Chris Weitz new Moon papercut There’s an amazing new interview with New Moon director Chris Weitz, and he reveals tons of new information that fans have been dying to get their hands on. Among them?–

  • Even Weitz was surprised with how quickly Phil Tippet’s company turned around the Jacob wolf shot at the end of the first teaser trailer. The shot has gone through numerous iterations and is much more photorealistic than that version.
  • He’ll be submitting a director’s cut of the film to Summit within the next two weeks.
  • Thom Yorke and Kings of Leon are interested in contributing to the film’s soundtrack.
  • The movie within a movie, “Facepunch,” will only be heard — not seen.
  • His vision of the Volturi is very much like the book and unlike a number of fan inspirations that have hit the web. He also sees them as having gone slightly insane after living for 2,000 years.
  • He’s met with David Slade and expects the filmmaker’s vision for “Eclipse” to be different than what he’s doing with “New Moon,” but with the same actors and visual effects team.
  • He’s flattered that fans want him to direct “Breaking Dawn” without seeing “New Moon,” but thinks the fans will want Slade to do it by the time “Eclipse” comes out.
  • Weitz needs to turn the film in by Oct. 30 to strike prints or if not, they are in “big trouble” to make the release date.

There is boatloads more, so check out the whole interview over at Hitflix to read all the additional information!

Rotten Tomatoes also shares some info from Chris Weitz, where he reveals the proposal scene has not been cut–

“It hasn’t been cut out, I can tell you that much,” Weitz carefully shared. He paused to compose his answer, making sure not to reveal too much. “It’s not going to hit them in exactly the way that they think it’s going to, but I will say that — how can I put it? –it’s going to be quite special. I kind of saved all of my gusto for that moment. I don’t think it will disappoint.

Part 2 of the MovieSet tour of the set of New Moon is up, and if you can withstand the sometimes grating humor of the Twilight noob hosts, there are some fun times to be had.

The Twilight-expert tour guide uses screenshots from the New Moon trailer to map out the exact spot in the forest that Bella and Edward break up in the film, and you also see the theater scene exterior location.

New Moon Watercolor The Sun Sentinel has an excellent peek behind-the-scenes on the set of New Moon while it filmed in Vancouver, including the first reports of the action on the soundstages that included the interior shots for the Volturi–[spoilers ahoy!]

Many hours have been spent waiting for the sun to emerge from Vancouver’s perpetual cloud bank. Weitz and his team have been trying to film one of the few outdoor sequences that require bright natural light, but because the notoriously difficult British Columbian climate has refused to cooperate, the “New Moon” cast and crew are about to spend the better part of a 12-hour day inside the elaborate fiction of an Italianate marble hall complete with columns and engravings in Latin.

Today, that vampire ruling council is ruminating over the fate of Edward and Bella. Walking forward with his arms extended, Aro, played by British actor Michael Sheen, sporting blood-red contact lenses, offers a vaguely sinister greeting to his reluctant guests. The scene is replayed over and over, with Pattinson at one point leaving the set to consult with Weitz about a particular line of dialogue.

Standing by the monitors, the pair run through a number of options, while Stewart sits on the floor looking a little bored as she waits for the cameras to resume rolling. After several minutes, Pattinson, wearing a long, red robe and fake bruises painted beneath his eyes, returns to his mark, and filming resumes.

Also note that the article reveals what will be shown at Comic-Con: an action scene with intense digital effects and a love scene!

Taylor Lautner Interview magazine There’s a fantastic new interview with New Moon main wolf Taylor Lautner for Interview Magazine with some very stylish shots of Taylor.

MARTIN: What does it mean to turn into a werewolf?

LAUTNER: I think the most important thing with Jacob is that pre-transformation, he’s clumsy. He trips over his own feet. As soon as he transforms, he’s very agile. At one point, he flings himself through Bella’s window and lands at her feet, and that’s the first time Bella realizes this is a new Jacob: He never used to be this agile. I loved bringing out that side of him. The bummer is, when he becomes a wolf, that’s not actually me. When he does the cool fight scenes, he’s transformed into CGI.

Check out the above video, and read the text at Interview Magazine and see some more photos as well.

Alos, JustJared has the behind-the-scenes shots from June when Taylor did the photoshoot.
