Coincidence? New Moon to Premiere During a new moon, and Eclipse during an eclipse

newmoon050509The Twilight Examiner (aka Amanda Bell) has an interesting article in regards to the New Moon premiere date and the Eclipse release date -

On November 16th, the stars of The Twilight Saga: New Moon will line up in Los Angeles for the official premiere of the film.

The heavens, it seems, will also be lining up on that date as well. One Twitterer made an interesting connection between the date of New Moon’s offiical premiere and the lunar calendar.

November 16th will also be the date of a legitimate new moon according to the lunar phase calendar.

Clever? Methinks so.

Moving right along, it seems that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse could be subject to a similar coincidence. The Twitterer’s research proves correct in that on June 26th (four days before the release of Eclipse), a partial lunar eclipse will occur (with the next eclipse, a total eclipse, not due until December 21, 2010). If, like with New Moon’s premiere, Eclipse’s premiere takes place four days before the film’s release, Eclipse will premiere during an eclipse, and New Moon will have premiered during a new moon.

Ahhh .. I tend to agree – clever marketing indeed!

    ok this has nothing to do with anything but does anyone watch the new show "vampire diaries"? its an exact imitation of twilight: the guy is hot and pale, he constantly stares broodingly, he is frozen forever at 17, he is centuries old, he is in love with a human who is a brunette, he has super speed, he doesn't eat meat...u get the point! so then its on right now and the girl re-reads "wuthering heights"!?!?!?! SERIOUSLY!! i mean it's obv not nearly as good as twilight and this lead guy doesn't have anything on edward or rob but seriously! its great bc its like watching a twilightish show EVERY WEEK!! i highly recommend it!

    OK. I watched it again tonight and it wasn't nearly as bad as last week. Here's what I think they need to do. They need to amp up Damon's character big time. He is awesome. Elena needs to quit wearing clothes like she is going to strip at the club down the street. And I would really like Stefan if he was not such a blatant rip off of EC.

    The show has potential to me. At least there is some blood here and there. I am still giving it a chance.

    Ian's good but the character's very cliched. And Stephen is not only a poor-man's EC but a shadow of him. How could I watch a show and constantly be reminded of the greatness that came before AND be as enamored with him as I've been for Robward and Angel?

    When I see Robward, there are shades of Rob's inspirations but he's still Robward. Same for Angel, although Joss did an awesome job at creating such a individual character.

    I'm a gluton for punishment I guess. I think if Damon wasn't in the storyline, I would have given up by now. I agree with all you have said. It does pale in comparison to Twilight, but it's a vampire show that keeps me slightly entertained until New Moon comes out.

    It's not like I have True Blood anymore. :)

    I really like this show, yes, I know it's "almost like Twilight" but of course it never will, but still I think the show has potential. Yes, CC, it's like watching Twilight every week, something to fill the time until New Moon!

    On the same note, watched the first 4 episodes of seaon of of True Blood, it's good, Sookie is really irritating and "Bill" needs to shave, ugh, he always looks dirty! But it's good, gonna keep watching!

I agree it's like watching Twilight(that's why I like it) just a watered down Twilight:) I always thought Twilight should be made into a series.     haha coolieo! the other wk the library had a moon chart thinging and i checked it, i THINK it said that the 20th is a full moon. i dnt member. haha they should sooo get a sky rider thing that says new moon haha(;

    This happened for Breaking Dawn too. The day that Breaking Dawn was released after the usual Twilight, there was a New Moon, then a total solar Eclipse, so it makes the morning after Breaking Dawn!
