I think he's acted the part of Charlie so well because he seems sort of that way in real life. He seems very laid back and sort of not dramatic, but you can feel the emotions right under the surface.
I hope they show the scene with Alice and him in the kitchen talking about Bella...that's where he shines as a father in this movie. Reading from Bella's point of view, you don't get to know what the rest of the characters think.
Sort of like the tent scene in Eclipse with Jacob, Edward and Bella where they think she's alseep and she thinks she's dreaming of them discussing her. I can't wait for that.

Finally, some Billy news! Go Charlie!!!

Billy is a real bright spot in the movies. He is just how I saw Charlie when I read the books. You are right, he is a reasonable age. The sad thing is he is one of the oldest actors in the series and he is only in his early forties.

Because in the book he's around a lot because she is so depressed and then she hangs out with Jacob and the Blacks and is down at La Push so much and Charlie is in New Moon quite a bit. Any thoughts on how they will do it in the movie? Or do you think they will focus on the Bella/Jacob story more?

I think the focus will be mainly Bella/Jacob, but I hope Gil ( Billy Black) is in the movie more than Twilight!
