Twilight Wuthering Heights Emily Bronte200908041136.jpg

The classic Wuthering Heights by badass scribe Emily Bronte is receiving new Twilight Saga influenced covers, mimicing the monochromatic black and white with red flourishes of the iconic Twilight books. Given the spelling of “Favorite” between the two, I’d say the left is the UK version.

Wuthering Heights

I like it but this is going to piss off ALOT of people. lol
  • DangerMagnet
It already does. I looked it up in a forum.
But what really is pissing me off, is that some of them had Twilight Icons, and are harassing SM. That's just lame -.-
  • Amanda(URmylifenow)
That's stupid. But they should of known better than to take a legendary novel from the turn of the century and stamp Twilight stuff all over it!
This merchandise thing is out of control.

(And plus Edward didn't even like Wuthering Heights) lol
  • DangerMagnet
I understand what you mean. And yeah, It's not Edwards favorite book xD If they are going to this, they should at least get it right.
  • fangsandfur
ah true. they only said they could understand the characters like catherine. it was just mentioned in the book.

and like i said earlier they could sell a bunch of volvo's now because edward drives one. haha
  • Amanda(URmylifenow)
    Probably already have! lol
  • I found Edward's volvo here in Guatemala =) http://twitpic.com/cr0lt
  • I suppose people are just being honest about the fact that Stephanie Meyer doesn't really have alot of skill, to be kind about it. I love the Twilight series, it has a lot of magic but its so obvious she used a thesauras and there isn't much in the actual writing. In comparison to a classic such as Wuthering Heights people might say that it is University and Twilight is kindergarten... you know?

    :-)
  • stinalynn
Stephanie's writing is simple. It's not a difficult read. (Thus not as developed or as deep as some of the classics)

I do appreciate her pg approach to a vampire story. I'm not a screaming teen and have no need to read another gory sxy vampire story... Honestly I found Feathers... refreshing over the other possibilities.

Simple read. Enjoyable. And a fun journey!
  • Kassielovesthecullens
I agree with you. It was a very easy read. I do love some good smut...but I've read novels where the explicit sex scene was like 12 pages long...full of detail...and I just kept thinking to myself....REALLY...JUst freaking DO IT already. Jesus Christ! LOL
  • Yeah I know what you mean allaboutEdward. I'm a university English student and I totally agree with you. SM's novel isn't the pinnacle of fantastic authorship but it's definitely an amazing story and that's what I love about it. I love to read a good story instead of having to study and read between the lines whenever I pick up a novel. Go SM!!
  • Amanda(URmylifenow)
I think even if it was plastered all over the place w/ stuff from the greatest novel ever penned people would still freak out. THEY'RE SEPERATE BOOKS!!!
Nobody wants any advertising from one book on another. This isn't a billboard people!
  • whats that got to do with what i said. I was explaining why people are giving out about SM being linked with EB.

But on your point, I agree in theory, however I'm also all for highlighting the classics to young readers and if they read it, which is an education in itself, then I am all for it!
  • DangerMagnet
I understand what you mean. But I meant that it's just weird when people is harassing SM and her characters and they are using and Icon from the movie. You start wondering why they have it, when they just harass it all -.-
  • If I'm honest I can't stand Stephanie Meyer. I think she is a wally. Sometimes I can't believe she wrote Twilight. She wrecks my head.

But I love her imagination... LOL!
  • TwilightFreak81
    Realllyyyyy??
    Omg i LOVE stephenie.
  • damarisc
I have to agree! I, for some reason, do not like SM. I watch her in interviews and I get annoyed. I too can't believe she wrote Twilight lol. Honestly, I don't think she isn't as grateful about the success her books have gotten as she should be. I read some
  • Hey you have hit the nail on the head! It is that she comes across very smug and self satisfied and not gracious at all.

