I was expecting 2 1/2 hours as well, especially since Weitz said the initial cut of the movie was over 3 hours long. It's surprising that he cut over an hour from the film.

Makes me think that the dream sequence we saw in the LA Times didn't make it in. I hope I'm wrong because it looked pretty wicked.

well, remember the cutting room floor... im sure there are montages, like in the previews, of multiple things, a small glimpse of somethings is better than nothing... plus plenty of deleted scenes for dvd... I think we're going to be ok, in fact I'm hoping we're going to be fantastic... 2 hrs is good, at least its not an 1hr and a half, i would be really worried then!... its not a disney movie... (which i love)... lol!...

I am upset, i had really hoped to movie would be minimum 21/2 hours but closer to 3. what a let down. I hope they make eclipse and breaking dawn longer. got more than that out of harry potter and lord of the rings. jeesh!

yeah Twi was 2 hours and it was 2 hours of almost disaster and missing scenes. i really hope NM is like the book...no important scenes missing. grrr i really hoped it would be at least 2:20. *sigh*

i thought it would also be around the 2.30 time mark.as theyre rivaling harry potter, you think that they woul;d at least go to around the same sort of time.
twilight did miss alot of scenes and the baseball/tracker james bit didnt quite make much sense , as in the book it takes a lot of pages lol.
plus scenes cant be missed out of this film, as anything that is taken out will mean that some of the story wont make a 100% sense.
they made that mistake in harry potter and the order of the phoenix, by taking out the quidditch.now having seen the sixth one where harry potter is now the captain of the griffindor tem, doesnt make much sense.
i really want it to be a bit longer...

but yay on how good the adverts are!seen my first new moon advert on friday and omg the wolves are freaking excellent!!!!
the only problem is i cant watch them because i always seem to see all the best bits and i dont want to ruin the film too much as i want to see how good it is! i know ive read the book, but i want to see how good chris weitz's interpretation is!

I am grateful, it's just that I expected it to be longer than Twilight since there was a bigger budget to work with and a different director who understood what the readers wanted. and lets not forget that NM is way deeper than Twi. from what we've seen, CW has done amazingly in putting the important scenes and even the tiny details from the book, so that's why I thought too it would be longer.plus watching the vamps and wolves for a little longer wouldn't hurt too LOL

Wow, that was the official running time for Twilight, too! At least that's what it said everywhere, but I remember the running time in the DVD was a few minutes shorter!

So we'll be leaving the cinema at 2.02 am then! Yay that's a good amount of time, can't wait!

According to IMDb it was 122 minutes, they include the end credits...so I guess it the same with New Moon.
Twilight without end credits was 1.57 minutes I think.

well you know twilight was said to last 2.05 hours. but it included the credits which were 7 minutes long..

That is the exact amount of time Twilight got and it was a sham for the story. I was hoping they would try to do better for New Moon which is a longer book. New Moon is almost 80 pages longer than Twilight......Leave it to Summit, this must mean the story is slashed more than the last movie.
For those of you that only want to look at Robert I am sure you will not care. For those of us that love Edward and the books it is sad!
I do not know why I hoped for more, Summit can't even get little things correct such as the colors. Anyone that knows the books knows that Edward loves silver for his cars and blue is his favorite color for Bella. Pages are devoted to this in the book. I wonder if anyone at Summit has actually read the books.

I agree! I have been looking...waiting...and basically stalking all internet sources to find an offical run time for New Moon. I live in Kansas and the theatre I got my tickets at does not list a run time. Last year Summit released the run time for Twilight about a month before it came out...there was a big article on it from Mtv. So maybe this is not the official run time!! I want it to be over two hours by more then two minutes! bah! Heres to hoping!!!

I have to say I am a little pissed about the run time and i do think it is weird that it is the say as Twilight. I checked several of the Harry Potter movies and they all ran around 2hrs & 20 mins on average so why oh why can't New Moon. I hope that David Slade is listening and taking notes "We want longer movies". I am sure New Moon will be awesome but 2hrs & 2mins is just not enough.

I hope Summit didn't do to Chris what the studio did to him on Golden Compass they recut it to what they wanted not what he visioned.
