I don't know what you consider bad acting, but have you forgotten the Hospital scene in Twilight? Kstew isn't a good actress either, but if they ever replaced her, You guys would really all go nuts.

The acting is one aspect of the change which I find... distasteful, but
anothers, IMHO, which are more important are the continuity (story wise) and
the way it was done (real life wise)...

Story wise: Victoria is a main character, whether she's in it a lot or not,
she influences the entire second and third books, you can't just change the
face which has that influence, it's not a soap oprah...

Real life wise: this is typical of movie studios, she is a, from what I've
read a lovely lady who's been "done over" because Ron Howard wants his kid
to get a job...
Why Summit? huh? that's my question...

Acting isn't always great, I think that's a given, but why change the
character for the last installment she's in when her character has the best
bits??

I just think it's disgusting :) Give her back her role... :)

I saw notning wrong with KS acting in Twilight, The director has ALOT to do with how Twilight came out. This is about Rachelle and US losing like a part of our family.

I just don't see Ron Howard's daughter as "Victoria". MMM nope she just won't cut it. Rachelle is far better "Victoria", I mean when i first saw her on Twilight i hated her but it was because Rachelle knew how to play the role just right and i can't see whats her name do what Rachelle did for "Victoria". Summit needs to bring her back and bring her back FAST!!!!

I am very disappointed that Rachelle will not play the role of Victoria in “Eclipse”. This is a huge mistake by Summit. I think it's not right, to re-cast a role in the middle of a saga. I mean… how would it be for the harry potter fans, when Warner Brothers would re-cast Bellatrix for the last film? Rachel Weisz played in two films of the mummy saga the role of evelyn and yes…I kinda like them… but the 3rd movie… without Rachel…and with somebody who absolutely doesn’t look like her….god…i hate the third movie. So… I am really thinking about the fact, that I will not see “eclipse”… I prefer that I miss the movie, instead that I hate it…

Seriously, did Summit really think that the loyal fans(who by the way put Summit on the world map) would simply accept this idiotic change in cast during the most pivitol part of Victoria's storyline. Regardless of scheduling and contracts, the fact remains that it's the fans who have truly been betrayed. Does Summit not get it YET that the fans are devoted to both the characters and actors. To replace Rachelle with anyone is an insult to the fans. Just as Summit kept Taylor for the role of Jacob, they can keep Rachelle. I also wonder how much of a role David Slade had to do with this casting change?

It is idiotic for Summit to do this. It's like the didn't even think about it and they acted out on anger towards Rachelle! This is where Victoria is the most important, and then stupid mindless Summit is just gonna come and recast the role. And no, I don't think Summit yet understands the psychology of the Twilight fan base. They still don't understand. Because if they did, they wouldn't even made this move. They would've tried to work something out with Rachelle. And I know that they could've made it work out.

And what makes you think that Rachelle told the truth? Just because she said it first? For me, I never really cared who played Victoria, yes I wouldn't have liked them to change her role, on the count that it wasn't badly casted. If they recast Rosalie I would be happy, especially Jacob (I don't care how many pounds Taylor puts on, he is nothing like the description in the book. Instead of growing horizontal, he should grow vertical)! I don't know, but I feel like only a few of us read these book way before the movie came out, before they casted the roles of the characters, before they forced us to change our personal view of each character.

For your information, I ALSO read the books before I saw the movie and I've always respected that we ALL pictured the characters differently and so I respect your opinion even though I do must disagree.. but its ok, I always agree to disagree! Acting and looking like a character is completely different. We all read the Saga and listened to how Bella describes Jacob Black. Close to 7 feet. Actually (since you like that word so much) NM is just the beginning of his transformation. He doesn't get to almost 7' til Breaking Dawn so maybe YOU need to re-read NM and stop patronizing other people with your stinky attitude.