That is it. Thats why the sight of her face makes me want to puke!
  • Wow I think they are going way beyond the point....
  • cutesweetiezzz
I don't think the publishers should have done this. They should have just kept to their own book covers. It was perfectly fine the way it was before. They have to be more original than that, but I guess people are willing to do anything for money now. But I'm definitely not going to be buying this because the book cover was inspired by the Twilight Saga.
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
No kidding!! I wonder what Bronte would say if she saw her piece of work with a sticker on it that says, "Edward and Bella's favorite book". I mean what the heck!?! Are we going to whore out all old classic's covers now by stamping the Twilight name on it?? That is disrespectful to both Bronte and Meyer!! I wonder if they had to get Meyer's ok to do this??
  • freak4twilight
i DONT like it and it DID PISS ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!
  • Lekblad
Seriously, DON'T destroy one of the most timeless and great love stories with something as stupid as that!!!
  • giiIsEl
Wow..i am shocked..i meann i absolutely LOVE twilight more than any other book i've read..but this is noT right..i mean wuthering heights is a CLASSIC...its just weird..its like if shakespeare starts to compare to harry potter or something..please DOnT take THIS THE WRONG WAY!! i LOVe twilight..im on this website everyday & everyone is awesome here!:)..BUT i just feel that this is just plain wierD..mAybe wuthering heights wants to attract a younger audience??
  • I think if it gets young women reading the classics than it can only be a good thing.

Whats weird is your odd placing of capitals!! :-D LOL!!
  • lauraseclipse
oh this is disgusting to see a classic desecrated this way!! Not every god damned thing on the planet has to do with twilight. I think it is gorgeous that Twilight has influences of these classic novels but lets not put such a ridiculously shallow spin on classic literature this way.
  • ClareB
Nice to see more people jumping on that cash camel.
  • bean_Bad 2 the RathBone[Mar09]
Yes, it may be a bit misleading, but if this encourages people to read the classics, then I think that's great.
  • Kim1524 (Fanfic Junkie)
I don't know why they would do this to a loved classic, hopefully they will keep the original, darker, haunting covers also so people have a choice in which to buy.

I can see why they may have done this as in the Saga it is one of Bella's favourite books, and as a lot of fans will buy anything related to Twilight in any form possible so I'm sure it will sell well, especially amongst the teens.

This is obviously a ploy to get the younger generation to read it, they should want to read it off their own merit not just because the front states "Bella and Edwards favourite book", it's kind of sad really.
  • Cheburashkaa
    ARGH!!!
okay as much as i love the twilight saga, this really pisses me off!!!!! People are seeing how many fans the Saga has and they are milking it to the fullest extent.

Not only is this not accurate because it is NOT Edward and Bella's favorite book. Yes, Bella really likes the book and they can both relate to the characters Catherine and Heathcliffe but it is NOT their favorite book.

I read Wuthering Heights before i read i even knew about the twilight saga and i loved it, in fact it is one of my favorites and i am really mad that they decided to do this. Emily Bronte would be rolling over in her grave if she knew about this.

In a way, maybe it's a good thing because it might get more people to read the book who normally wouldn't have. It's a wonderful book and is written beautifully and should be read. HOWEVER, this twilight branding is seriously going too far to the point where they are taking advantage of us fans!

ugh, okay this is the end of my rant.....i'm going to go look at pictured of taylor to calm me down lol
  • Hamnoo
"Emily Bronte would be rolling over in her grave if she knew about this. "

    Oh yes.
Who'd expect that one's book would be marketed hundreds of years later with a ... well, I don't want to piss anyone off here, but while I like Twilight, I would never regard it as literature.
Next thing Goethe is gonna be mentioned in the next book selling millions and they'll put a sticker on 'Faust'.
  • Abbieee (:
Emily Bronte would have a fit, if she knew whats happening to her book.
Its being used as yet another advertising plymth for the Twilight francise...
  • Krazii4Twilight
ohkai urm i thought that Jane Austin Wrote Wuthering Heights :S or .....what did she write???
im 14 so cut me some slack :P
  • TwilightFreak81
    Wowww!!
This is insane! A book as big as Wuthering Heights made a tribute to Twilight??
    just........wow!
And i love that new cover
  • Yeah - That's pretty amazing! I have to admit, after reading the series, it made me want to read Wurthering Heights even though my mom had already told me many times. :)
  • TwilightFreak81
    Yes me too!!
Twilight opens up so many doors.
    xD
  • Like Stephenie said Twilight was influenced by Pride and Prejudice, New Moon=Romeo & Juliet, Eclipse=Wurthering Heights, Breaking Dawn= A Midsummer Night's Dream.

