Rachelle LeFevre, who played vamp baddie Victoria in Twilight and New Moon, has stepped down from the role of Victoria in Eclipse!

Actress Rachelle Lefevre Will Be Replaced By Howard In The Role Of Victoria

Los Angeles – July 28, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of “Victoria” in the studio’s upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. The film will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. “Rachelle brought “Victoria” to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”

Howard most recently starred in TERMINATOR SALVATION as Kate Connor and has been seen in SPIDER-MAN 3, LADY IN THE WATER, and THE VILLAGE. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her leading performance as an actress in the HBO film AS YOU LIKE IT.

Why did Rachelle LeFevre leave, you ask? The Hollywood Reporter shows this project in her future:

Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and Rachelle Lefevre are playing Paul Giamatti’s many wives in “Barney’s Version,” the adaptation of the Mordecai Richler novel being directed by Richard Lewis. Robert Lantos is producing via his Serendipity Point Films.”Barney’s” tells the story of the politically incorrect, fully lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky (Giamatti).

Lefevre will play Clara, Barney’s first wife, a wild, troubled artist. Driver plays Barney’s second wife, the annoyingly loquacious Mrs. “P.” Miriam, Barney’s third wife and true love, will be played by Pike.

Principal photography starts Aug. 17 in Rome. Dustin Hoffman also is in the cast, playing Barney’s father.

    HaHaHa!!! I love how they say she "stepped down". I find that really funny, because she didn't actually volunteer to "step down". Summit kicked her out for a 10 day scheduling conflict with her other movie. Summit would spin anything to make sure they look good in the end, JERKS!!! I don't think Bryce will do the role justice, because Rachelle brought Victoria to life for me. She was the best actress they could have picked considering what Victoria was described as in the books, and completely embodies all that Victoria is. So I am truly saddened that they replaced Rachelle, and as far as I am concerned it will be a different vampire out to get Bella in Eclipse, and not the Victoria we Twi-Fans know and love!

    I doubt they will ever replaced the "main two" aka rob and kristen. As it will be hell to pay, i can say taylor is safe too ...

    oh my god!!! why do they think its ok to just recast an actor 3 movies into the saga?? thats stupid, i hate when they do that it makes the movie feel less authentic for some reason... like its not the REAL story or something. I feel bad for LeFevre, she was very good! But hey i thought Bryce was good in the Village and Lady in the Water, and she has red hair too, that sticks to Victoria's character. But idk if it will feel the same.....

    I can't say I'm excited about Bryce... but it has been quite some time since I've seen her darling husband Seth Gabel (Dirty Sexy Money - Yummy... the original Chillax-er! & Nip/Tuck). As long as he vistits the set and we get pictures - I can be agreeable to this.

Bryce is basically my mental image of Victoria except with longer hair. But I've grown to love Rachelle, and she has been nothing but sweet to all the fans! I want her back! She deserves this role for all her hard work and commitment! How are they going to put in a new girl after she's already been in the first two? If they were going to do that then why put her in minor parts in New Moon? It doesn't make any sense...

    Makes sense to me.I never bought Summit's excuse for the re-cast.
    Rachelle was SO devoted.You could tell by listening to her speaking for her role and the whole Twilight Saga universe.
    And those awful Summit suits dumped her after using her for CC..

    Rchelle Lefevre has proven she's an idiot. This is Victoria's big moment - I disagree with the idea that this isn't important. She's barely in New Moon, but Eclipse is her big offensive against Edward and Bella. She's losing her big climatic moment which is odd as Lefevre has always been such a fan of the films. I think BDH is a good replacement. She looks like she could be a vamp.

    I'm sad that Victoria is going to be recasted, but it's not like Edward, Bella or the Cullins are gone. Victoria isn't even seen hardly in Eclipse, just talked about. I'll miss Rachelle, but it's not going to interrupt my Bella & Edward love story one little bit. Edward kills that bloodsucker in the end of Eclipse anyway. I think the new chick looks like she could be a good Victoria. I wish her luck!!

I'm on the "This was Summit's crappy attempt at getting a wider audience by hiring someone more commercial" side of it and I'll stay on that side of it until I hear something along the lines of "I chose not to do Eclipse SPECIFICALLY because I wanted to do this other movie. Screw the Twilight saga" from Rachelle.

