You sum up our discussion about Bella's choices and her big decision as a teen simply. I think teens have to face big decisions and love seems to be very important. A first love is not forgotten. So I suppose for Bella setting her eyes on Edward, she instantly felt this attraction to him that I feel may be more than his abilities as a vampire to attract her. Maybe because he is pretty but it could be her interests/desires in his mystery to her. She also saw Jake first once she arrived to Forks. Instantly he was there to help her and learn the ropes (ie to her truck). I suppose the spark was not significant at the time until she spent a lot of time in New Moon with him. I thank SM for doing this because it shows how relationships are paramount, and you do not always focus your life around just one. Relationships/friendships can be rather complicated.

I guess it's me that I would have wanted her to love again if some reason her Edward never reconnected or something tragic happened. I know it had to be hard for Jake to be second best. I think Bella was quite lucky to have both Edward and Jake in her life. Lets you know their sense of maturity in regards to this. To stick by her regardless their feelings toward one another. Jake also knew that Bella's heart was already taken. It was a risk to help change her mind. I still admire Jake for going after what he wants. Likewise for Edward he never let anything come between them even if he made a haste decision to leave her (can we say it was a break up?).

I think Jake was growing impatient that it took a toll on him which he needed time from the pack. You're right that they were both willing to be patient. Only to an extent because they both grew either furious or doubtful in regards to how Bella felt about the other. Speaking of New Moon, they just showed the trailer on MTV. They are showing the trailer now on television.

I was in Hot Topic over the weekend which I could not decide what tee shirt I wanted. I wanted to represent the Native Americans, but I also adored this Edward tee that I saw. I still want it. I decided to get a Jacob shirt. It has his face with the tribal tatoo behind in the background. I saw a lot that I wished I had money for. I have the Jacob charm bracelet as well. I'm ready for New Moon.

But yes-I think that will always be the unanswered question in the saga. Hypothetical if Edward never came back would Bella eventually allow herself to fully love Jacob. & knowing jacob would he just stayed w Bella even he she didn't fully allow herself or would he finally let her go. (but I don't think Bella could live w out him or Edward although she does state this in the saga) I think one thing we can agree on Bella had made up her mind if she was going to be w a love or soulmate for the rest of life it was defintely going to be Edward or Jacob. (and that's a pretty heavy decision as a teen). So therefore you slightly understand Bella for prolonging her decision(intenionally or unintentionally) bc she was scared she could have lost one of both. (luckily for her she got to keep both in her life).

Yes, I feel as though Edward thought he might have been holding her back from experiencing a human life bc he realized Bella was making rational decisions when it came to him. But he tried to convince her to live her life as normal as possible & he would love her regardless of her age. (and you have to admire Edward for that) but brings up another point that Bella had to make a decision amongst them(not only for being selfish and breaking hearts) but they were both willing to wait for her no matter how long that would take. (& when it comes to Bella I would say they're both pretty patience).

You have good points in regards that it was easier for ppl to blame Jake because they were not able to fully see the entire picture with Edward and Bella. I do wonder if Edward felt that he was overwhelming Bella's life, and wished for her to only be human. It's like they talk seriously about school and her waiting, but Bella was resistant to the idea to wait for anything else in his life any longer. Ppl see Edward made a major sacrifice, and to others opinions' it was an ultimate sacrifice. At the same time, how would he feel knowing Bella would be even more distraught? I think the traveling of news was intersting in New Moon where Alice's visions made things apparently unreal. How Rosalie cause perplexion for Edward as well. Yet he was willing to stay away from her until he realizes he cannot.

So why fight your feelings if you want this more than you think you deserve (pertaining to Edward about Bella)? Edward had a difficulty trusting Jake but I think more knowing Bella was willing to give into her feelings around him. I think no guy mortal or immortal are able to accept. Yes you're certainly right that Edward became more overprotective or Bella to the point where I think he was being overbearing and controlling. Yet we know a lot of this was coming out of fear. He too had a first real relationship/ to be in love.

It's so interesting how we can break down the instances between the character to see the big themes that SM focuses like loyalty, fear, compromises/sacrifice, family ties, blood ties, openness, supernatural vs. natural, hardships, death, rebirth (second chances), legends, solidarity, protectiveness with courage, teamwork, etc. All the major themes that we face today as human beings are systematically used to tell a story in a way that is in perspective of a young girl about love, family, fears, dreams, and hopes. I think Bella gets to know herself from Twilight to BD, how she develops herself and begin to start thinking of no more Bella in Phoenix and looking after herself but more to looking at her loved ones including herself in a sense of an unbreakable bond. She begins to think as a Cullen and interact with everyone as Bella. The entire time it was her trying to fit in everywhere even with the Cullens and Jake's world on the Quileute res. We know her trying to fit in at school and her own birth family. Bella never likes to let herself lose control.

I think her looking at the supernatural aspect was a way for her to be with Edward. She knew that she only had so much time to be with Edward, and found it hard to comprehend with getting older. While he will always remain 17, technically he is older than her of 108 years, but the human part of him died a long time ago with this new aspect of him been in existence for over a century. He just wanted her to have a normal life and grow old with him. How in physical sense because he will never age whereas she would? Death is like a reoccurring theme in every book. Did you notice? This close to dying theme for Bella. It is almost like the supernatural could be an enemy because it found herself with dealing with trouble and knowing entirely too much.

Yes I agree with you that Bella and Edward both had their obsessions with one another pertaining to blood, sense of smell, and physical attractions. Since Edward is a vampire, he knows everything about him will draw his vulnerable prey in to him. All the things unique and beautiful about him was also very dangerous. Bella was vulnerable to this and other things about him which amazed her from playing the piano to being her protector. She feels safe with him because she doesn't have for once someone to be responsible for or to take of like she did with her mother.

Ppl also have to remember that Jake is a teenager in all sense. Sometimes his maturity is still being developed and being responsible for his choices. To Jake, Bella is his first love. Even after the imprinting. He still loves her. He know he has to let go to have the next second best thing that is a part of Bella. I think Bella expected a lot from Edward and Jake. That expectation was her need to control what's to be desired or not. I understood Jake more and more as I read from New Moon to BD. I never objected to his moodiness or his need to runaway or his decision to act haste because it was all in the name of Bella. Even his willingness to allow the fight in Eclipse and be alliance with the Cullen family, the theme of protecting family rung true for Cullens and Quileutes.

I have refused to watch anymore trailer teasers. It gives a glimpse of what's to be expected, where I just want everything else to be a surprise. It's like having to refrain even to read on certain interviews. Though Bella has the love of two guys, it still is not easy for her to choose between them. It means that someone will be hurt. Relationships are this way because you could love both at the same time with running risks of losing one or both. Bella had to decide which she was willing to be in love with. For her it will always be Edward. It's not to say that she couldn't or never thought of it with Jake. Jake and Bella fought a lot with each other. Both were not willing to give in more than the other. For Jake it was inescapable.
