I can tell he's wearing a wig... distracting. I prefer the dye job from Twilight, but other than that he's perfect in every way.

I prefer the dye job from Twilight too, but I'm thinking there was a reason behind him being wigged for New Moon. Maybe it was because of him filming other movies and tv shows where he needed his original dark hair, and dying his hair for New Moon might not have had time to fade.

I know that Nikki Reed (Rosalie) was wigged in this movie because when she bleached her hair for Twilight, it started falling out because it got damaged from the bleaching.

Peter and his wife Jennie Garth are doing a movie together, in which he needed his brown-ish hair color. Hope i could help :)

Not me. The blue tint was okay for Twilight, everyone knew they were doing their best with the low budget and all but I really like the warmer, brighter colors fot New Moon. All the pictures I've seen from it are fantastic!

This bronz color is a pretty healthy color for New Moon to me, except the Cullen's house. I think it should still have that blue tint to it!

Plus I just like blues and greens more than dry, dead colours like in New Moon.

Sorry, but I have to disagree.

I love that Catherine loved the Saga so much, but some of her ideas were just weird.

She went too much into the Harlen thing instead of focusing on Bellas/Edwards relationship.

Also, the "Spidermonkey" thing was weird at first, too. Now it's kinda cute, though.

Also, she was worried about the budget, but filmed scenes that made no sense that she knew she couldn't use.

Like Bella giving Edward "a taste". If anyone has read the Saga, they would KNOW that that is totally opposite of Edward's character. Catherine knew it, too.
It's like she just filmed it to get a little thrill of her own.

She could have used that money that she spent on that scene to film more scenes of Bella and Edward falling in love.
Or better makeup/wigs or something else than a scene she knew she wasn't going to use.

I feel that CW is doing a MUCH better job. He is keeping more true to the book, too, which Catherine strayed from too much.

I don't mean to hate on her too much.

This is the scene he was talking about at the movie awards. Where he breaks up with Bella in the rain. It was like 35 degrees and he was half naked with very cold rain water pouring down on him. It was a long scene too, he said about 4 minutes

For some reason my fave still is the Birthday one with Carlisle and Bella. I think all the emotion mixed with the colors is just amazing!

These stills are amazing.
When it comes to the birthday scene, that is really close to how I imagined the setting to look. It's gorgeous. From what I saw in the trailer, it is my opinion that the New Cullen house is a much better fit, at least in terms of what was described in the book. I know that continuity is important, but I want the Twilight saga to come to life, and it is my opinion that what Catherine Hardwicke did did not bring the best vision to life.
I think the expressions in these three stills are amazing. In the Birthday scene one, I love Kristen's expression. It is clear she is focusing on Edward, and already notices a change in his emotions. Carlisle is as protective and as caring as he always is. (I hope they include the conversation Bella and Carlisle have about Edward, with the flashback Edward's life, but I doubt they will.)
As for the still with just Bella and Edward, that is amazing too. I like how Bella isn't even looking at him, and how it is clear she is in shock. Remember people, she doesn't cry when he leaves, she is just coming to terms with the fact that he really is leaving her. I really like the fact that Edward is wearing the same outfit as in the birthday scene. Obviously he didn't bother changing his clothes, as he was depressed and mulling over what had happened with Bella, and made the decision to leave. I can't remember how much time is suppose to pass between the birthday scene and when the Cullens leave, but I think it is at least a few days in the book. Unfortunately, there are some things that have to be sacrificed, and for the sake of the movie, the emotion might come across better if he leaves right very soon after. Who knows, maybe it is still a couple days.
And yes, Jacob is hot, but I am still Team Edward all the way.

Sorry, but no. When Bella goes to Billy's to confront Jacob and finds him asleep, she says how innocent he looks when he is sleeping and not angry.

Plus, there is no way that the actor to play Jacob could be as tall as the Jacob in the books. It just would not have filmed right. Can you imagine seeing Jacob at 6'7'' bending over to try and kiss a 5'4" Bella? That's fine for the books, but in a movie it would have just looked freaky.

