stephenie meyer 200907171313 Nathan from Band Meese Meets Author Stephenie Meyer

Nathan from the band Meese writes this great little story about meeting Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer the other night smack-dab in the middle of reading page 120 of Breaking Dawn!–

Hi guys, Nathan here. Now for something that you probably didn’t know about Ben and me. We’re into Twilight. Like IN TOit. It started when we were visiting our record label almost a year ago and they had a bunch of copies of the book laying around and I needed something to read on the airplane on the way back to Denver. Anyways – it was one of those obsessed-at-first-page type scenarios where I didn’t put the book down for two days and two nights until it was completely absorbed by my eyes and my brain. If you’d of told me earlier in my life that I’d be reading vampire love story saga I’d call you crazy, but sometimes life throws you curveballs…

So I finished ‘Eclipse’ (the third book) about a week ago before a show with Copeland in Cali. I bought ‘Breaking Dawn’ (the last one) at the airport in San Francisco before I flew home to Denver to play a show. Yadda yadda we’re playing our first show with The Fray in Phoenix two nights ago and I had been reading the in the dressing room and got to page 120 or something like that when all of a sudden some says in passing really nonchalant “Yeah, the Twilight author, Stephenie Meyer is gonna be here tonight”. Then I had this split second indecision of “Should I try to play it cool and act like I meet super famous genius writers all the time? OR should I flip out and tell her what a big fan I am and get my picture taken with her?”. I think it’s pretty obvious which one I picked. Stephenie was AWESOME. We got to hang out and chatted for a while! If it wasn’t for the fact that we had to go on stage to play, I probably would’ve tried to talk to her all night.

Check out the Meese website for more from their blog and to listen to their pretty rad music!

michael sheen aro 200907171243 Michael Sheen: Sets are Amazing on New Moon Vancouver Set Michael Sheen, who will play Aro in New Moon, reveals some new details from when he was on the set in Vancouver–

“The first day of filming we did the 18th century stuff and then one of the modern scenes,” Sheen says. “It was a lot to deal with; the wig, and contact lenses all day and the make-up, but it was fantastic. These sets are amazing. And the look of everyone is so strong so it was great to just kind of get right into it straight away. “

Other actors purposely don’t read the original source material for their big screen creations because they don’t want to veer from the direction the screenwriter and director have laid out. I asked Sheen where he stood on the issue.

“Oh no, if I’m doing something that’s based on a book, then I’ll definitely read the book,” Sheen says. “I look for anything that will give a little clue or something, a little help, a little hint… just things like that. Like one word that Stephenie uses in the book will kind of tee off my imagination.”

funny 200907171257 Video Reaction to Video Reaction of New Moon Trailer Ok, things are about to get all M.C. Escher up in here–above is a video reaction to a video reaction a fan made watching the New Moon trailer.

Let me make that more clear: that’s you watching a video of guys watching a video of a girl watching a video. The only thing that could complete this unholy circle is if the original gal makes a reaction vid to the guys watching her.

Warning: Some harsh language, but at least one of the guys is kinda cute. I’ll let you figure out which one I picked.

robert pattinson 200907171210 Robert Pattinson New Moon Set Observations, Plus New Pictures from the Set of Remember Me: Shockingly Bloody

robert pattinson 200907171211 Robert Pattinson New Moon Set Observations, Plus New Pictures from the Set of Remember Me: Shockingly Bloody Here are some 15 spoiler-y things that one reporter noticed about Robert Pattinson while he was filming New Moon up in Vancouver. The whole list is worth reading, but here are my favorites–

2. Like the rest of the cast, Pattinson’s canvas director’s chair had his character’s name (that would be “Edward Cullen”) embroidered on the backrest. On Robert’s chair, however, “Edward Cullen” was covered with yellow tape, on which “ROBERT” was written in bold black marker. Seems our fantasy boy likes to keep things “real.”