So it made me want tor read the last two --- b/c I had not read them.
  • TwilightFreak81
    Exactly. :)
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
I had already read all of those and could totally see her inspiration. That is one of my favorite things about Stephenie, she has read SO much! I LOVE Pride and Prejudice!!
  • My boyfriend was reading Pride & Prejudice for school so I was like okay I'll read it too. LOVED it. This was around the time the Kiera Knightly version of the movie came out. So I saw it when I was done reading.....wasn't as good as the book. Nothing ever is....reading is just a different experience....a very personal one.
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
No, nothing is ever as good as the book but I actually really like that movie version of the book. At first I was like, ugh I don't like him as Mr. Darcey, but by the end I totally warmed up to him! At first, before I watched Twilight, and I had only read it and seen promo pics I didn't like Rob as Edward either. I think what he looked like in the movie was nothing like the promo pics! By the end of the movie (the third time around once I stopped screaming at it and how it was not good enough) I LOVED Rob as Edward!
  • Yes - I really like the movie Pride & Prejudice. I agree about by the end, you were into the actor playing Mr. Darcy :)

Same as Twilight - the first time I saw it - it was so much to take in. All I was really doing was comparing the book to the movie the whole time. By the 2nd time or so, I loved it. I agree about the Edward promo pics looking WAY different than he actually looks in the movie. So hot in the movie :)
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
I didn't understand why they made Edward look so menacing in the promo pics?!? In the movie they didn't hardly show that side of him at all. Of course I also thought that KStew looked totally different in the promo pics to... Like a total different person! Yes, I liked me some Mr. Darcy by the end! I actually just ordered that version of the movie the other day off eBay. It hasn't come yet. :(
  • They went photoshop crazy and made them look comic-like. Edward=very scary. Bella=looks 12/innocent........let me climb on your back for piggy back rides. haha!

    btw -

According to a tweet from E! News, they're going to have New Moon news featured on their show which airs tonight at 7 pm EST/ 11:30 pm EST. Better be good!

    Here's the tweet: http://twitter.com/ENews
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
No joke. Everyone looks more realistic now for NM. I still think Edward looks a little dramatic but whatevs. haha I watched the E! News thing! I read your comment from my phone when I was making dinner. I was making pancakes (breakfast for dinner) and it was exactly 6:00 (thats what time E! news is here) and was like oh crap! So while I ran to find the remote and turn it to the right channel my pancake totally burned and smoked up the kitchen!! haha The things we do for the love of Edward! haha

    ________________________________
  • Breakfast for dinner is the best. I remember my mom doing that all the time growing. My bf's not a fan....

I missed it b/c CSPAN had taken over my E! channel....I'll catch it at 11:30 i guess...
  • static22
BD is also influenced by The Merchant of Venice.
    Hi again!:)
Finally,I made it to the first page and the newer posts!
And I agree about the talk we had b4.
She was all wrong and weaker than ever in Eclipse.
And I wasn't as much annoyed the 2nd time reading about J/B kiss.
    Whatever...
And Edward was TOO understanding, you're a vampire, show us some teeth!LOL
  • you're right about The Merchant of Venice - haven't read that either...

lol - show some teeth Edward. I would have liked to see a little bit more heated altercation between Edward and Jacob. I LOVED when Edward scolded Jacob for kissing Bella the first time. That rocked!
  • static22
Yeah,or E to get mad at Bella, just a little and then regain his ataraxia-LOL
It's like NOTHING ever bothers him, that's a bit boring...
I'd love sth to spice up things a bit and that kiss was his chance. And I got a bit tired of him saying I'm sorry for just about everything!LOL
That's why I LOVE everything about WA's Edward.
  • But I understand - he loved Bella so much...all he cared was the she was happy....even if that meant he wasn't with her. :)

I loved the subtle things Edward would do......like blow in Bella's hair before she went to hang out with Jake. :)
  • Kassielovesthecullens
I saw 2 movies made off of Wurthering Heights (but have never read the book) and I thought it was a horrible story, the characters were so mean to each other and there was not really a happy ending at all. I would read it, but I'm kind of put off because of the 2 movie depictions I've seen.
  • hmmmmm....yeah, that's making me definitely not want to read it. haha. It's kinda like that movie "Love Story." My mom made me watch that and told me it was soooo good. I hated it and thought the main characters were so mean to each other. Classics? Who says???!??
  • Tia_jb10 (Team Pants Explode!)
yea it looks good and thats soo cute ive never read that book before but i mite have to
  • IHowl2 - The ONLY Samske Girl
I am NOT AT ALL liking the change of the classics to mirror the latest fads.