NONE of the Wolfpack are above 6 foot, maybe Sam is about 6'2''. It would be pretty much impossible for them to find a total of 15 Wolfpack members (when we get to BD) that are Native, gorgeous AND that tall.

I would have probably had to give up on the movies if they had recast Taylor, as good as he looks and as hard as he has worked. Especially if they would have gotten that Michael dude. He was very arrogant and cared nothing about the Saga, other than wanting to use it to get famous. He also looked WAY to old.

I am THRILLED that Taylor will forever be Jacob Black.

WHEN HE'S SLEEPING! Everyone looks more innocent when they are sleeping. But when he's NOT sleeping - which I imagine is going to be let's say 99.9% of the movie, it's a totally different story. Does that one line only stick out to you?

As for the 6'7, let's put that aside for now and acknowledge that Taylor can't even aspire to the 6'2 that he's supposed to be at 15. Someone at least close to Robert's size would have been much more appropriate, let alone believable. There is no way anyone is going to believe that Taylor's Jacob would be able to take anyone or hope to appear menacing with his stature.

You and others appear to be putting your lust and devotion towards the actor above the movie. And that's fine, I'm just expressing my opinion as well that I am disappointed with Taylor as Jacob. I still maintain he would have been a better Seth.

well taylor now towers over kristen. not so much like rob does but enough, in my opinion. and for me it isnt lust or adoration, he's really dedicated and passionate about his character so he more than anyone deserves. besides, to me taylor does look older now that he's all toned up. any other person would look too old for a 15 yr old jake. and taylor is around the same age as jake, only by a year difference. besides, it'd be hell trying to find to someone who looks that much older and is still a teen. no one can grow out of a baby face in year, not even in movies. they can always film him at certain angles or make him look taller with CGI i guess.

Hey, Chili. I agree with you on most things, and not just b/c of the lust factor (although that's there)

It does bother me that Jake isn't super tall, but I'm hoping they can CGI magic that one up and I AM curious to see how Taylor does the acting bit. I'll watch if first, and then judge.

I don't mean to anything personal by this, but Maya sure is always on the "don't like Taylor" wagon.

It's obvious with the comments she makes like "belligerent teenager". It seems like she has issues with Taylor personally.

She is entitled to her opinion, like anyone else, but she seems to have totally written him off without giving him a chance.

Too many people that love Edward/Rob tend to be overly defensive when it comes to Jacob/Taylor, and are constantly putting him down.

I hate when they do that, 'cause I love ALL of the characters and ALL of the cast members.
Jacob is just my favorite.

Of course, he needs to be taller to be like Jake was described in the book, but CGI can do that. I still think they should NOT make him 6'7'' though, it would not look right with Bella's 5'4".

NONE of the Wolfpack castmembers are as tall as SM's wolves. If CW wants them to be, he'll have to CGI all of them, not just Taylor.

And I agree, we DO have to see if Taylor has the acting chops to pull off the angry/menacing Jacob. (We know he's got them for the other side of Jacob. He showed that in Twiight.) But if Kristen and all of the other castmembers are all for him, then he HAS to be pretty good. Kristen wouldn't have been rooting for him like she was if she didn't think he coud pull it off.

ancha, I think you have a problem with people who don't lust after Taylor as you do. I have repeatedly said I don't have anything against Taylor, but IMO he isn't right for the role of Jacob. He's too small, too short and too young looking.

You want to assume your own (false) reasons for why people don't like Taylor in the role (re: see your above rant about Robert) rather than actually read what they wrote and consider they are telling you the truth because there is no reason not to.

To shed some light here, I wasn't crazy about Ashley as Alice either and some of that had to do with her height, but her movement in as the character and mannerisms won me over to seeing she could pull it off.