5. Shooting these vision scenes required a massive (think warehouse-wall-sized) green screen and a camera on tracks that slowly zoomed in towards our boy. I got to watch Robert film one of these apparitions, and while he didn’t actually utter any lines, he did display a series of intense facial expressions. He also sported a very dapper gray suit.

10. I stood behind Stephenie Meyer while watching Pattinson, Stewart, Ashley Greene, Michael Sheen, Cameron Bright and Dakota Fanning film a scene in the Volturri lair. It went a little something like this:

Edward, Bella and Alice stand in front of the Volturri. Edward, looking many gray shades of haggard, takes a dramatic step toward the vampires and seems to hit an invisible wall. He crumbles to the ground, writhing in pain. Alice, wearing red gloves, crouches down to tend to him.

Bella: “Stop, stop! Try it on me. Just stop hurting him!”

This scene was done at least five times, and despite it taking place on the other side of the set’s massive wall, I could hear the thud of Pattinson’s body hitting the ground each time. There’s no way this felt good. The man suffers for his art.

As for the pictures, check out the new shots of Robert Pattinson on the set of Remember Me in a blue shirt at SocialiteLife and bloodied at Radar Online.

taylor lautner 200907171130 Taylor Lautner Does His Own Dirtbike Stunts in New Moon There’s a new interview with Taylor Lautner from when he filmed New Moon in Vancouver, and it reveals that he’ll actually be doing dirtbike stunts on his own–

Q: Were you doing any stunts today? I’ve been doing a lot recently, yeah. The cool thing is, they’ve pretty much let me do most of my stunts. I got to do all the dirt bike riding, I got to do this really cool sequence that I’m actually not going to tell you about, because I want you to wait to see it. But yeah, the stunts have definitely been my favorite part so far.

For those wondering about how much we’ll see of Taylor shirtless in New Moon–

Q: What percentage of time would you say you spend shirtless?

I’d say the same as the books. I’m not going to give you a specific percent, but the great things about this series, and the movies , is we stay true to the books. So if you read the books, you know what the movie’s going to look like.

interview 200907171114 Julia Roberts in New Moon?, Plus How the Film is Cast

New Moon producer Wyck Godfrey has an excellent new interview with HitFlix where he details some of the finer points of making the Twilight Saga happen, including the logic behind casting in the film–

Q: Some franchises like the ‘Star Trek’ movies, for example, are notorious for inserting celebrity cameos. Now that ‘Twilight’ is so big and now that you have so many Hollywood fans, do you think that will happen in any of the future movies?

Well you were on-set earlier right? You noticed Julia Roberts? (Laughs.) She’s just an extra standing out there. I always liked to feel like people want to immerse themselves in a world and not be distracted by gimmick casting. I kind of in general like…we’ve always just wanted to put the best actors in the role, not the biggest reality TV stars or whatever. We want to put great actors in the roles and let them become the character that people have read in these books and fallen in love with. And I sometimes think like if you try to like stunt-cast things, people notice and for that split second in the movie it pulls them out of the movie and they whisper to their friend ‘Oh, that’s so-and-so’ to me you don’t immerse yourself in the world of the movie. So, I don’t know. We’re not ever going to consciously try to put extra surprising stars in the movie.

Q: Well to that point, when Dakota Fanning was cast it seemed a little surprising because she was such a big name especially at her age. So was there any trepidation that she might be almost too distracting because she is so well known in such a smaller role?

Well, the finding is that for a lot of websites you’d see like who’s your favorite Jane and she’d almost be at the top of the list. So, as long as you feel like it’s the right casting, it doesn’t matter how big or small a person’s name is. I mean, I think if Jane were written as a 35-year-old transvestite you’d be like that’s kind of weird they’re putting Dakota Fanning in it, but it really felt like the right call. We’re just glad that she was…and again, she was a fan of it. She was interested and that made it easy to get someone of her stature.

Later in the interview, Godfrey gives 100% confirmation from the horse’s mouth that Breaking Dawn will not be rated R. He also confirms that Breaking Dawn is not even official yet.

Read the interview at HitFlix.
