new moon re read Let’s Re Read New Moon Together! Chapter 4

We are on chapter 4 of our countdown that means 21 more days until the release of New Moon.  Join us by reading a chapter a day together.  So in order to help pass the time while we wait for New Moon to be released, I will continue to post a thread everyday for each chapter in the book, counting down the days until the official release of the film on November 20th.

Chapter 4: Waking Up

“Forbidden to remember, terrified to forget”

But not really. Bella is never truly awake, she continues to be in the same lifeless downward spiral and who can blame her? Her very core of existance has abandoned her. “It will be as if I never exisited.” *Shudders the thought*

Key points in this chapter for me were:

  • I love how Jessica treated Bella after the whole “man on the street” incident, did Bella really think Jessica would buy that line that she may have known that guy?
  • And out of all the characters Jessica annoyed me the most, but she really saved this chapter for me. To me she really was a stand up gal for even putting up with someone who basically ignored her for months.
  • Then there’s the bedroom scene. Bella returns home from the movie with Jessica, runs up to her room and Stephenie Meyer does an excellent job of illustrating the pain & sorrow Bella is feeling, through words.  “I lay in my bed a few minutes later, resigned as the pain finally made its appearance.  It was a crippling thing, this sensation  that a huge hole had been punched through my chest, excising my most vital organs and leaving ragged unhealed gashes around the edges that continued to throb and bleed despite the passage of time.  And yet I found I could survive. I was alert, I felt the pain-the aching loss that radiated out from my chest, sending wracking waves of hurt through my limbs and head-but it was manageable.  I could live through it.   Whatever it was that had happened tonight-and whether it was zombies, the adrenaline, or the hallucinations that were responsible- it had woken me up.”

What gets me the most is that it’s like a couple hundred of pages before we even see the name Edward in print. This book makes me an emotional mess, but I warned you all, I will not be bubbly during New Moon, well not until Chapter 17 at least… new moon re read icon smile Let’s Re Read New Moon Together! Chapter 4

I truly look forward to reading your comments on this depressing chapter.

new moon soundtrack must see exclusive feature chris weitz subtle details quote1 Exclusive Report: New Moon Soundtrack Panels at Billboard Conference with Director Chris Weitz, Composer Alexandre Desplat and Soundtrack Supervisor Alex Patsavas Yesterday in Los Angeles, the Billboard Film and TV Music Conference featured a huge presence of New Moon heavy hitters in relation to the score and soundtrack of the movie.

Moon from Letters to Twilight graciously served as our guest reporter to bring you this amazing information from the conference–including a very brief exclusive interview with New Moon director Chris Weitz himself!

The conference featured two Twilight New Moon themed panels. One discussing the soundtrack success featuring New Moon soundtrack music supervisor Alex Patsavas, a VP from Atlantic Records and Paul Katz, music consultant and uppity up at Summit Entertainment.

The other New Moon themed panel was “A Conversation with a Director and Composer” featuring Chris Weitz and Alexandre Desplat who discussed New Moon and its score and music for a hour. Now, this was some hardcore discussion regarding the composition of the score, influences how they began the process, etc. It was NOT a panel where they discussed Robsten or anything about the actors other than what pertained to the topic of the New Moon score.

I’ll be writing a more in depth post in the next few days reviewing both panels in more depth but for today I’ll give you a quick overview of some juicy tidbits from Chris’s panel and what WE, yes WE I met the man himself talked about after the panel. Hang on kiddies, we’ll get there but first some of what Chris and Alexandre discussed:

  • There were themes (musical) created for for each character. IE one for Bella, one for Bella and Edward, one for Jacob
  • To reflect the confusion in Bella’s mind after Edward leaves, at times the “Edward” and “Jacob” themes are “blurred” together to help created “subliminal confusion” in her mind
  • Jacob’s “theme” features electric guitar. Alexandre used a guitar that sounded very similar to an Indian sitar and Chris jokingly reminded him that Jacob is Native (Indian) American not Indian from India
  • The score will not featuring any of Carter Burwell’s score. (I’ll expound more on this decision in a later post)
  • And the most important info: Chris wore a lot of olive and tan. He was in full on DILF mode with cargo pants, striped socks (i love a good sock!), some sort of olive sweater and a leather man purse. Work it Chris, WORK IT!