    Why?

    Because Summit could try to argue that they no longer have to pay Ms. Lefevre. However, Lefevre's team believes she should get her money because they feel the studio is the one who caused the trouble by changing the shoot schedule.

    I still maintain that it's Summit's issue, given that they've already made several mistakes so far with this saga.

    And, as I've said before, recasting looks so unprofessional. I'll still see Eclipse because I love the series and the movies are all I have of course, but I sort of wish another studio had gotten ahold of the Twilight movies... Summit should stick to B-level crap like "Never Back Down."

    1. It's going to be really weird knowing that Bryce Dallas Howard is replacing an actress in a movie that hasn't come out yet. We're all going to be thinking about Bryce Dallas Howard when we see New Moon, knowing that Rachelle LeFevre isn't going to be back. It might take away from New Moon.

    2. I really like LeFevre as Victoria, but she wasn't really how I pictured Victoria in the book. LeFevre didn't bring any of the antsy energy that I imagined Victoria having. Victoria in the movie seemed like she enjoyed leading people on because she ultimately wanted to fight. She was too confident--too arrogant. In the book, I feel like Victoria was a little more schizophrenic, and she did not want to fight. Her power is evasion: "running away," in other words. To me, that means that Victoria is a bit of a coward. LeFevre didn't come off like that AT ALL.

    3. Another beef I have with Victoria in the movie is that she didn't seem that committed to James. She seemed to self-assured to care whether James was with her or not. Except for her VERY LAST SCENE, right before the roll credits.

    4. LeFevre is good--Bryce Dallas Howard is better. She has a much stronger body of work to recommend her, and I feel like she will bring more realistic dimensions of Victoria to the movie.

    5. I suspect that LeFevre probably chose not to do the next movie. I don't really see anything shady about it. She's in 2 Twilight Saga films, enough to give her a solid fan base. She isn't a huge roll in ANY of the movies, and if she can diversify her resume by starring, more or less, in a film with other big, mature names, it's a good career move for her to switch out.

    I'm as SHOCKED as anyone, but I think it's for the better.

    David Slade has so far proved himself a very disappointing director. First he slammed TWILIGHT (which he later apologized for after he got the job to do ECLIPSE), and now he's letting Rachel go as Victoria. Rachel was PERFECT as Victoria. No offense to Ms. Howard but I don't buy the story that Rachel is "booked."

    The Harry Potter cast manages to come back year after year without any scheduling conflict. This is an awful idea. I hope Summit reconsiders. It won't be nearly as good a film without Rachel. ECLIPSE is Victoria's big story line. This is very sad.

    I absolutely love Rachelle because she represents the Canadians fans! She was so nice and so enthusiastic about being Victoria, but now she left and went to do another movie? How could that even happen? Rachelle's agent/manager knew she would have to film Eclipse. Urghhh!

    They can't just go and change anything! It's going to be sooooo weird now. Rachelle as Victoria in Twilight and New Moon and this other person who looks nothing like Rachelle in Eclipse!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm just really disappointed right now. Don't people ever consider what the fans think or want? We're the ones going to watch the movie, we're the ones who PAY to watch the movie, and we're the ones you directors, producer, and etc need to impress.

    I doubt it had anything to do with the "rumors". They're just ridiculous. How do you know if Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are really together? And Rachelle Lefevre is involved? I don't think so.

    Likely if that was the case, she would still be in the movie. Why? Because there wouldn't be a case of Kristen Stewart wanting to kick Rachelle out and that actually happening. They're professional actors. They have to work professional and be able to work together, no matter the conflict.

    Take Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush. They met on the set of One Tree Hill, got married, then divorced because he cheated on her. But it so happens that they still worked together and are extraordinary actors playing Lucas and Brooke.

    So it's probably a whole different matter. Maybe that IS the full detail. But I highly doubt it's those crazy rumors.

    Bryce has a whole lot of work ahead of her! Not necessarily because of the importance of Victoria but as an actress devoted to the Twilight Saga like Rachelle was. I mean, that girl was devoted, she really loved this and was so dedicated to the fans and everything...:( I hope she doesn't mess up in the film AND shows as much as a good attitude as Rachelle through all of this!

