Thirteen Things I Learned From The Newly Released New Moon Trailer!

So, instead of looking up news, trying to find out something ‘new’ to post. I’ve decided to share with my fellow NewMoonMovie.org peeps (and all our other Twi family) the 13 things I learned from the New New Moon trailer. You might laugh, you could cry, or .. you could just think I’m 100% lame!

Either way, here it goes:

There is a flash back scene, obviously what we ‘missed’ in Twilight. They are giving us a back story in New Moon. No, that isn’t funny, but hey I said I’m going to tell you things that I ‘learned’, well that was one of them!

There is an empty table at the Forks High cafeteria. Sad, shocking, but ever so true! I just want to sit there! All p@$$ed off. WHY EDWARD, WHY?!

Edwards.Volvo.Is.Black. Or dark grey, or metallic something or other. But! It.is.not.silver. Calm down, it will be ok! right? I mean, surely THAT won’t ruin the movie! right, k?! Chillax!

HOLY Freakin’ crap! Edward Forkin’ Cullen (aka Mind Reader) can magically disappear!! WTH? He was like there, and now he is like gone ..

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the body style of Edward's Volvo. He went from a hatchback to a SUV style. The car from the first movie only had 2 doors.

I inherently need to look on here more but my main source has always and will continue to be Twilight Lexicon. But anyway, the "Black Volvo" thing is because it's a flash of Bella's imagination leading her to believe that Edward is there then...a second later he's not and neither is the volvo.

I really really hope they stick to the book for the fight scene in BD. I think they can have a lot of fun with the effects for it so we wont be bored.. like seeing a huge sheer dome cover all the good guys from Bella :) and a dark whispy smoke trying to find a way in.. would be very cool

I don't want to saund like a car expert, but Edward have never been driving the same car in the films as in the books. In the books he is driving a silver Volvo s80R, and in twilight he is driving a silver Volvi c30. (c30 is way smaller than a s80r). Anyway, in New Moon he is driving a Volvo XC60, (xc60 is much bigger too).

Sorry for bothering you guys with my boring 'story' about Edwards (FANTASTIC) cars - i just couldent help it! Hope you can forgive me?

Oh and by the way, i think the movie looks really good, but not as good as the books! :D

Ok so i didnt read all of the comments but did anyone notice in the preview that Bella hits a werewolf and doesnt get hurt. WTF? That so doesnt happen until Eclipse when she hits Jacob. I am glad that they added the flashback for Carlisles story and aslo that we will get to see In Eclipse Rosalie and Jaspers story. Still the movie looks to be better done than the first was so i am glad. Now i just have one more Question and that is:

I was talking to my husband about the trailer and my thoughts on Edwards Black Volvo:
Black is often associated with mourning
Edward is dressed in only black and grey and his Volvo is black, maybe it's Bella's mind "mourning" her losing him and so everything is black?

Naw, gotta change some things up since it's a different kind of entertainment. What works in a book, doesn't always work on the big picture. I enjoy them both...

it looked good for the trailor, but it doesnt really make sense cus it's not in the book. and it can't actually be a scene with edward cus why would he do that to bella? the breakup scene is in the woods..

I think it's another one of those, Bella sees a volvo and thinks that it's Edward but it's not. One of those hallucinations. One thing, Edward (Rob) doesn't "dissapear". Perhaps you were just being silly, but clearly, she is just imagining he was there. That is the movies' way of getting scenes of Edward in there without pulling away from the plot. Instead of Bella just hearing his voice, she will see him as well. Also, why oh why did they not shave Robert Pattenson's chest? Sigh. I hate chest hair. It just seems odd to me that a vampire would have excess hair, but i guess it makes sense all in all.

Well,since we haven't read in the book "Edward reveals his shaved chest.",I guess it wasn't necessary. But you're right,Ed doesn't dissapear,is only Bella's imagination.

Bella gets a ride from the guys in Port Angeles when shes with Jessica. She actually GETS ON THE FORKING BIKE with one of the dudes to hear Edward for the first time. It goes a bit beyond just walking up to them in the book. I suppose they need to go a bit beyond sometimes to visualize how far she goes. I liked it!