And NONE of the actors are anywhere near 7' as you very well know and, as I'm sure you also know, there are very few actors in Hollywood that even cross 6'5 so it would be really unrealistic to think that they could find a young actor with all the physical specifications Jacob is supposed to have. (especially when none of the other actors are tailor made to their characters either)

I think that Rachelle told the truth. Why do I think this? Because Summit has a lot of history of screwing up their reputation with the Twilight fan base. I have never liked Summit at all. They seemed fake. I think that if Stephenie wasn't so involved in the movies, then the movies would be down the toilet, in the sewer. So what if people started reading the books after the characters were cast. That doesn't mean that it has changed their personal view of each character. For example, I first became a Twilight fan June of 08. I didn't even know who was playing who. But when I found out, that didn't change my personal view of the characters. To this very day, when I go back and reread the books, I CANNOT even force myself to picture the actos as the characters while I'm reading. I just can't. I still have my personal pictures that will never go away. The only character that I picture looking exactly like the actor is Alice/Ashley because I think that she looks so much like Alice, it's like Stephenie based Alice on Ashley or something lol. But I still think that the actors portray the characters very well.

But you gotta remember, the casting directors can't please everyone.

Anyways, since I was sidetracked, there isn't even a reason to QUESTION is Rachelle is telling the truth or not.

I like your comments, I wish I could be like you. I once pictured Steven Strait as Jacob, and now Fire and Ice is so different to read now. Now I picture Taylor, and its odd. In the film it's okay, but when I read, I find it a little awkward to think of him has Jacob when she keeps giving information about his look. Ohh well.

Yeah, I read this last night and I'm still not buying it. What Summit is did to Rachelle is unforgiveable.

The only way that they can redeem themselves is by sitting down with Rachelle and her rep's and and render a full apology, pleading that she return to the production and promise to never,ever treat another actor (or anyone else employed by Summit) like this again.

They can chalk it off to a miscommunication or something like that.

Then they have to get on their knees and apologize to all of the Twilight fandom. Someone will have to get a picture of them on their knees and blow it up a million times so they can post it on the biggest billboard in the world.

Oh, and it will have to have a sign above it in big red letters that reads, "WE'RE SORRY AND WE PROMISE WE'LL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN!"

nikki is not the issue here. she's fine for rosalie. no, she's not "inhumanly beautiful". let me remind you all that that's because nikki is, in fact, human! sort of impossible to be inhumanly beautiful if you're human! i think nikki will play the part well enough in eclipse. she did well in twilight. its bryce i'm worried about, i've never seen her acting, and i don't think anyone could make a better victoria than Rachelle.

I decided to mail 10 red ribbons today. I'm really really upset by this. I don't like watching companies try to man-handle "the help" because they think they can get away with it. Grrr...

So, here's my take on this whole thing. Stick with me. It's long, but I'm hopeful others might understand me.

The rumours started that Rachelle was being replaced. My brain says "That's ridiculous! Why would they do that?" A little while later Summit's Press Release hits their website and it's official. I'm still curious why. Maybe she got an unbelievable lead role that she just COULD NOT turn down? I'd forgive her.

Later in the day Rachelle releases her statement. It makes me sad. She didn't lose the role of Victoria over a leading role in a huge movie. She lost it due to a 10-day supporting role, which was allowable according to her understanding of the contract. I also would imagine that she would have consulted Summit because Eclipse is possibly the BIGGEST MOVIE OF HER CAREER up to that point. So now I'm curious what happened at Summit's end. Can they only get a certain set for those days? Did they even TRY to work with her?

Fast Forward to last night and Summit releases a rebuttal statement. It reads like a fifth grader pointing fingers. I was still upset about the recasting of Rachelle, and it made me sad because she seemed honestly hurt about it. (I have PMS. I'm ridiculously emotional right now. lol) Summit basically said it was HER fault for taking a role in another movie. They would have kept her otherwise.

Now... I was willing to just accept that things didn't work out. I was. All I needed to hear was Summit say "We exhausted all efforts to uphold the contract with Rachelle, but the scheduling conflicts persisted. The choice was then left to her as to which role she would rather play. She chose to work on Barney's Versions, so unfortunately we had to recast the part." But it didn't. I read that thing 4 times. They keep talking about how she should have made a good faith effort, but where is there's?