    I'm a little disappointed about this. I mean like others have said, we've known about the dates of Eclipse for a while. Maybe she knew at Comic Con that she wasn't going to do, but acted as though she were until Summit put out something saying that she would be doing the movie. That way there would be a bunch of rumors weren't going all over the internet before we got an official word. Either way, it's still disappointing.

    I said a lot of this on Eclipsemovie.org but I thought I'd share my thoughts here too.

    So last night I was really bummed about this. It's unfortunate because Rachelle has spent the last few months really building up for Eclipse. I would, of course, prefer it if Summit could work around her schedule a little better (I mean, really, Victoria fights with wolves and then there's the mountain-exactly how much time would that take to film?)... THEY were the ones rushing the movies. Three releases in three years is a huge push for a franchise. Especially when they didn't sign their actors to a three movie contract, despite the OBVIOUS option of the three movies being made.

    I have no doubts that Bryce will do a wonderful job. She is a very talented actress. And I don't want the Twilight Saga fans' preferences and desire for continuity to in any way hurt Rachelle's career and future movie possibilities. I'm just overall disappointed in the fact that a recast had to occur. You know Summit would move hell and earth to fit Rob or Kristen's schedule... so why not Rachelle's?

    i agree, they would do anything to work around Kristen and Rob, i don't understand why they can not do this for Rachelle. Especially hen Eclipse is basied around her character trying to get to Bella!

    It won't take a week for her to do her scenes, then she die's. This was her chance to be known a bit more for her twilight role and i feel as though summit have robbed that off of her. Unless it was something to do with Rachelle as well, but i doubt that, she was so for it, as are all the cast.

    I don't like the fact that they are filming all of the sequals so quickly. Doesn't seem like 5 minutes since twilight was made. I do want the movies out to see them of course, but not so rushed as i like to see the whole cast together.

    This is why i hope they put BD in to two parts... and bring them out seperate years.

But i totally agree with u on Rachelle if they could work with Cam's schedule in Twilight i dont see why they couldnt now! Rachelle has been a great Victoria and she has always loved the book so much. It just doesnt feel right with out her, there is something very strange going on here? (looks around for clues)

    I honestly don't really know how I feel. I think I am just really confused. I really like Rachelle, I think she did a pretty good job in Twilight. But I was hoping to see her in New Moon, under a different director. Whenever I hear her in interviews, she seems to genuinely love being in the Twilight movies, and it seemed like she was really looking forward to having a bigger role in Eclipse.
    I guess I just don't believe she would just step down from the role. Maybe this is more a choice that Summit made, and if so, I feel really bad for her.
    But I wish for all the best with Bryce. It seems like she is a talented actress, and I am not worried as to whether or not she can pull it off. I just think that this whole deal with Rachelle seems a little strange, and if this scheduling conflict is not what the problem is, I wish they would step forward and tell us the truth.

    I think the only way in which replacing Rachel would be detrimental to the saga, would be if everybody who watched the film, choose to focus on making comparisons between the two actresses, and spent alot of the film focusing on Victoria, understandably it is going to be weird, but the more emphasis placed on the change, the harder it is going to be to look past it and enjoy the film as a whole, after all Victoria doesnt have that huge a part to play in NM so, it shouldnt ruin the movie for everyone.

    However theres no way im going to choose to believe that Rachel left of her own accord, pssh pleease... after showing that much enthusiasm about getting to shoot Eclipse, for so long, i think its the directors work, i mean who in their right mind wouldnt want there daughter as part of the Twilight franchise? Its like instant recognition for her, she will be attached to the project and that would open up doors for her, and oh my whats this? She just so happened to be cast, when the character will feature most! Undoubtedly just like spiderman, her part will be blown up, argh they better not ruin this for me......haha notice the transition from oh lets just not focus on it so much it ruins it to......ah she just wormed her way into the role, they better not ruin this!