After I explained who I was I thanked him for being part of the panel and proceeded to tell him that we as a fandom wanted to thank him for doing such an outstanding job with New Moon and that from the looks of things on November 2oth we were going to love the final film. Then I asked what he was most excited for fans to see in the movie. He answered that he wanted us to hear the rest of the score (yea, yea panel’s over pal, give us the real answers!) since we hadn’t gotten to hear much and I said that we heard “The Meadow” and that I thought Alexandre’s song “The Meadow” was beautiful and that some of the fans had expressed that they thought “Bella’s Lullaby” should have been more like “The Meadow” that the song was that great. His eyes lit up and pretty much said “really!? I’ve heard some good things from the fans” and I asked him if he went online and read what the fans were saying or if he watched any reaction videos and he said that he did and that everything he’d heard was positive and that he was really excited about our reactions and then went on to say most of all he really couldn’t wait for us to see the ENTIRE movie and not just clips and leaks. I jumped in and asked him what he thought about all the leaks and spoiler clips that people were seeing online and on TV shows and if he liked them. Chris told me that “Ya know what, I really believe less is more” and that he wished there weren’t so many clips out for people to see until the big day. I told him I felt the same way and couldn’t wait to enjoy the full film.

For Moon’s full report, be sure to visit Letters to Twilight for the rest of today’s report, and stay tuned as we both bring you more detailed info in the days to come!

Also, be sure to read Billboard’s own cover story on the New Moon phenomenom!

PopSugar Rush has a 2 part video series outlining the 7 reasons why Halloween is popular this year. One of the main reasons is the major return of Vampires this past year, with the Twilight Saga contributing hugely to that and giving us all werewolves as well!

The videos also give you some cool Halloween costume ideas. Even an appearance by Edward Cullen … cardboard style!

This has been the first Halloween that has fell on a Saturday night since 1998!

ashley greene ashley greene3 Ashley Greene Talks About Her Favorite New Moon Scenes America’s favorite sister/best friend, Ashley Greene talks to MTV.com about her favorite New Moon scenes, hanging out with the cast while off screen & how she credit’s “Alice” to her new found fashion sense.

MTV: What was your favorite “New Moon” scene to shoot?

Ashley Greene: Of course, the Porsche was incredible, the whole experience of filming [that scene]. Working with Michael Sheen, it was just really funny how he created this whole atmosphere out of the scene and could switch it up. Everything that he did was a little bit inspired, and so the whole Volturi scene with him was really fun to do. [I also love] the whole Cullen scene, when Bella gets a paper cut and Jasper goes crazy — you haven’t seen that side of him yet. The performances are great, and the whole dynamic is really great. That was one of my favorite scenes to watch.

MTV: You guys have become such good friends and have so much downtime between takes. What sort of things do you talk about when the cameras aren’t rolling?

Greene: Between takes? Gosh, everything. YouTube was a big topic of conversation; we were sharing YouTube videos. Which was kinda funny, because [we'd be filming a] really intense situation, and then they would yell, “Cut!” and we would have 20 minutes and we’d break out “Kittens Inspired by Kittens.” It’s this little girl reading a kittens book. [Laughs.]

MTV: Do you feel more like Alice now than when you did “Twilight”?

Greene: I feel like I was like the character a little bit anyways. I was really excited to play Alice in the beginning because she is a really positive, bright light — and a very moral vampire. I was saying in the beginning that I felt that I was [as well], and that was relatable. At least, I try to act [positively]; I don’t know if we can all the time. [Also] she’s really close with her family obviously, and that was there from the get-go, so I felt like the only other thing I could do to get closer would be to become a vampire or see the future. [Laughs.] [But] fashion-wise, yes. Fashion-wise, I have become a lot more like Alice Cullen, because she is probably the most fashionable out of the Cullen clan, and I’ve recently become obsessed with fashion.

Alice is definitely my favorite Cullen, everything about her is pure perfection, as far as Ashley Greene is concerned, she is a gem in my eyes. Check out the full interview at MTV.com

(Thanks BellaCullen!)