Why not do it the other way??? Place RPatz, KS and TL in the Wuthering Heights pose... or the pose of a old classic film of WH....
  • Hamnoo
I like your idea, and if wuthering heights was a bit more in modern pop culture knowlegde, that might actually work ...
    sadly enough, it isn't.
Or at least, the book covers and movie pics aren't. The story itself might be.

but still, on an off-note: ... I adore wuthering heights and I never thought it was the best idea of stephenie meyer to try and fit it into eclipse. it felt too forced to me, though it was good to know that she has good taste.
  • IHowl2 - The ONLY Samske Girl
I never liked Wuthering Heights - I know that it is a classic and is written
very very well. But its just that the story line is too vengeful and
depressing. I am more of a sunshine and butterfly kind of person!Plus I
agree with you about the references being forced...!
  • Flowers_and_Cookies (Patzy)
This is ridiculous. That's all I'm saying.
*crosses arms and glares out at nothing*
  • I did this in school and loved it. That is 15 years ago so maybe I'm due a reread... penguin have little paper classics out that are the equivalent of one dollar fifty maybe - 2 euro... I got one for my daughter ages ago so must root it out...

Also I never thought this was their favorite book, just how they communicated certain ideas to each other in Eclipse...

    *sings kate bush style*

Ed-WARD its me your AAE, give me a Uni-COR_HOR_HORN
  • OhEdward (The Original)
I believe the purpose of Wuthering Heights in the Twilight Saga is to serve as a mechanism of comparison of great love. Both Bella and Edward feel the relationship between Heathcliff and Cathy is and unhealthy one but they are undeniably drawn to each other. It offers an irony that the love between Bella and Edward is just as messed up (on a different level) but the chemistry is similar in its intensity.

All that said.............. I think the new artwork for Wuthering Heights is completely inappropriate.
  • Cheburashkaa
i competely agree with you on everything :)
  • Very true...

Do you reckon Meyer just read the quick notes?? LOL!
  • OhEdward (The Original)
Good one! I thinks SM's strength is not her writing, as you said above, but her ability to grab her reader by the guts and hold them. She's got an imagination I could only aspire to, but she locks in the emotion of first love so well. I also think she loves literature - but that alone does not a great writer make.

I wish I could write like Steinbeck - but I can't! Sad but true.
  • CathyCullen(RIP Orange Pants)
I totally agree with you, of course Stephanie doesnt have the best literary skills. But she has the ability to make you feel real emotions when you are reading the books, especially from Bella's point of view. I think that alot of writers fail to reach out to their readers the way Stephanie does!
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
    Agreed!!!
  • wow 1rst??

  • What Obsession?
4th....Sadly since I've began to read Twilight, I also read all the books Bella has read. So this is in my book collection.
  • Mr_Darcy
Why is that sadly? That whole list is great stuff. I think it's very cool that you're reading them.
  • What Obsession?
Well my husband thinks it's sad. But I love it. I've read almost all the same books from Bella's collection. Would have finished but then I discovered Fanfiction and I can't stop :). So I'm going to take my Jane Austen collection with me on vaca this weekend and get some much needed book reading :)
  • Mr_Darcy
No matter what anybody says the classics are the classics. I mean that's where Meyer got all of her stories to begin with. I hope you enjoy your reading.
  • What Obsession?
Yea..I was never a reader until I saw the Twilight movie and had to find out what happens next, then it led to my small collections of books which is growing slowly buy surely.
  • Thats something to be really proud of. To go from not reading much to reading and enjoying the classics, including this, its a tough book!!

    I say Good for you!
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
That is awesome! I had to read sooo much in college (English major) that I got really burned out (like 27 novels in one semester) so I hadn't read for enjoyment for like over two years until the saga came along. I remembered how much I love reading just for me and now I can't stop! I know, fanfic has put a kink in my reading of real books as well! haha Oh well.
  • stinalynn
BTW LOVE your icon! BBC's Jane Austen movies are the best! Especially pride & prejudice. ^^
  • Hes_All_I_Want
my hubs thinks i'm a freak over this too! i've been wanting WH for awhile so this "twilight" version may be an xmas gift to me!

btw (a little off topic) - isn't posting comments and having these "conversations" just as addicting as reading the books and waiting for new pics of our favorite actors to be posted? i mean, i have to take 4 kids to the doctor about 40 miles away today and i haven't even gotten dressed cuz i can't stop posting!
  • What Obsession?
It is...I was late twice yesterday cuz I was posting and chatting with everyone.
  • stinalynn
    What's your favorite Jane Austen?

