I want one of those books!

I am super happy for the town of Forks. For Spring Break, my son and I traveled all the way from Tennessee to Forks and it was like being in "the town that time forgot". We flew into Seattle and drove through the Olympic Rainforest. It was snowing at twilight ;o) when we drove past Lake Crescent and I got out to take a photo. I heard something moving in the trees and nearly freaked. My son said he saw something white...wishful thinking that it might be Edward. We stayed at The Olympic Suites and it was like having our own little apartment for the price of a hotel. The sign outside the hotel says "Edward Cullen didn't sleep here" which is so cool and the people were so nice. We ate breakfast at the Forks Coffee Shop, which is where the "blueberry cobbler" mentioned in the movie came from. We had an extremely easy time finding all of the sites without a tour guide. They have maps in every business there and the people are so friendly. They'll give you any info you might need. My favorite stop was the police station. A lady named Cyndi gave us a tour and she was so nice. She gave my son a sticker that looked like a badge and said Forks Police Dept. She also said that all the tourism is "the shot in the arm" the town needed. I was disappointed in the "Cullen House". It is right in the middle of town and doesn't have the open feel I thought it should have. La Push was unlike anything I have ever seen. I TOTALLY agree that you feel a presence of Jacob or Sam. We even saw a big pawprint (which I took a photo of) and I nearly freaked. The store Dazzled by Twilight was pretty cool, but a little overpriced. I recommend going to the Chinook Pharmacy to get your Forks or Twilight memorobilia. O.K. I've gone on for longer than I planned...cool book--good for Forks!

I want to buy it because it's Twilight related, but I also don't want to buy it. It just doesn't seem useful to me. lol Like any of the Twilight merchandise is useful. I don't even use it! I just make it look nice and look at a every single day. lol Oh god, I bet I sounded really obsessed right there.

So my girlfriend just visited Forks and said it was very cool. Just like the book. She also visited the liitle store with all the Twilight merchandise and purchased/sent me an invitation to Edwarad and Bella's wedding (duh- I KNOW it already happened in Breaking Dawn which was sooooo LAST YEAR!) LMAO. Anyhow, I was SUPER excited to receive the wedding invitation and add it to my Twilight collection. BTW, they also have a "spot" reserved for Dr. Cullen at th local hospital, yes, my girlfriend took a picture of her car, in the spot with the sign! Fun stuff!!! Would love to visit. Oh. like mentioned above, she said La Push is awesome. Very beautiful... better than Forks.

I've been to Forks! It's pretty magical. My friend and I took a "Twilight" trip to the Portland Oregon area for the movie sites than to Forks for the book sites. Forks pretty much fits the description in the book. The people of the town are all very welcoming and of course cashing in on the whole Twilight phenomenon. They don't seem to mind all the visitors. We stayed at "The Cullen house" which is a B&B and it was cool to see everyone drive by and take pictures. La Push was awesome. We felt the presence of Jacob and the Quileutes. First Beach was just gorgeous and fit the description perfectly. Oh yeah and Forks has a store called Dazzled by Twilight that is all Twilight merchandise. A Lot of stuff that you can't just buy anywhere. And if you go you need to drive 45 minutes to Port Angeles and eat at Bella Italia. Great food! It's a really neat trip. I highly recommend it. The drive to Forks from Portland was absolutely gorgeous and very "Twilight" feeling.

A lot of people would love to have this book, but I personally could not condone myself to buy it..
its just a cash cow business... What good is this book going to do for you except show you what cardboard cut out of Edward other fan girls have stood beside?

This would come out ONE WEEK after I actually - by some miracle - get to go to Forks.

Actually, I'm surprised it took them so long to come up with a book for the town. They've had summer school and there are the fan tours . . . .maybe it just took them a long time to pick the pictures?

Ooh! That's exciting!!! I think they should do some cool hikes so people can lose themselves in the forest and maybe actors can be there and pretend they're Sam rescuing you.. or on Halloween maybe you could run into vampires and have to argue your way out of getting bitten to death.

LOL...you're full of ideas.....I do like the Halloween special though. like have a haunted (ugh erh....vampire/werewolf) themed walk through the woods. WE could probably make a fortune in just 1 month! when do we pack?

Maybe for a special bonus, too we can have cliff diving and for a few extra dollars we can give ppl a white dress, have them fall thousands of feet into the water, and then have a hot local Quileute actually save them.

LOL. I've been good...was away for 4 whole days on vaca! It was hard not getting my news fix...thankfully it looks like it was a slow weekend for it anyhow.

..All we need is a camera and green screen set up near our vampire/werewolf walk. They charge $20 for 2 5x7's in Niagara Falls for one of those green screen pics. I'm sure the Twilight fans that visit Forks would pay more. We can do the cliff scene with the white dress, one with the volturi in Italy and one with all the wolves....and for all those Edward lovers...we'll have a life-sized wax figure of him with the woods background. We're going to make a fortune! LOL

So, true, but really Kass, I think we should go for as much realism as possible. Maybe green screens for timid ppl, but we the actual thing for those who are daring. We could have dirtbike rides with ramps and stuff and again, maybe some nice locals who would be "Jakes"

Cashing in! Someone posted the other day saying it $6000 to go on one off these tours, you could go to the Caribbean for a luxury holiday for half off that and get a really nice tan. Not go walking around a freezing ass town getting soaked through to your bones with rain...heck I might start charging people to tour Belfast and stick Forks signs all over the place to make it look real LOL

Belfast has got a heack of a lot more history and museums and building to see than Forks. You'd be making a mint. In the rain with a few trees around Belfast could possibly pass for Forks, if it's very dark - stick to winter tours maybe LOL

Yip I'll take them up to the Botanic gardens though I'll have to shield them from all the wino's and even worse all the drunk students heading out of Queens Union, better not book any for Saturday nights cause all the partiers will be falling out off Shine and we don't need them witnessing that! LOL

Actually a friend of mine lives in Tacoma and she took her thirteen year old daugther down to Forks (birthday gift)

She sent me pics and told me that the entire place was so hospitable. Everyone was generous but this trip was also in January so the mega hype had just begun.

They went to La Push, Port Angeles, Forks, and got to see everything without a tour guide.

Thats cool. I'm too far away to visit...but if I ever lived closer to the west coast I would definently go and be a big corny twilight fan, do all the touristy things and pose for a million pictures next to all the things from the book. Thats good that they are being hosptable...but they probably will be busy for a few years with all the tourists.

Unfortunately for Forks I think you are right, peace is gone forevere and they will be perpetually bothered by people wanting to take a picture with a cardboard but out.....

Still their economy must have ricketed....

I am going to forks probably next summer! It will be one of many stops on my trip to the pacific northwest since I was born outside of Seattle and want to go back to visit! I haven't been to area since I was little, but according to my mom I have been to forks (when I was a year old). This book will be great for planning my trip and my future move back to the area!