    I'm a filmmaker myself and honestly while I'm sad to hear she's not going to be in Eclipse truth is, she probably felt that this other film would be more beneficial to her career. You have to make a lot of choices like this in the industry, it is not a game. I myself am worried to see how Rob does post-Twilight. I love Rob to death and loved him in How To Be, I just hope he doesn't get typecasted like so many before him.

    Let´s be clear about this: Summit Know very well that with the twilight saga they have found their own "treasure", and they know that changing even a little bit, costs a lot of explanations, let´s remember when CH was directing New Moon, all the reactions inmediately by Stephenie Meyer, and the letter (beautiful indeed) of CW to all the fans, Taylor Lautner´s is another example they did as the fans demanded...David Slade had to APOLOGIZE for his comments and now is telling us almost everything, I don´t think it´s Summit´s idea that Rachelle leaves, Knowing how much we like her and I repeat they try very hard to please us because that means success in the movies...and money...so, I think that film was maybe a more permanent role (more scenes I mean) and Rachelle thought that it was worth it compared to Eclipse if we count that she won´t be in BD and that she had already made her way...by playing in the first two movies now she is well known...so I wouldn´t blame Summit so much...they NEED to keep it with no many changes...that means fans and money...I think Rachelle had much to say about it...good luck, you played a wild and good luck to the new one...we´ll try to support you the best we can...

    I’m so sad to hear this news, my friends and i had the chance to meet Rachelle, we stopped her when she was walking down the street to get coffee (All we had to see was that beautiful RED hair and we knew it was her) and she was so genuinely sweet to us, she spent a lot of time talking to us, and took great pictures with us, atleast we all have our pictures at our desks at work to remeber. It’s not going to be the same. super sad :(

  • She does have a schedule conflict - she signed up for a Dustin Hoffman movie before any of the Twilight stuff was in the bag... It is in no-ones interest for summit to change her just for no reason.

    It is really unfair on the girl to make out it is just because of her father. That is rubbish. She did really well in lots of movies that aren't anything to do with Ron Howard. As if they'd change actresses (a hollywood nightmare) midway just to placate a director who isn't even the director on the movie.

    All of Rach's interviews about her excitement about Eclipse. The way Summit worked around Cam's schedule. The way Bryce was recast almost instantly. It took Summit months to decide to keep Taylor remember. I'm not dissing Bryce's ability as an actress or Ron's ability as a director. I just think Bryce is ambitious and has influence that Rach doesn't. It was to quick and to clean. This was corporate meddling and I'm sure the Eclipse Director is going to have his hands full with this one.
  • I would imagine that the possibility of Rachelle being taken elsewhere by the conflicting movie was known by Summit and they starting looking for a replacement months ago. Then they wait and see, and when the first movie announced its schedule and Rachelle and Summit realised it wouldn't happen, they announced Bryce. They would keep something like that on the downlow and just let it play out to avoid a scrabble!

    They wait until everything is final and then make a press release.

    I'm sure RLF was hoping the first movie would schedule a different time to Eclipse, but they didn't and she has to do it. I'd say she is heartbroken, to not see out the role she started and I'd say Summit are pissed too but thems are Hollywoods rules and its rare they are broken...     Wow...feels like this came out of nowhere! I am sad that Rachelle will no longer be portraying Victoria. I have seen a few of Bryce's movies and I do think she is a good actress. However, with that being said...I just can't picture her as Victoria. ESPECIALLY the Victoria in Eclipse! The suspension has been building up with a face off b/w Edward and Victoria and now they are gonna insert a "new" Victoria? I just hope they can capture what that fight scene should truly be...and that we won't be distracted by the fact that there is a "new" Victoria.

    I just can't believe Rachelle would walk away like this. Makes no sense. I mean to start something, then doesn't finish it?!?! She had of signed a contract in the beginning, when they KNEW they were going to do Eclipse (back last fall). I think Summit released her from her contract....

    I'd say she is really upset, the other one is an indie so less money, and she doesn't get to see her character through.

    I firmly object to people saying it is down to BDHs dad ringing up Summit and asking for his kid to have a part. THat just doesn't happen with a movie like this.

    I'm happy enough - I thought Rachelle stunk in Twilight, she was smiling in every shot that wasn't her shot, like when the cullens defend bella in the meadow she is smiling like an idiot. And when she is running along. She didn't look threatening whatsoever.