I don't wanna be sick of the Twilight Series by then. Please Stephenie...make em' slow it down...
  • KathyFeelsFireandIce
Seriously!!! you make a good point let's hope we wont get a twilight overload by the time Breaking Dawn is in the picture

SHOUT OUT RIMR!!! Save your time. It is a terrible story. I read it before and it is SO depressing. I was with Edward with this one. And I love the classics. Stick with the fanfics it is a better read.
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
    Hey there you are!! :0)

Thanks for the head's up, I would hate to put away fanfics for a poor read- you KNOW how addicting they can be!
  • Featherheaven~Team Leg Hitch
That's right! I can't even watch the movie! Now if it was Pride and Prejudice, well that is a different story!! Definately stick with the Fanfics!
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
Is Wuthering Heights super sad, then? I haven't read and of Jane Austen's books yet, eek! Don't shoot me!

We have a Mr. Darcy on here, I hope he doesn't see this comment and lynch me. LOL
  • Mr_Darcy
    I heard that! LOL

And Wuthering Heights is Emily Bronte actually.

The Bronte's stuff (cf. Jane Eyre if you've read that or seen films of it) tends to be much more sad than Austen's stories. Actually Featherheaven has it right, depressing is the operative word here.
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
    Oh, no, you've caught me!

I was more worried about you finding out I hadn't read Pride and Prejudice yet *gulp* I've only just seen the movie.

Not my fault, though- my English Comp I professor was a complete nut job, and was a huge Jane Austen fan. She scared me away from all sorts of great literature!

Either way, I don't like to read depressing things- I get my fill watching the daily news.

Perhaps I will pick up Ms. Austen's book soon though :)
  • Mr_Darcy
I wouldn't call it a bad read at all, but it's not for the faint-hearted. If you want a beautifully romantic story go with Austen's stuff, Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma are my personal preferences of hers.

The Bronte's are beautiful in their own right, but they touch on the dark side of human nature and the brutality of life more, a little like Charles Dickens, think Nicholas Nickleby more than A Christmas Carol though.
  • Featherheaven~Team Leg Hitch
Right on the Money Mr. Darcy! The film versions of P&P are varied but you have my favorite one and favorite Mr. Darcy. A&E two disc is the best I have found.
Like Janye Erye if we are talking the Bronte Sisters but never could re-read Wuthering Heights like I can for all of Austens. However, I think everyone should read it once.
  • RobismyRomeo (RIMR_)
Well thank you, Mr. Darcy, for your literary summations. I think I'll look into it, once I'm finished with all the fanfics, or once I get tired of them (if such a thing is possible).

Have you talked to 4TW lately? She threw a party in your backyard last week on here. We're having another this friday- a masked ball! Don't worry, we'll have it here in the States!
  • Mr_Darcy
A masquerade. Sounds like fun! (digs in closet to find Gerard Butler's Phantom of the Opera Masquerade costume.

    Thanks!
  • Kassielovesthecullens
OH I love Phantom OTP! Seen is 5 times on stage...know it by heart....That was MY Twilight....before there was Twilight. I was totally obsessed with Pahntom for like 13 years before Twilight came along.

*pulls out my masquerade outfit and starts singing*
  • Mr_Darcy
Why thank you. In my opinion Colin Firth is the only Mr. Darcy.
  • Featherheaven~Team Leg Hitch
You are so right!!! What is it with British men??? How funny was it that he went on to play "Mr. Darcy" on Bridget Jones!
    Love, Love, Love him!!!
  • NeGin*
i didn't read this book at all
  • NeGin*
    :)))))
  • o_vampire_heart_o
The left is the UK, I saw it in Blackwells during my work experience and I live in the UK.
  • othersescape
YAY! This is the first time anything I have sent in was posted! :D
  • LWNV (CHASKE felt my A$$!!)
What better way to help get all those teens out there to willingly read a good classic! Good marketing on their part.

Of course I need a new copy - my old copy is getting ratty...
  • jillEbean
Who has read this book and what are your thoughts on it?
  • Its good but lets just say, Stephanie Meyers writing is like sesame street in comparison to the Brontes...!!
  • jillEbean
    Makes sense :)
  • You should read it, if you like feisty women, sexy men and devestating heart ache.... LOL! Its Twilight without the happy ending...
  • jillEbean
Looks like I'll be adding that to my list :) I'm reading the Time Traveler's Wife right now and loving it
  • Oh my goh-hah-hahhhhhd the time travellers wife is my all time favorite book ever...

