mood of the movies but almost every word in that song fits with how Jacob is practically Bella's savior.

i thought that, too. that song, and "my immortal" by evanescence. But they were both already used in a movie. dang.

If you like Evanescence listen to "Going Under" and "Taking Over Me", both by Evanescence and both so awesome and perfect for New Moon that it seems that they were specifically written for the movie!!! But you are right "My Immortal" would be perfect! Damn Elektra!!! LOL!
P.S. "Going Under" would be perfect for the cliff diving/drowning scene!!!

I suppose I would allow Evanescence. heh. I find them to be kinda mainstream, and I try to avoid that for the most part, but I admit they do have a lot of talent. And her songs do have a kind of creepy quality. Her voice could blow people away, literally. She's a freakin' powerhouse.

I take her over Justin and the Jonas, she can is just not pop, and not all of us are fans of the Indie rock, I'm a fan of the Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue bands, I also like some country. The songs should go with the mood of the story. And don't diss Idol, I happen to love Daughtry, David Cook and Adam Lambert. Don't be such a prejudice.

I have heard a great song by a new group called FAIRCHILD based out of Toronto, Canada. It is called Don't Say Good-bye. They are four brothers and their music is Alternative Rock. Take a listen at their Official Fairchild website and see if you think it would be a great addition to the soundtrack.

Ok, I just listened to it. Initial reaction, it is ok. It definitely does not have that bubblegum poppy feel that we don't want, so that's good. But it is really depressing listening to the lyrics, which would fit the film.

I have not heard the song yet, but I have always like Kelly Clarkson. She is pop, but she also has a rocker edge to her sometimes. So I don't think that it will be a devastation if she is on the soundtrack. As long as the Jonas Brothers and Justin Guarini isn't on there, I'm happy.

I really like her music, just don't think it's right for Twilight. I think these movies have more of an alternative kind of feel not pop.

The Twilight music was incredible...and generally I prefer an all-orchestral score, (John Williams, Howard Shore, Clint Mansell, etc.) But the Twilight music mit me on a whole new level. Supermassive Black Hole is awesome, and I still get chills every time I hear Eyes on Fire. Not to mention Let Me Sign. That's another thing that I loved about the album, it introduced me to great bands that I was previously unaware of.

That wasn't the hidden track...the hidden track came after that song ended and it was called "Chivas".

What bothers me is that everyone sees her as such a pop idol that they don't realize that she has the potential for having a perfect song for this series. If you listen to the music she writes and not the music she is forced to sing, it is very good.

I think as long as the song is kind of indie/rock genre, it'll be good for New Moon. She's an awesome singer so... :)

God, well I guess the winner of season 1 American Idol is a BIT better than a Disney fabricated star. I will respect enough to say she is decent in her area, but she is too much into the popular music scene for it to work in this film. I think everyone agress musicians for this series need, alternative style, kinda a mix of grunge-rock.

that'd be cool if they put the song in the movie.

They need to use Flyleaf's 'All Around Me"....... the lyrics, the feel... this songs would fit great. I first heard it and and out of no where I was like "this song would be GREAT for New Moon".... hopefully they consider it!

I totally agree with you. No pop!! Keep it rock. And besides the lyrics don't go great with the movie, and the song is way to repetitive. There are many other great songs out there that will actually do the movie justice.

With all due respect:
I really don't think the genre or status of an artist is that important. If the song is good and it fits why shouldn't it be in the movie? I really like Kelly Clarkson and not because she won American Idol, i honestly didn't watch the show then, nor do I watch it now. She is a wonderful singer/songwriter. Although we have absolutely no control over who gets on the soundtrack, I think the fair thing is to keep an open mind about it. If the song fits and sounds good why not? I've heard some songs by her that literally make me cry. The girl can sing.

I think that Kelly is a wonderful choice for the soundtrack, if you havent listened to "Cry", then i suggest you do because she can make sad songs, she can be rockish.

i will be devastatingly disappointed if the New Moon soundtrack has pop songs on it.... in my mind im seeing something more raw and full of emotion, Coldplay probably being the most mainstream thing that would fit, but NOT kelly clarkson.... >_< ugh... just the thought gets me upset :(

I know! I also heard Madonna was going to be on it. I was like WTF!? No way! She doesn't care about Twilight; Madonna only wants to make money out of the next big thing. If any of these pop artists are on the album I'll be heavily disappointed. They should hire unknown bands that really need New Moon to start their careers.

EVANESCENCE is my fav bad ever they so need to be on the soundtrack but i think kelly's vesatile enough to be on the soundtrack :/. specially if she wrote the song for it :D

that is true they should take the artist that sm have in her web site but who knows, i do like the twilight soundtrack, but i have to say that i like the lullaby but not the be "the lullaby" maybe as esme favorite but now they can't change it(one more think on my list of why i don't like ch) the one that is on sm site is amazing or river by the flow by yurima, they are more appropriate, so they could add them for the moon as esme's fav.

Thats wat i was thinking. I liked that about the Twilight album that they kept the music different from all the pop music. It sorta gives it the feeling that Twilight and the story is not really from this world and not something you come across every day. (or any day for that matter.) Kelly is pretty good though.