    They couldn't have picked a worse replacement if they tried. At least pick someone who can actually act, and could actually pull off being nasty and evil.

    I usually adapt to change very well, but this just isn't sitting right with me. As I said, I loved Rachelle. To see a CDN in the Twilight Saga is amazing, b/c Twilight is SO huge. I know we still have Cameron Bright, and some of the wolf pack. But I just really loved Rachelle as a person. If you can't understand that, thats fine, but I'm not changing how I feel b/c someone doesn't agree with me.

    I don't think her role is big enough to ruin the whole movie, that is a little extreme. It will be different, but I don't think it will make a huge difference overall. Bella, Edward, Jabob, one of the Cullens...THAT would change the whole feel of the movie. Victoria....not so much!

    Victoria IS the reason why the wolves and vamps come together - b/c she is after Bella. She does have big role in Eclipse. NO she isn't the main character, but big nonetheless.

    Victoria's presence in New Moon may have been small. But guess what .. in the MOVIE adaptation - her presence is MUCH bigger. Which is exactly what will happen w/ Eclipse.

    Geeze...chill! I understand it's your opinion. It's also my opinion that changing her character won't ruin the movie. This is just a forum where people can discuss all things Twilight Saga. No need to get all huffy if someone disagrees. I liked Rachelle and hate to see her go, but I just don't see the switch as that big of a thing. It happened in Harry Potter with an even bigger character and everything there worked out just fine. I'm just looking at it like at least it's not Bella, Edward or Jacob!

    I am, however; willing to give Bryce a chance. The re-cast could have been far worse.

    This recasting business BETTER stop here, though!! If I find out the Volturi have been recast for BD.. or any other part-- all hell will break loose.
  • I really think it is just a contract issue. The other movie is a little indie and this stuff happens all the time. It happened in Batman, they'd to replace Katie Holmes.

    Its due to the fact that a) no actor wants to be known as the one who cancelled for a better offer - they'd never work again
    and b) its hollywood etiquette that the first contract signed is the one that the actor goes with - unfortunatley the Dsutin Hoffman movie in this case.

    It isn't anyones fault. :-)

    When they changed directors for New Moon, people kinda got nervous too.. and so many people compared it to Harry Potter. Rachelle even said in a movie that if the HP kids could get through a director change, then they'd be fine too. Same can be said for a character change.
    Don't get me wrong, I liked Rachelle enough in the role of Victoria.. but in Eclipse, will the character really have any more screen time other than the big fight scene?
    I'm sure Bryce Dallas Howard can do a fine job getting her butt kicked by Edward ;)

    The film that clashes with Eclipse has got to be a pretty big deal, Dustin Hoffman is a HUGELY famous guy, and Minnie Driver hasn't done too badly for herself either. Maybe Rachelle decided that it was right for her to move into something more adult, and maybe the pay was better? Who knows... either way, I don't think Summit would have done this just to annoy people, nor Rachelle, I think it's probably perfectly explainable, and it's done... I can't wait to see Bryce on set... we can get used to her as Victoria then :)

Now she has suddenly been cast in another supporting role starting in August....And Summit has recast with Bryce with amazing speed.....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I wonder if Bryce's dear daddy, Ron Howard, helped his little girl get the role she wants with the leading man she likes.....

    Think about it. This is Victoria's big scene and Bryce fits the bill physically. Rob would never accept the recast of Bella. Kristen is the one who got him the part. Summitt did Ron a favor and gave Rachel a bone with a new part. Rachel didn't break her 3 movie deal contract with Summit. Summit gave her an offer she couldn't refuse to make Ron happy....my concern is that Vicky will now get more screen time than she should just to make daddy happy. Thats what happened in Spiderman 3.

    I think its really unfair to say that it has anything to do with RH, he isn't even directing the movie.

    I;d say they had her in mind ages ago when the scheduling was up in the air, the first movie has preference and they chose the same time as Eclipse so RLF has to suck it up or take the risk of never working again - studios don't touch actors who balked for something better.

I honestly didn't know who she was until Twilight. Plus isn't there only one scene with her in it anyways, leave one set and come to the other to film your scene and then go back. WTH!!!???