It was another twilight, all the girls I know passed it around and mine fell apart from all the tears sobbed into it!!

    it is a perfect book.
  • jillEbean
I'm about 2/3 of the way through :) I can't wait til the movie comes out. I have a feeling that it's not going to stick very closely to the book.. I could be wrong though
  • jillEbean
just finished it... now i know what u mean about sobbing into the dang book.. omg *sniffle*
  • LWNV (CHASKE felt my A$$!!)
    TOTALLY AGREE!!

I read all the Bronte sister's books when I was in Junior High...
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
Wow, you must have been a good reader! I teach 7th grade English and there is no way that the majority of my kids could make it through a Bronte book. Of course, I have to twist their arms and bribe them with candy just to read something like "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" hahaha
  • jillEbean
LOL I saw "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" while looking through some books yesterday and started cracking up. Looks like something I would have read when I was younger :) Love the title
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
Haha it is a great read for like 4th- 6th grade! Older kids read it too though because it is funny.
  • LWNV (CHASKE felt my A$$!!)
The only book I never made it through was Anna Karinina. I took Latin in 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th so my vocabulary skills were not too bad (thanks to Catholic school - ugg!)
  • hey_I_read (hitches and tents)
I never read that either. I studied four years of French, I bet Latin was hard!!
  • Ditto. I find that Stephenie isn't as much of a writer as she is a story teller. She tells an amazing story, BUT her writing is very juvenile and unrefined. But in all honesty, I almost prefer a good story to a good writer. After all, its the story that captures us, not the vocabulary and puncuation.
  • I'm hearing you! I couldn't get through the first chapter of Captain Corellis mandolin, beautifully written, but toooooooo many words...!

Stephanie Meyer hit on a great story with Twilight, but the writing is simple. Then she went and wrote the host, simple writing but ridiculous and boring storyline...!
  • taylorroxmysoxoff123
this is the most confusing book i tried to read and u have to use your brain a lot cause it makes no sence but i will read it eventually...
  • "You have to use your brain a lot"... isn't that the point of reading? Using your brain? I'm sorry but that statement is just so... I can't even say...
  • taylorroxmysoxoff123
ok i didn't mean it like that i meant i like to read books that i can get into and when i stop i can understand where i am i would have to continue so that i would understand (did that make sence) but do u understand what i am saying. like the twilight saga i could put it down even if i didn't want to and when i picked it back up i could understand.
  • TwiHardRach
I'd say it's pushing the whole merchandise thing a little too far, but it's still pretty cool :)
Also, Edward didn't really like it, his most positive comment was probably "Heathcliff has his moments"
  • Any of you who would like to listen to one of the best songs ever written - Wuthering Heights - please do! Kate bush tells the story - amazing!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv0azq9GF_g
  • I really hope this inspires kids to read more:) I really do! *Crosses fingers* Ridiculous, yes. But the lack of literacy in the US (and the rest of the world) is absolutely appalling .
  • Julies
This is just pushing too much. I read it in high school, and I didn't like it. Catherine just....she just made me so angry so much, that I had continually threw the book across the room.

But that's off topic, I get it could get more kids to read, but couldn't stephanie promote, I don't know, works like Jane Austen, Charles Dickinson, or Mark Twain? Some book that was less frustrating.
  • bwen
This was one of Bella's favourite books but not Edward's he could never understand why she like it!
  • That's how we spell "favorite" in the states, so it could be from the US. *shruggs shoulders*

I am a big fan of the classics, its part of why I love the Twilight series so much, its got classic elements. Love, jealousy, revenge, etc etc. I dont care what the cover looks like, I'll still always love Wuthering Heights.
  • twilight fan always x
yup its true the left is the u.k version!

i live in scotland and i saw the u.k version in w.h smith and bought it!

    i love it!

    xxx
  • LovesJasper
Actually, Wuthering Heights is NOT Edward's favorite book. He specifically states in Eclipse that he doesn't understand why Bella likes it......sheesh....anything to cash in on this franchise....
  • Yeah dear, Summit = crap LOL
  • hmm????
  • Mmmm...nop, thank you.

I love Twilight, more than I love Wuthering Heights (I like Jane Eyre more) BUT there's no reason in EARTH to tell to the young people that this book is important and interesting only because is "Bella & Edward's favorite book".