We've seen Taylor briefly, so I'm going off physical mostly. He doesn't fit the role. You mentioned his look at the end of Twilight and because I don't see what you see and say I see belligerent teenager you automatically come up with your own (again, erroneous) reasons. I cannot put it any more clearly than I don't think Taylor was the right pick for Jacob and was hoping there was going to be a re-cast. There wasn't, fine, but it doesn't stop me from expressing my very valid opinion.

I think you have a very good point.

Taylor does look a bit boyish, but I think he's supposed to be a tad bit still, even though his body matures to 25. I think it would be easier, lust-wise, if he didn't look quite so young, but I don't know how convincing someone who is actually 25 would be at having a 17-year old kid in love stuck in a 25 year-old's body. Jake definitely acts like a teenager in many ways in the book.

Maya says that Rob is 4 inches taller than Taylor. I would say that was true in Twilight, but he has grown at least 2-3 inches since then.

He has matured immensly since Twilight.

He has, Chili Peppa. It's true. He's not incredibly tall. But if you looked at Jake in Grey thermal... Oh man. here go hormones I'm desperately trying to control after rainy-day-Jake, he looks QUITE a bit taller, due to some filming trick. (ET tonight 2 on Youtube)

He has the physical energy, the sunshiness, and exuding warmth to pull it off, and I'd pay $$ for the movie just to see how he does angry. If he doesn't get it right, well, then it was interesting. The Twilight script sucked rocks and I still love the books, so it's not the end of the world.

And these reasons are why I don't care for Taylor as Jacob. When it comes to how Jacob is written in the book, Taylor doesn't pull it off IMO. I have nothing against him. As I've said, he's in incredible shape and a cute boy, but no where near the larger than life force that was written in the book. Like I said, I see Taylor and I think he would have been an incredible Seth a character I simply adore.

I love ALL the characters and I want New Moon to be great. It really bothers me that some people put down Jacob/Taylor because they feel they have to defend Edward/Rob.

I am not saying that you are for sure doing this, it's just that some of your comments about Taylor are really harsh, like "belligerent teenager".

That is not a comment about Taylor's size, which is basically what you were complaining about before.

That is a comment about him, or the character he is playing personally.

I know that you have an older Jacob that you saw in your mind as you read the books, and that is why Taylor seems way to young for you, but try not to completely write him off until you see how he does in New Moon. You might be pleasantly surprised.

It's possible that I may not like him as much as I think I will either, hopefully I will. But I am going to root for him to do a fantastic job in the meantime, because I love the Saga and I want to love New Moon, which I do so far!!!

I only mentioned Robert because of the height difference (and look at Sunday night, it's more like 4 inches rather than the 1 -2 you are trying to insist on) that is so not how it's portrayed in the books.

Maya, you are definitely entitled to your opinion, but if you want to understand the casting decision;

No one cast in Twilight, matches the physical stature of their character per the novels. Why? Because it severely limits the list of prospective actors/actresses to be considered for roles. If you want to nitpick--Ashley is too tall, Rob is too short, etc.

In order to cast Jacob at 6'7" they would have to cast a basketball player & god knows, athletes don't make good actors (in most cases)...& at any rate, good luck convincing them to read this series!

You may be comfortable w/the characters simply meeting your perspective of how they should -look- but the majority of the fans care more about them being true to the persona of the character itself, as does SM. In book-movie translations (since so much is lost as far as plot, scenes, dialogue, etc) the most important thing to preserve is the core of the characters. Since the overall story may be compromised, the essence of the story is left to fall on the portrayal of the characters. This is why appearance is not the end all in the scheme of things if you truly wish to preserve the spirit of the story. & of course, thats what "movie magic" exists--to make actors a better fit in appearance--since in many cases, they don't look even remotely close to the character they are cast to play. There are always bigger fish to fry than a height differential.