    I agree with others, though...it could be worse. I'm glad it's not Rob, Kristen, the other Cullens, or any other "main" characters. Oh well, the movie will still be great. I can't wait. I wish luck to Rachelle and the new Victoria. She's got big shoes to fill. :)

    they all signed for eclipse, when they signed for newmoon...so scheduling conflict is a cover up...but atleast they chose a great actress to replace her but i still dont like it..i loved rachelle's hair am gona miss it lol...but like everyone am glad its not none of the (Big three) that are replaced. but they should stop there get everyone to sign for breaking dawn, a contract that says do the part or go to jail or something, that way no one can be replaced..:)

    Although I really like RL, honestly, it's not going to ruin the movie. Although her part is extremely important, especially in Eclipse, it's still a small supporting role, and I think it will be ok.

    Lets all be extremely grateful that it isn't Kristen, Taylor, Jackson, Ashley, Kellen, or…choke…sob, Rob for gods sake. That would be the end of the line for me, and I would not continue with the series. (no comment on Niki).

    Cast changes are common and there's nothing we can do about it. Don't let this change take away anything because the cast will still need our love & support…this has got to be hard on them as well….and a new actress coming in..will be tough for her too.

    I'm really disappointed with Summit. This better be the last of the cast changes, or you are going to have some very very very unhappy TwiFan's especially if you change any of thc cullens or wolfpack.

    It just sucks because Rachelle played the character SO well. And exactly how I pictured her.

    For Rachelle part, I believe for whatever reason she is probably had a very hard time to make this decision. From what I saw her interview in the past she has so much passion and enthus.. to play Victoria, and Eclipse is a HIGHLIGHT for being Victoria. It is what it is I want to thank her for being excellent Victoria in Twiligh and NM ( assumbly) and I wish her well in her career..LOVE HER.( I'm gonna need sometime to get used to Summit new Victoria though)

    It sounds like a money issue to me! Or popularity. Bryce will be a bigger draw to them since she's more well-known (for first her FATHER and then her movies). Though it's not like New Moon needs that.. considering that was the biggest draw for freakin' comic-con. They certainly don't need to amp it up with bigger names.

    I doubt Rachelle would up and leave for a stupid reason like that.. considering she mentioned being excited to film Eclipse (unless summit made her say that). And not to mention, this is what shot her up the charts.

    It's a bummer.. I liked Rachelle a lot. I am willing to give Bryce a chance, though. She looks the part and I think she's a good actress.

    I am going to say what I said on Twitter last night:
    Rachelle played the part of Victoria beautifully in Twilight and I'm sure she will be just as great in NM. I loved her portrayal as Victoria and Bryce will have some big shoes to fill.

    I hate when movies change actors, especially in a series as big and great as Twilight. This is not some soap opera, where actors should be changed out for every movie.

    But on a positive note, if they had to replace Rachelle, Bryce is a great choice! We must be grateful that they didn't replace her with Ashely Tisldale or some sh*t like that. Bryce is a very talented actress from what I've seen her in, and she will make a great Victoria.

    What's done is done, so we should give Rachelle alot of love and appreciation, and also look forward to what Bryce will bring to Eclipse. :)

    I watch Twilight a lot and I ALWAYS fast forward her scenes because I find her so insufferable.
    I'm sure she's a nice person, she seems to be, but her acting, at least in this film, is kind of crappy.

    It's weird, I love Twilight and a lot of the plot themes, but I really hated the whole Victoria thing, even in the books. It got really old in my opinion.

    omg this is ridiculous! you can't go and just change characters in the middle of a series and expect the fans to be ok with it! i am NOT ok with this. i think that Eclipse should just schedule her stuff around her previous obligation. i understand that that will be hard due to the fact that she is in like the whole movie with both of them but at least in eclipse we don't see her that much till the end. i can't believe there is no way to work around the schedule!!! i am sad that she is not going to be on the 3rd one. she will always be victoria to me no matter what! this bryce girl better be in for a world full of hate cuz you know some fans are going to be going crazy over this!