Is so wrong! If they take the cover of Sense & Sensibility only to say that "It's the novel that makes Bella think of Edward" everything would be wrong. Really wrong. Seriously.
  • kaleidoscope_eyes
    That's ridiculous.
  • cocolocofortwilight
hah on the front it says: Bella and Edward's favorite book!
haaa that be good enough for me
  • josie1990
omfg know that is just being rediculous, for one edward doesnt like wuthering heights, only bella did, so for them to get that wrong, and all the fans of that book will be totally POed, idk i thin they r takin this to far, im sure it would be okay if they didnt add the whole, bella and edward thing.
  • PeanutButterCupsandEdwardontop
This really angers me! Wuthering Heights is an epic in its own right. It has so many admirers, that it actually doesn't need this twilight promo. People should read it because of its own merits, not because its Bella's favourite book!
Sorry! I just HATE books with film/TV inspired covers on.
  • kerbear585
i figured sooner or later she would change the cover a bit since it is Bella's favorite book and she quotes it and thinks about stuff in it throughout the series. i have never read it. but maybe once this cover is available i will but it and read it =]

and i guess i didn't realize that it was Edward's favorite book too? did i miss something there?
  • TeamBella76
It doesn't matter if the writing lives up to it PEOPLE ! PEOPLE LOVE THE TWILIGHT BOOKS MORE AND THEY'LL READ ANYTHING THAT DEALS WITH IT SO LIVE WITH IT PEOPLE !!!!
  • MillyPattinson - Flippy (L)
I was going to buy this book before i knew about this cover and i still will, but i doubt ill buy this,
i mean it would have been okay if it was just the picture which subtely hints towards twilight, but to have "Edward and Bellas favourite book" is just going too far.
plus get your facts right, edward hates this book (despite being able to relate to heathcliffe) ...
  • bcwlove
ummm have anyone actually ever read that book! im stuck in the beginning of it...trying to figure out what the hell they are even saying.... damn not modern language ha ha i hate me lol.
  • PeanutButterCupsandEdwardontop
try to get a copy that has foot notes. they tend to translate the hard yorkshire dialect (especially josephs) for you in the footnotes. It is an amazing book, keep at it.
  • I have the boring, classic old version of this book & it does me fine. The fact is, I'm 23, most people that are super-obsessed with Twilight are in their teens. They won't even GET Wuthering Heights. Because of the language, complex story etc. This is just stupid, squeeeezing as much money out of Twilight as they can. If they want to make money selling Wuthering Heights they should just have promotions in stores, like buy new moon and get wuthering heights half price, not ruin the cover. Twilight is awesome & everything but we don't want it taking over everything!!

& I also find it hillarious that Edward doesnt even like this book, lol
  • vampire_luver
wow seriously?? thiz is jst ridiculous nd wuthering heights wasn't even Edwards fav. book ok..i mean read the book seriously
  • etandksmom
They are doing this with several of the books mentioned in the Twilight series.

    http://newmoonblog.weebly.com/1/post/2009/08/th...
  • damarisc
I just tried to read the first chapter of this book and got lost lmao
  • ohmy_feathers ♥ [since 03/09]
So I'm a little late on this post...You know as weird as I think this is, I hope some people will be encouraged to read the classics... I had never read Wuthering Heights and I was inspired to read it because of all the references in Eclipse... I like getting people to read...any means necessary... LOL! :D
  • janygrace
its bellas fave book, not edwards! wtf? does everything have to have something to do with twilight now?
  • janygrace
never read wuthering heights. btw. i do love pride and prejudice. meyer says that edward is like mr darcy or whatevs. i hate edward. i love r darcy so that cnt be right. mr darcy wasnt a controlling annoying person. he is awesome. edward isnt. my opinion, dnt yell at me please
  • fangbanger_steph_cullen
This is the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a while...

But I guess it just goes to show you how big Twilight is.
I wonder if Stephenie gets any money from this money making scheme...??? Because it doesn't directly acknowledge Twilight, it just says "Bella and Edward's favorite book". So, does that still apply to her Twilight royalties/copyright enfringment stuff???
  • bdwlf
i saw this in a bookstore and was horrified

this is just taking twilight advertisement too far
it wasn't even their favourite book
people should leave the works of Emily Bronte alone