THAT... is why I am upset. Because their own finger pointing "It's her own fault" statement made no mention of any efforts or choices offered on their part to uphold the contract. It sounds like they are pist off that she even took a role with another company. Rachelle has been talking about trying to juggle her schedule for a couple months now, so that she could make sure she was available for filming Eclipse. But suddenly within the last week she blind sided them with "Hey I have another role." Not buying that either.

So I'm sending my complaint e-mails and ribbons because it looks like Summit is the one who failed here. They are too busy trying to make a profit to be an honorable business which upholds their contracts and realizes that they are NOTHING if they don't have fans to come and see their movies.

Did anyone ever stop to think that perhaps your CRAZY love for Rachelle as Victoria has distorted your ability to look at this from an objective perspective. Just saying!

I'm just about as objective as it gets around here and I still can't get over Summit's behavior in all of this.

We have evet right to feel hurt over this, what REALLY did happen happen behind the scenes? Do you know?

I am begining to think we have some Summit workers posting on this thread girls.

I never said that it was Summits fault or Rachelle's fault. I didn't say you didn't have a right to feel hurt, you have the right to feel whatever you want. I don't know what really happened behind the scenes. Then again neither do you, so to blindly take Rachelle's side is quite ridiculous when you think about it, just as it is to take Summit's. Everyone is way to quick to take sides without really knowing who behaved wrong.

I blame them both actually.

Don't be stupid and refuse to go see New Moon in the hope Summit will lose money, don't you realise how real the chance Breaking Dawn won't happen is? If they lose figures on the second movie they'll think it's a downward spiral and be too hesitant in putting Breaking Dawn into action, actors will make other commitments and either you'll have to deal with a hell of a lot more recasts, for which you will only have yourself to blame, or the story ends at Eclipse. Just for one actress.

It's more important that Breaking Dawn be made into a movie than people learn to use their voices? All of this might not get Rachelle back to play Victoria, but it could effect how they make other choices involving this franchise... including your precious Breaking Dawn.

This whole blame game is just really bad publicity, and is very unprofessional for both parties to be releasing statements against each other. If these two are feuding, of course the fans are going to go nuts!

As sweet and as dedicated as it is, there's not a chance Summit will re-hire Rachelle. Filming starts next month!

This was a big deal. May be a conspiracy, may not. End result- we have Bryce Dallas Howard. Just gotta accept it and let the show go on!

Okay, so it is sad that Rachelle has been replaced, but face it folks, a petition isn't going to do ANYTHING. This is Hollywood. I know it. I work for it. It's over people. Let it go. I'm not trying to say Summit is right, but it's a wasted effort.

Secondly, so many people hated Robert as Edward when he was first cast and then everyone came around to liking him. Don't you think this might be the same situation with Bryce? Sure we'll all love Rachelle, but maybe Bryce can bring something else that we'll all enjoy. We're all still going to see the movie, so let's just try and enjoy it. Just a thought though. :)

I understand that realistically there is nothing that any of us can do about this. But I still think that this incident shows just how sheisty and money grubbing Summit is. I have nothing personal against Howard, even though I have literally watched most of her films and not liked her in any of them. I personally think she looks too old for the role.

And this just plainly sucks. Rachelle is my Victoria. I have always loved her and her enthusiasm for the series and the role.

I truly believe that Summit had options and could have worked with her. But for whatever reasons that were determined behind closed doors, they made a hasty unprofessional move.

No one needs to convince you of anything. Your opinions are yours. But yeah, Summit is money grubbing, it's a business. This economy has hit Hollywood hard, so they kind of have to do whatever they can to keep afloat. If one supporting actor is going to cost them more money by having scheduling conflicts, then the business answer is to replace them. It's show business not show friends.