Anyone that has seen TL's interviews can see how much he parallels Jacob in persona & considering how hard he's worked for the part, there really is no arguement. This is why so many vamp fans that didn't like TL originally, have changed their tune (beyond his appearance). If TL needs to be recast based on a few inches of height, the whole cast needs to be changed as well. There is no one more passionate about the character of Jacob Black, than TL, period. He has proven himself. The fans recognize this, SM recognizes this & CW did as well. They chose the best candidate to -be- the character, not to -model- or cosplay him.

BTW, Rob isn't 4" taller, he's 2-2.5" at best (Rob is 6'1" & TL is 5'10.5"-5'11"). You can also factor in shoe soles as 1-1.5" or so in adding to height & Hollywood is known to sometimes include hair in measurement. At any rate TL is 17, he's not even done growing yet, he still has a year of growing ahead of him at least.

besides, when has a book to movie ever been 100% perfectly accurate in everything? its impossible. the physicalities to me dont matter much. as long as the plot and the important points are there and the acting is of high quality, im good to go! its all superficial anyway. you can get past purple hair if the actor in a scene of anguish makes you cry and feel their feelings. and i think taylor will deliver. just look at those eyes above in the wet pic.

It's just that I see so many people that bash Jacob/Taylor, and I don't understand it.

I realize that Taylor is young. But he is supposed to be young. Like 4thewolf mentioned before, if they would have picked a mature 25 year old to play Jacob, he would have looked silly having the emotional, more immature reactions of a 17 year old, because although Jake may look 25 on the outside (although I STILL picture him with a young face), he still has a young person's emotions and feelings.

He still ACTS 17. Edward LOOKS 17 (which to be honest with you, Rob does NOT, none of the Cullen siblings could really pull off being in High School, except MAYBE Alice/Ashley, but hey this is Hollywood and they have twentysomethings playing teens all the time.)

I just feel the need to defend all the actors who play the characters I love (I even gave Kristen the benefit of the doubt when all that bad stuff came out that supposedly she had been saying and everyone was bashing on her.)

If you will remember, a lot of people really bashed Rob, until they saw him in character.

The fact of the matter is.... he's Jacob. And he'll stay Jacob. Do you know how many movies have people shorter than what their character is? Older/younger than their character is? Nothing is going to be exact. Taylor was dedicated and he bulked up to prove it. Not to mention he's going to CONTINUE to bulk up for Eclipse. He's obviously very passionate about the role. Would you rather have someone who cares and is shorter than his character, or as tall as his character is and not care so damn much?

It's not all lust that has people up in arms over Taylor. He's 17 and he worked hard for this.

Oh, and he definitely has a young-looking face.. which is good.. but with the transformation and the new volatile anger he has to express, that can make someone look a hell of a lot meaner. It's about the acting - not just how he looks.

Did you read the book? Of course, Jacob should be a mature wolf, he's only about 15 years old in the book? I hate when people don't read the book, only comment on what they want to see, or hear.

Did you read the book? Once Jacob begins changing he starts looking older. Come on, in the span of a year he goes from looking 15 to being able to pass for 27. Taylor can't pull that off.

I hate when people allow their lust for an actor overtake what they supposedly read in the book and blinds them to how wrong someone actually is for the role.

Also, I forgot, I'm sure it's a misprint in your book, but in mine, Jacob towers over everyone. Even Edward. He's also way more muscular than most too, but you've seen the poster of the rest of the wolf pack. Taylor may be a cute, well-cut boy, but he would have been a better Seth.

Don't know if anyone else has commented about this.....since I haven't read all 8000 comments on the trailer....LOL.....but did anyone else notice that Edward is wearing the same outfit in the breakup scene that he was wearing in the birthday scene....and subsequently in the Italy shots? Seems Edward has the same outfit throughout most of the film.

And I agree.....Bella's expression is heartbreaking.

I just noticed the same thing. Probably the breakup happens soon after the party; maybe the following day. I don't thing he even will go to school after the party.