im really angry about this and i'm someone who likes twilight
imagine how the twilight haters are going to react
  • lalaliv
No. Freaking. Way. NO they didn't! Dude, as if the Twilight cruise isn't enough.. they go and smother Emily's classic book in Twilight. It's not THAT fantastic.. I'm ashamed to read my Wuthering Heights book anymore because it's associated with Twilight.. I mean I do like it. But this is too much!
  • lalaliv
Oh yeah and I can't stand movie cover versions of books... Now imagine how angered I am by THIS.....
  • ingavenere
they are making a movie adaptation of wuttering heights with ed westwick as heathcliff and probably it will gain popularity, and like twilight and new moon will change book covers AGAIN, even if for just special release of movie-themed book covers.
  • teamgen
This is just awful. When Wuthering Heights' most attractie feature is that characters in a cheap romance vampire novel like it... I need to move to freaking England or something.
  • bettingonalicexo
i was in waterstones today, and this was in the kids chart
with all the twilight books taking the top 4
but like, its clearly only selling well because of twilight!
    its silly,
and to add to that, 50% of the books had 'twilight inspired covers' i wonder if they think that will help people buy them..

also bella and edwards favourite book?
    edward doesnt even like it!
  • missbcullen
Grrr it won't let me log into Disqus so I'll have to comment as a guest.
I live in the UK and I saw the cover a few months back when I was shopping with my friend. It was on this big stand with the Twilight books and I pointed it out to her. She picked it up and went 'Omg this book is such a copy of Twilight!' I was in shock. "Do you know what book this is?" I asked her and she said no. "It's Wuthering Heights! The classic! You don't saw it's copied of Twilight!" They should have kept more original covers for Wuthering Heights in my opinion
  • liabeanz
    http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid...

^^Facebook group for those against this.
No offense to the people who like this idea. I just don't like the idea of Wuthering Heights, a classic novel, being associated with Twilight. With all due respect to Meyer and the Twilight series, WH is in a league of its own.

Plus the other covers are absolutely gorgeous and we just like them better.
    So join please! =]
  • renesmecarlieblacullen
OMG i luv twilight so bloody much , and i also luv the acters who play them. K-Stewert i love u so much and u go girl for scoring edward and jacob in the movie , R-patz i love u and all but u dont love my kristian and that really sux coze i thought that us woulg ave been together , Jackson and Kellan yous 2 are so gorgous and hot i love yous , Nikki and Ashely both of yous i love so much and are so hot , Peter and Elezabeth yous are a awesome couple in the movie and in real life yous should be together , and of course Taylor and Rob love yous so much dont wanna choose between yous coze both of yous hav great bodies and are so hot and dont get any girlfriends not a smart thing for your career unless its K-stewert go right ahead with her. Loves yous all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Lilly Cullen
I admit that I am going to possibly buy these copies and although I do love twilight, I am possibly going to get them because I like the cover artwork, not because of the relation to the thwilight saga. Back to a comment very early in this, I agree that they should get it right, Edward doesn't really like Wuthering Heights.
These two books (Twilight and Wuthering Heights) may not be on the same plain, but I still think that they are both amazing books.
  • hannah_21
    It's Bella's fave book.. not Edward's.
  • freak4twilight
Not really. Its says its all Bella had to read not that its her favorite book. I bet she hated it by the end. And Edward despised it throughout the novel
  • Nurisim
Absolute sacrilege. Next they are going to be printing Stephanie Meyer's face on the book of Mormon saying "Favorite faith of Twilight author!"
  • beau_angelnz
I love the new covers , though its a classic story , rrealistically we are living in a judge by the cover world.
  • beau_angelnz
I do understand though , that in honest opinion it is silly to have Edward and Bella's fav book as that takes the true meaning away from people buying the book because it is a classic.
  • sam_ridings
I suppose the reason that I object to these new Twilight-inspired covers is because books should sell themselves; Wuthering Heights is a classic piece of literature published 162 years ago and has been popular ever since - it doesn't need Twilight to commend it. Books should be read because they appeal to the reader, whether or not this marketing tactic produces profit.

  • gizmonef
OK, This is probably taking the Twilight advertisement too far, I LOVE TWILIGHT, but changing the bookcovers of other books is kind of weird, i can see where they might think that this will get teens to read the classics and im sure its gng to work but its still a little weird. They could have done it in a different way, the sticker could have been a good idea if it werent for the fact that the information on it is completely wrong, if it only said something like idk "book that inspired Eclipse of the Twilight Saga" or something like that then i dnt know in my opinion it would look less weird. They should have keept the original covers though, it is an insult to the authors of the books that got their covers modified.