Ok, I hear you. But the last business that I am going to feel sorry for in this economy is Hollywood and especially Summit Entertainment. They have hit a goldmine with the Twilight series. I seriously don't think that the amount of money they would lose to reschedule a few days would break their bank. That is pocket change to them right now.

And I understand that money grubbing politics is the name of the game in Hollywood, but that doesn't make it right. That's one of the things that is wrong with this world now is people continuously make excuses for a lack of human decency because it is just the way things are.

well, personally, i don't have anything against Bryce, i saw her on lady in the water, and i liked it. but, i think most of us are angry at SUMMIT, not bryce, because she is in the middle and i feel sad for her because we already have rachelle as victoria, and i loved her as that character, i thought she got it well and in new moon she'll be on screen a little more, so it's just sad that they replaced her when she has been in the twilight movie, and again, the frustration goes against summit for taking the decission.

I think both parties have acted badly here. But the problem is, they've already found an actress to replace her. I know that anything is doable for a big company like Summit, but I honestly think Rachelle would be a little more outspoken if she felt like she was 100% in the right. Don't give up just yet. Filming does not begin until the 17th. Summit needs to be VERY careful right now. Two years ago they were a FAILING start-up production company. Without Twilight, they are NOTHING. As it stands right now they have already created an incredible amount of bad press for themselves. They are a young company who are trying to show they can play with the BIG KIDS, but they're not ready. I think getting Bryce was an attempt to have a film with a more recognizable name. They were trying to appear more appealing to more prominent actors, but I think all the press and juvenile finger pointing is going to make them less appealing.

They are nothing without the fans of Twilight. I don't think they have been around long enough to realize that yet.

The chances of getting Rachelle back are practically non existent. And yes, it's more important to me that Breaking Dawn becomes a film than people learn to use their voices about something that is nothing to do with them, really, as half of what went on happened behind doors. If you want to use your voice why not use it about some of the worlds real problems? And don't call me selfish, it's a cheap shot and you don't know anything aout me.

This is so depressing. I aleady said what I think so many times. Now all I feel is disappointment.
I am so angry at them because they could've avoided this, they could avoid this drama and fighting through media.

summit needs to get real.

All studios send out the same message when they recieve backlash. Pointing fingers and blaming the actors/actresses invovled. Perhaps both are guilty of bad communication skills? but it was ultimately Summit's choice and in my opinion it was still a bad one. Summit I still do not like you.

I had my doubts abt Summit because they really weren't the big entertainment company in hollywood until Twilight, now it seems they are gonna milk it for all its worth (which is stupid) and think they are the big ones on campus when in reality they are just starting out.

I have no idea how to feel. I would love to keep Rachelle as Victoria. I can understand the need to push these movies out fast, if you look at pictures of Rob and the rest of the gang their faces have matured more since Twilight.

It seems like they could have been more flexible with her schedule. It was just the rehearsal that she would have had a conflict with, correct, not actual filming. Of course I have no clue how that stuff works. So maybe it wasn't as easy as I think it is to change a few things around.

I think it's best to approach this with maturity if you want Summit to take you seriously. . I'm all for contacting Summit and expressing how you feel.

And cclore, that wasn't a personal comment about you, obviously there are exceptions, but I've been reading about this all over the internet and the vast majority are saying the same things, and it's always hot headed, there is always an unfair amount of digs on Bryce, this site being no exception. I'm not saying I want Rachelle gone and I'm not speaking as a Bryce fan either, it just seems people are saying a lot of unnecessarily cruel things, in a situation that cannot be fixed by anyone despite anyones complaints.

I think it's over and what has been done has been done. Nothing we fans say can change it. I am extremely sad to see Rachelle no longer continuing the role of Victoria and hope that Bryce does just as good a job, if not better. I just hope that the studio atleast TRIES to make Bryce look like Rachelle, with the hair color and style and makeup. If you change actresses you should not change the way the character looks. We now have in our head what Victoria looks like on thebig screen and Summit should stick to it. Victoria better resemble herself in Eclipse like she did in the last 2 movies. I still think this is crap because who cahnges actresses on the characters last movie?! Harry Potter hasn't changed a role, except for Dumbledore and that was only because the original guy died.