LOL....I was just talking to someone about that. You would think that his clothing would have been more torn and dirty when you see him in Italy. I mean, he's worn that outfit for 7 months, tracked Victoria across the country, into Latin America, and worn it while hunting and hanging out in the attic of a Brazilian tenement. I think there was only a small tear in the blue shirt when you see him in Italy. He's a very neat and clean tracker, hunter, and squatter. LOL!

All 3 pics are great! The blood in the second one looks fake to me though. But in the third one, Jake (Taylor) looks great, but I totally feel bad for the guy. If you click on the pick and zoom in, you can see the goose bumps on his pecks. I know he was freezing and heard him say in an interview how hard it was to act like he wasnt. Well done Jake!!

The blue tint fits in Twilight, 'cause it's all about vampires. Blue is very cold color, like vampires are cold, too.
But now when New Moon is mostly all about werewolves, it should be goldish, like it is! It highlights the point, that Jacob, Sam and everyone else are quileutes. And since werewolves are warm, the colors should be warm too. ;)

The wristbands the Cullen boys wear are a little more subtle- the tattoo is a huge, permanent and obvious statement. I understand that they are trying to be symbolic here, but this was an extra idea that strays from the book that i'm not particularly fond of..

I agree with you both, agava & icwtn! :) I wasn't very fond of the Twilight wardrobe. I always pictured Alice as a little fashionista! Instead, they made her into some bohemian looking chick hanging out in trees. She looked adorable in Twilight, however, it was not at all what I expected! Fast forward to New Moon, and it's as if the characters have popped out of the pages of my book. They look exactly how I envisioned. My, what a difference a bigger budget makes. ;)

Ok... So I was trying to figure out in the Trailer, when Bella and Edward are talking (just before the birthday scene) what is going on? Does anyone know? Is this added to the movie? I couldn't find it in the book anywhere??

When making movie, the story in the book will be rewritten and called screenplay, which includes every single detail of each conversation and each scene. The director and actor will then follow the screenplay not the book. Some detail in screenplay will not be in the same order like in the book, some scene will be created or deleted. In short, screenplay will take the core story, not everything in the book. Some screenplays will have the different ending to make movie more dramatic or happy.

So, don't be surprised if you find something different.

yeah, I noticed. I guess they didn't fine tune the trailer before they showed it. I read on imdb's website that they may be redoing the wolfs. They said that it was just a teaser trailer and the movie hasn't gone through post-production yet when everything is tweaked.

IDK it's just very confusing that her blood looks black. It threw me off. And about the wolfs. I think they look fine, but they could use a little tweaking to make the look meaner.

I think the new tint shows how pale the vampires really are. In Twilight they were just as pale as the Forks residents.

You guys..didn't anyone notice that the writing on the books(I mean the writing of the title on the cover) it's different for all four books. For Twilight it was blue, silver for New Moon, gold for Eclipse and red for Breaking Dawn. I'm just saying, could this have anything to do with it?

Carlisle/Peter's hair does not look that different from twilight, neither does Nikki's or Jackson's apart from the side burns but I don't really care. Side burns are natural and are visible for men so I don't really know, why people were complaining about his hair and I think the hair looks better except for Rob's and Kristen, their colouring was so off, Bella's hair is suppose to be darker than Edward's so why is Kristen's hair a reddish brown colour and Rob's a dark brown, when it needs to be a more copper colour.

Esme's hair looks so much better, the other hair looked so ugly and fake and the colour was off the description, it was suppose to be caramel coloured not brown.

Alice's hair looks a bit better since it's black.

the blue tint in Twilight was alright.but i like the golden tint alot better! it looks great!

i didnt really like ho catherine put Twilight together..she added to many scenes in it that NEVER happened in the book and put ppl in there that werent in the book. i know she had a budget and a time limit but i think she could of did most of the scenes the right way..and an example..the part in the deleted scenes when bella asks edward if he wants a taste.. what the hell..bella would never ask him that and edward would never agree to it!! it would be too tempting for him to kill bella! but all in all..still liked the movie.im just glad they are making the saga into films =]