Everyone...The black volvo is not really there. Weitz uses it to show that the hallucination is just that & is apart of Bella's imagination. It helps distinguishes between reality & Bella's mind. SO, I bet Edward's Volvo is STILL silver.

I can't stop watching this trailer!!!!! It's almost unbearable to have to wait two more months! I keep pausing it and re-watching it. Chris Weitz did an amazing job with this movie. The fact that we can tell it's going to be amazing from the trailer is a great sign and I'm totally for Chris directing Breaking Dawn. I can't wait for November! Edward and Jake are just too hot for words....

P.S. Did anyone else notice how Bella is standing in the background when Laurent is being attacked by the wolves? I accidentally paused it during that part and caught it. 2. Who the hell knew two or three, (Notice the russet brown and light silver wolves aka Jake and I think Embry) could send a girl into shivers. For real…first howl and I may squeal.

3. Bella’s new found bravery against my favorite wolf. Something tells me she didn’t knock the fur-sploding out of my Paul in the book. (I thought it was Sam?)

4. A dark silver wolf phasing, and shaking it’s mane at our main character. *Raises hand* Can I just see his muscles rippling beneath his mocha skin? Each abductor muscle twitching as he growls.

a little frightening at times, especially when you were younger.

I guess that's true..as hot as it is and having to run the A/C a lot, it
would start to add up after awhile. Oh RFM...you really do need Edward to
cool you down! LOL Just like I need Jacob to keep me warm. I am cold like
all the time! I absolutely HATE winter for the cold and HATE summer for the
heat..I am a Fall type of gal...but even then I'm still freezing cold! I
have a slight "battle" with what's known as "Reynaud's Syndrome."

Basically it's when you're exposed to cool areas (outside, inside, A/C),
your blood vessels in your hands and toes constrict, allowing less blood to
flow to those areas, and as a result those areas become white, cold, and
sometimes numb. (hmmm...maybe I AM a vamp girl after all!) LOL Winter is the
worst! I wear two pairs of gloves and even then I can still feel the
coldness, and my fingers, especially my right middle finger a lot, turns as
white and cold as can be, especially at the tip, and goes numb. My feet are
the same way, and my nose gets all icy cold. I bundle up a lot in the
winter, even here inside, and sleep in layers, plus about three layers of
covers on my bed. Can you say Personal Space Heater, anyone? LOL

From one extreme to the other, huh? Guess we are definitely meant for our
chosen "Hot" and "Cold" men, aren't we?

Thing is, with Twilight you totally knew what you were missing, and that
made it even more painful to watch! I think CW will do a GREAT job of
getting in some of the backstory in a way that won't use a lot of

overdone.

Definately! and in twilight the added scenes that weren't in the book were so not needed. even when my sister saw it without reading the book first every scene she said was weird were added ones! Not to mention I think he should have told her that she talked in her sleep. In the book it's not so creepy because he hears her saying his name then he goes into her room, in the movie he just kinda like I like watching you sleep because i'm a protective freak! lol I wonder if they will just have Bella doing things in her sleep or if they will explain it? hmm...

Also there was sooo not enough of them together! There was one meadow scene used for everything! I wish there was a meadow scene and a different scene where she finds everything out, but I guess it's already over...

At least I feel like I'm really going to love all the aditions that Chris adds! Normally anything not in the book I'm against, but his additions just looked really good!

Totally got it...and totally understood! I think it's one of those things
where even though we have our complaints about it...quite a bit in some
areas...it's the only thing that gives us the visual to what we've read,
seeing so many of the parts played out, no matter how little there was of
certain scenes.

Seeing the wonderful faces of Rob, Kristen, and Taylor bringing it to life
only adds more to it.

I love how much emotion Kristen obviously gave to the role in this film. I was wondering - did you get uncomfortable when Kristen screamed in her sleep? The first time I heard it, I actually laughed. But it's not because I thought it was bad acting or anything, it was just super surprising. Now, every time I watch the trailer, it just gets more and more uncomfortable to hear that scream. I think it is good acting, I was just wondering how others felt about it.