I just read the article on the Eclipse site..I have a question..
Didn't Rob have to turn down a movie he was signed to do because he would be filming New Moon?? Why didn't Summit have a contract written in stone for all the actors, so they would be obligated to do Eclipse and the rest of the movies?
Rachelle says Summit knew and that they would be able to work around the 10 days, that's why she took it...So, why is it they she can't get out of the other movie?
Reguardless..Rachelle's character is only in the movie at the end, so I don't see it being a problem for Summit to shoot around her..They could do it for Cam, they can do it for her..it's only 10 days..The whole movie is bacically Edward, Bella and Jacob, then Victoria at the end.

I'm sorry for the negativite here.. but honestly - I dont think summit will suffer at all for this "not come for new moon the first three days".. because twilighters - that is obsessed and just are there for robert and so on - will go and the teaters will be full no matter what.. and think about them earning so much money all over the world ,, so they aren't really gonna care, because in november the filming of eclipse is all ready started and our fighting will unfortunally will be over... but - we can do out protest in another way and give a greaat big support for rachelle and have signs and other stuff .. so that they feel our love and actually regret their choice.. Exactly. I think the problem is that the younger fans don't realize the power of DISGRUNTLED FANS. People are "already over it." It's important in life to have opinions and fight for them. If it only takes 24 hours for people to go from "passionate Twilight fan" to "Over it" then you really aren't a fan. You are nothing more than the $$$$ production companies treat you as.

It's likely that they'll say more about it in the future, but it's not necessarily their obligation to tell us everything they do, it would have been insensitive to Rachelle to have let the public know they might replace her while there was still a chance she might be in it. But yes, I understand why the way they handled it would seem deceptive, but I just don't see it as reason enough to turn your back on the series, unless you are more of a Rachelle fan than a Twilight fan, in which case fair enough.

And it's probable that Summit will at some point be apologising for this, but if they do I think it's more likely to keep people happy than because they are actually sorry for whatever happened, which none of us really know. On my part, it's only the fact that I'm still not sure if there is any basis in the suggestions that Summit are lying at all, or hiding something, that I feel they should be punished for this. If what they said in their statement is true, then I don't think this could have been helped, it's just unfortunate.

Rachelle agreed to the indy movie based on the schedule she had been given by Summit. Summit changed the schedule in mid July. Thus a conflict occurred. Rachelle informed Summit. Summit recast the role.

Good news about New Moon from director Chris Weitz:
I'm very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he's doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.
The characters in Stephenie's books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I'm looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

I'd just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I'm truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I'm very much looking forward to seeing what he's going to bring to Jacob's character this year.

Yes but if it really, truly wasn't possible, which is seeming probable, then surely nothing could be done about the fact that, as you rightly put, what is right for the movie should come first. With Taylor, it was always possible for him to be in it, it was just a debate about whether he was right for the part. But if Summit is telling the truth, and the key locations that were set to be used during the period where Rachelle would be unavailable, then surely they had no choice?

If she really did only tell them last week, then it would have been too late for them to make the changes that would allow them to keep her, with so many other actors timetables to consider. Like they said, it's an ensemble cast.

Sorry but are you kidding? Who in their right minds would turn down a job in one of the biggest franchise with one of the biggest fandom? It's business, it's her carreer, it's Hollywood, life's tough probably even more than in any other job, you make a mistake or you are unfairly treated (whichever happened here since I have no idea) and someone will take your place in the spotlight.

I am very upset at Summit for not keeping Rachelle as Victoria, I don't know about you but it's going to ruin the saga. I found another petition that will be sent to Summit Entertainment from the fans of the Twilight saga in favor of keeping Rachelle on. Please everyone add your name, if we stick together and let them know that we want her to stay, then it might work. After all, if it wasn't for us fans the movie wouldn't have been such a huge success. here is the link..