    This is messed up. Rachelle is an amazing Victoria, and seemed so dedicated to her role. And I hateeee character replacements, especially when it's in the middle of the friggin series. If it was her decision, I'm not mad, but that was terrible career choice for her. I'm sorry, but i just don't like the idea of Bryce as Victoria. I think she has too much of a baby-ish face and not that "fierce" look. Summit has been starting to get me pi$$ed lately.

    This is such a huge disappointment. I loved her as Victoria. I'm gonna have a hard time accepting a replacement. I do think Bryce is a very good actress, just not edgy enough for me.

    I want a straight forward reason for this. If it was Rachelle's decision, then I'm p*ssed. She knew what she was getting into when she started, that the possibility was there for all movies to be done. Does she realize that it was the twi-fans who put her on the map?

    This really fu**ing sucks!!!!! I can't even begin to explain how much I hate actors being replaced through a series! It messes with the flow and you end up comparing them, which takes away from the movie itself.

    It always leaves you with a feeling that something is off.... why has this come about now? They've known for months and months when the filming for Eclipse would begin, I can't believe they couldn't work something out. I would have glady waited an extra month for Eclipse if it meant the original cast would be there.

    I wish Howard good luck, Rachelle is really well liked and it's always hard to step into someone else's shoes...... this just really sucks!!!!!

    While it stinks that we are going to lose Rachelle, Bryce is definitely a good actress.... No, she doesn't look the same, and that sucks. I loved Rachelle as Victoria, and will totally miss her.

    Perhaps, if Summit wasn't in such a huge rush to cash in on the Twilight Saga, they could have somehow worked around the schedules - like they've done for Rob, Kristen, Jackson, Dakota and others who've filmed other movies around New Moon & Eclipse?

    After all, Victoria is really only in one major scene - let's be conservative and say that they would need 2 weeks to film that? A rather high guesstimate, to be sure - and they couldn't find a way to do that for her? I don' know...

    I just know Rachelle certainly seemed to be giving me the impression she would be in Eclipse - and maybe she was under the impression that a scheduling compromise was in the works - certainly there is lots of room for speculation in this.

    Like with Harwicke, it'll be interesting to hear what Rachelle has to say. I don't have any hard feelings for her - at least this time, she gets to go to Italy! :D

Maybe with the special effects team that can make him seem taller this time around. They made the cast look tiny for the Hobbit... Ugh.

Meyers doesn't exactly explain everything about Rosalie either we don't know her height, her facial structure, ext. With Jacob, she did explain. We all know he was supposed look older for his age. Taylor looks like a little kid. I remember back when they released photos of who was playing Edward and I squealed. I thought he was perfect. I remembered him from Harry Potter and thought he was just the Edward we needed. Many didn't like the choice. As a Team Jacob fan, I was so upset by the choice that I was in shock. I mean just because they casted the acters doesn't make them ideal for the role. Twilight in my opinion wasn't the greatest movie on earth. They changed so much. New Moon on the other hand is looking Amazing. So much like the book! I'm so excited.

    I really think this was Rachelle's decision, she was offered another part which begins filming at the same time as Eclipse, it's probably more money and she takes it. Bryce could be someone else that they considered for the role, when they were first casting for Twilight. Either way it's done, it won't hurt Twilight cos noone isn't gonna go and watch it just cos of a cast change are they? Harry Potter, arguably the biggest film franchise of our lives got along just fine with a major Re-cast halfway through (Dumbledore), so I'm sure it will be just fine. There is no point in us moaning anyway, it won't change it, lets just keep on the look out for the first set pics of Bryce as Victoria!! :)

    To be honest I don't trust Stephanie haha. She had an input in to Twilight also, and crucial scenes were missing.
    I loved the movie, unlike others I liked it, but still so much is missing. So knowing that she is involved more doesn't calm me at all.
    You are absolutely right, it will be better when the filming starts and when we start getting reports from set. I just can't wait because I'm losing my mind.

    I agree - I just don't buy it that Rachelle would walk away from the saga right before her meatiest scenes yet.... She seems to love being part of the series - she is always gracious and charming at fan events and in interviews... And I'm sure the 'scheduling conflicts' could be worked around.

    I hope Summit haven't just replaced her for a bigger 'name' now they have more money.