It's all part of what they are allowed to get away with in the movies. It didn't make a whole lot of sense in the Twilight movie that James could get the better of Edward in the fight at the end.. If I remember the book correctly Edward never did the fighting it was his brothers who took care of that for him so he could be with Bella.

I wonder if they will finally show his benefit of knowing what is going to happen by his opponate in Eclipse. Both with the training session and his final fight with Victoria.

I think they used a black shiny volvo purely for for the sake of the halucination. Bella's world has become so dark, so saturated with darkness in fact, that everything she views is tinged with it. So it's only natural for her halucinations to show this as well. The once shiny silver volvo has become black, just as everything else for Bella when the light that Edward was for her left.

The screaming usually starts when she realizes there is nothing to search for, just more fog and forest. It's a paralyzing concept that terrifies her, I suppose a subconscious reflection of her genuine fear that she really will forget Edward.

I actually laughed when I heard it first, but it's not because I think it's bad acting or anything, it was just super surprising, and actually a really good scream from Kristen. But now every time I replay it I get more and more uncomfortable, which I actually think is a really good effect.

First of all:
The Twilight Volvo WAS from Washington. The shot in the movie was of the car he cut off and it was spinning out.

Second of all: The New Moon Volvo's plates are exactly the same (letters and numbers) as the Twilight Volvo. So all is well because there is your continuity.

We don't know for sure Edward's volvo isn't silver in the movie. All we know is that the trailer shows a clip of Bella hallucinating and seeing Edward in front of a black volvo. It isn't necessarily Edward's volvo, maybe she sees a similar car to the one he owned and remembers him.

i also noticed the color change and am a little disappointed about it since the book references the "shiny silver volvo"...i guess they didn't think it was that big of a deal but to the fans it really stands out and is a little irksome...

i know the movies are an adaptation of the books, but can they at least get the small important details right?? i mean the wardrobe in Twilight was off on sooo many occasions that i was screaming in my head "all wrong" (Bella wears blue sweater to Port Angeles and Edward comments on it so when she meets Edwards family = blue sweater he loved and skirt NOT jeans and green shirt)...i am one of those that notices the little things bc that is what i am drawn to in the books and it's just my nature to see what i see in the book especially if it's key to the story, so i am hoping they at least get some of the small things right in this movie :>

You are correct. The first Volvo that Edward drives is the C30 in Silver....but now they have not only changed the color but also the model. He is now driving the XC60 in Metallic Black. I think I love volvo's almost as much as I love Edward...haha...

i think the model in the movie is different than what they descibed in the books. i like the new model and all for eclipse and soo on but why did they change the cars...like eventually when they show the garge again will the volvo from the first movie be there? i see edward in a fast sleek volvo..like i said to be more realistic they get new cars once and a while. i think the new volvo is bulky for him but i love it.

Maybe he decided he didn't want to be part of a franchise and thought Twilight would be an indy film.

hahah the only thing that bother me about the black volvo ( bc it realy doesnt bother me at all bc i think its suits edward better bc black is mysterious) haha but the fact that. CMON its silver in the book, why is it so hard to keep it silver, with all the money and pull you have, was it tht impossible to get a silver volvo? i just feel like they want to piss us off with the small things lol.. like they purposely torture us! take the cake for example!! haha but oh well im so in love with the movie that im not complaining, jsut ticked off bc thats what they wanted out of us haha.

Although, if you look at the behind-the-scenes pics for Eclipse, the volvo is black! So, it could just be that they decided to change the colour. Maybe Volvo bribed them to promote a different model? Or colour? (hmm...that last one doesn't work!)

I don't care about the color as much - but I am glad they found a model of Volvo that will fit a motocycle in the back (Eclipse) - that's been bothering me for a while!

I agree with you Indy, I think maybe that has something to do with it. I mean, think about it, why would Edward's car be there if Edward had already left town? Bella is depressed, (( think I remember her slumped against the car) and hallucinating and seeing Edward walking in front of the car, and then he disappears. So at that point in the movie, Edward is already gone, and his volvo wouldn't be around anymore.
Who knows if the Volvo they used when Edward WAS around was silver, hopefully it is. But the one shown in the trailer was probably put in for the purpose of Bella remembering Edward because she sees a volvo, not Edward's actual volvo
