New Moon’s Michael Sheen Receiving British Royal Honor

Michael Sheen OBE Order British Empire Buckingham Palace New Moon Volturi actor Michael Sheen is receiving a Order of the British Empire today, a lofty recognition from the British Royal Family that is just short of being knighted–

He portrayed Blair in Stephen Frears’ TV drama The Deal and later on the big screen in Frears’ award-winning film The Queen.

Having met the Queen as played by Dame Helen Mirren, Sheen will now come face to face with the monarch herself when he picks up his OBE today.

Sheen said after hearing of his award in the New Year’s Honours list: “This is a huge honour. I am both thrilled and slightly mystified. But very grateful. It’ll be nice to meet the real Queen at last.”

  • As brit can I correct everyone that seem to think he is Sir Michael Sheen now because he's not.

    He got an OBE and there are is one more honors below that which is an MBE. There are is one more above the OBE which is a CBE and then you have the two knighthoods - GBE and KBE.

    As Michael wasn't awarded a knighthood he is still going to be known as Michael Sheen. Only those that get the knighthood get to put Sir or for women Dame in front of their name.

    Anyway congrats Michael on being on the queens honors list and receiving your OBE!

    Sorry I'm not showing of.. my granddad was a WWII vet and loved the monarchy. He would go on and on about the royal family trying to teach me the history...some things went in some didn't. I totally get Michael being happy about meeting the queen, my granddad was giddy with happiness when he met a few years ago.