    But best of luck to Bryce though, she's a good actress. I will miss Rachelle though! :(

    Rachelle was perfect... but I don't know the reason behind her departure. Maybe f*cking Summit wants to level up the movie bringing a "great" name... after all Rachelle is a virtual unknown and it will be replaced by a Hollywood bigshot's daughter...

    I'm with you.....I too will miss Rachelle and I think this is a huge mistake.

    Though I think that Bryce is a talented actress, I will have hard time watching Eclipse without thinking about Rachelle.

    Why couldn't they have recast Rosalie's part instead? And, hey, they could have cast Bryce for this part, too. She looked beautiful as a blonde in Spiderman 3, so I'm sure she would have been great here too.

I feel really bad that it happened to her!

    I think that scenario makes the most sense - she was probably asked to commit fully to New Moon, and her other movie just couldn't accommodate. But from what I've heard about Barney's Version, the movie is going to be a big deal - it was probably a tough decision to make.

    I love Bryce to death, though, so I am only super excited about this bit of news.

    Yeah I read some about this movie. It has Paul Giamatti in it and he's won like 3 or 4 Oscars. It also has Dustin Hoffman in it. So if it's going to be a big film good for her for wanting to work with these guys. Not sure I would pass that up. That's a tough one. Well good luck to her.     I think there is more to it then their telling us. You would think that they would do anything for her to do it like they did when Cam had a different film to make during twilight. Apparently summit isn't telling us the whole story.

    I wish Rachelle good luck on the rest of her career. She did a great job in the first 2 films. And to bryce start studying every move Rachelle did in twilight cause you have to gear up. :)

    A. She wanted to work on the other film, and decided it was better for her career.
    B. She wanted more money & Summit refused
    C. Summit pushed her out for Bryce (who also happens to be the daughter of famous director Ron Howard).

    D. I don't know - it seems like a stupid decision either way.

    If it was Summit's decision - fans are already happy with non-big name actresses, it'd be a waste of money, plus everyone likes Rachelle and she's been at every Twilight/NM event doing PR.

    If it is Rachelle's decision, she better hope this movie she's doing with Dustin Hoffman is really good for her career, because no one really knew who she was a year ago. And she was every Twilight/NM event.

    It doesn't make sense to me.

    I think this may have to do with money. However, I have to say the suspicious part of me is leaning toward option C. One, if this was Rachelle's decision, why haven't we heard anything from her? She's an avid tweeter. You'd think she would have tweeted something like "sorry, it was my decision. Couldn't turn down the opportunity.....blah blah" But she's tweeted nothing. Two, Summit sent out this press release in the evening, after all the news organizations had their stories lined up and most web reporters had gone home for the day. The timing was calculated to avoid the fallout from the recasting. Three, Rachelle was at Comic-Con last week. She was talking about doing Eclipse and looking forward to doing it. She's been talking about the role since filming on New Moon. Plus, Eclipse is Victoria's swan song. Rachelle created this role. Why leave in the last act? Wouldn't you want to finish the role? Four, if this was about money, I can't imagine Rachelle was asking so much that a recast was more financially sound. They are probably spending more money casting Bryce, who is admittedly a bigger name, so wouldn't it be more prudent to pay Rachelle, and continue on without all the fallout? Unless they expected Rachelle to ask for more money, and were prepared to recast a bigger name regardless.

    I don't know......it seems something's rotten in the state of Twi-mark.

I think it would be hard to fake that kind of enthusiasm if she knew she might not be playing Victoria. I also agree finding a replacement just a week or two before rehearsals begins does sound fishy. All I know is I want the whole story, and this better not mess up eclispe!!!

    It's understandable Rachelle might want to take this opportunity to really get her career off the ground working with an acclaimed actor like Paul Giamatti, for example. She's probably wise to make sure "Twilight" doesn't define or limit her--even though she defines Victoria to us. I respect her decision, and I think Summit has cast a GREAT replacement. Both Rachelle and Summit probably knew this was coming but held/embargoed the news until after CCSD, which also makes sense.

    I can't say i'm overly happy about changing of actors. But they have done pretty well on the casting for this. I think she suits Victoria very well.
