A short sneak peek of the New Moon Soundtrack, due to hit shelves on October 20th. The above video gives you a short clip of each song!

Entertainment Weekly also gave their review of the New Moon Soundtrack. Here is what they had to say -

After the success of the first installment, music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas (Gossip Girl, Grey’s Anatomy) gets her pick of the alt litter here, with each contributing original, previously unreleased material: From the opening chords of Death Cab for Cutie’s dusky guitar rapture ”Meet Me on the Equinox” to the spooky robot-ennui of Thom Yorke’s ”Hearing Damage” 
 and Grizzly Bear’s gorgeous folk-pop pastoral ”Slow Life,” New Moon rarely falters. A peacocking remix of Muse’s shamelessly operatic ”I Belong to You” becomes a Bowie-esque glam-rock stomper. In its wake, Bon Iver and St. Vincent quietly unfurl ”Rosyln,” a duet of hushed, almost church-like beauty.

Moon (due in stores Oct. 20) yields several happy revelations from its lower-marquee names: Nordic songstress Lykke Li’s nearly a cappella ”Possibility” is a lovely little Swedish snowflake, and jokey rockers OK Go achieve an impressive sort of Flaming Lips-y quirk-gravitas on the sprawling, cinematic ”Shooting the Moon.” Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s acoustic campfire lament ”Done All Wrong” segues seamlessly into the jaunty, Strokes-ian guitar fuzz of Hurricane Bells’ ”Monsters.” Think of New Moon as a sort of survey course in new-now-next rock: a mixtape with teeth.     The Soundtrack F-ing Blows. I don't like miley or the jonas brothers and i actually know almost all of the artist on here... But these songs... are you kidding me... I cant believe how much you guys are butt pirating this soundtrack just because its for new moon.

    I cant believe those were songs they came up with. granted there are 3, count them 3 good songs on that cd. Ugh... its fluff, no one can sit here and say any of those songs come close to conveying the emotion that runs through new moon.

    i think some of them you have to listen to a few times over to like them. when i first heard meet me on the equinox, i was indifferent but then i ended up actually liking it after i heard it a few more times. and i think its okay that fans like this even if its just for new moon because its exposing fans to a different music base and i think thats a wonderful thing. whether or not it goes with new moon or not, i think it cant be determined until you see the movie because sometimes its the music and the scene not so much the lyrics. ur opinion is your opinion though.

    I agree completely, I was very optimistic for the NM soundtrack after Death Cab For Cutie but I totally prefer Twilghts soundtrack, I didnt feel any of these songs(minus the 4 I liked) fit NM but I still have a little hope that they fit their scenes in the movie

    ...and I saw as a special bonus on i-tunes there are a couple of other tunes included with their soundtrack download, one them Mozart--for the Volturi scenes? Can't be more excited! Nothing more interesting musically to me than Mozart!

    I was hoping for Resistance or Undisclosed Desires by Muse, but I Belong to You is growing on me. I love the Nocturne piano on the end of United States of Eurasia; it feels very somber to me.

    My favorite Bach piece is Concerto for Four Harpsichords. I don't know what Mozart I like, by name, that is, but I'm sure there's something. You don't take 10 years of ballet class without a little Wolfgang every now and then. . LOL

    An original movie soudtracks work best in the movie as it flow with the story line and the moods of the movie.

    I don't think I would 've liked " My heart will go on by Celine Dion" if it wasn't in Titanic.

    So, for me I guess I'll wait untill I'll actually hear it in NM on Nov 20, :0

    Yh, I feel the same way.

    I saw a lot of comments on another website, and they all were like "wow, it's so mechancolic, it's so sad, it's so beautiful" , but I was like "what the hell is that ?"

    I know we can't all have the same tastes and all, but what I heard didn't sound melancholic at all.
    I didn't imagine that when I read New Moon, of course I have my own playlist. It seems to me that those songs don't really match Bella's pain. Idk if you see what I mean.. I was waiting for sth more depressed. Just acoustic sounds, with piano/guitar/violin only. Even the Alexandre Desplat's theme doesn't sound that melancholic. For instance, Christopher Libertino's theme in Speak (Idk if you watched it) moves me much much more.

    Plus, some of the New Moon songs sound weird, but not in the right way. I don't know.

    And I see what you mean, I don't think I would have liked Celine Dion's song if it wasnt Titanic's song either.

    Lol yh. Well, Idk if I will like it more when NM comes out, I hope so at least. But yh, I mean, we don't have heard the whole songs yet, and they may be great in NM.
    But for now, I can't tell you I love those songs, because it's not the case.

    i agree with you.
    everyones judemental bc they cant see it fitting into the movie.
    but then again when i heard supermassive black hole by itself i didnt like it, but seeing it alongside the baseball scene. i now love it. and it had nothing to do with just liking it bc it was in twilihgt, i liked it bc it was a great song to go along with that scene. =D

    It definitely a good idea to wait until the movie comes out to finally decide if you like it.
    It can change everything. There are songs Ive never been the slightest bit interested in before, then heard on a movie I've loved, & changed my opinion completely.
    My favourite songs ever are connected to certain memories or emotions, films etc. :)

    And, when you listen to those songs, you just picture what they remind you of :)

    So yes, I'll wait and see in the movie. Actually, I didn't want to listen to this sneak peek of the NM soundtrack, bc I knew either I was going to love it, or I was going to be disappointed, and I wanted to see all the movie, that is to say with the music included, and not the music alone.. Idk if you see what I mean, but well, anyway I couldn't resist, and I regret it x)

    A friend of mine, just told me that some fans had the chance to see the movie, so that they can be sure of what they've done with it. And apparently it's amazing, and the last 10 minutes of the movie are awesome and beautiful and great !

  • Wow, they must've gone to a screening of the film for the producers to gage whether certain scenes worked well or not. Sometimes scenes are added afterward if there's time according to what the audience says. I wanna know how I can be part of that darn it.

    God, the last ten minutes??? What is that? Ooh, that's' the proposal scene and the forest scene where Jacob says goodbye to Bella. I bet they liked those scenes cause they haven't been spoiled in the trailers LOL.

  • Well, yes, I remember some words and some conjugations but definitely lost like 80% of what I learned. I can't hold a conversation at all.

    I don't live in the main city, I live in the outer boroughs. But the way this city works, as with other cities, is if you have money, it's fantastic. If you don't, then it's the pits. But there's always something to do. It's the 24/7 city.

    I think both cities are equally expensive, although I heard London is more expensive than both. Are you far from Paris?

    Yh, London seems to be a lot more expensive. Their crisis is much more important than ours apparently.
    Well I live in Paris. But in two weeks I'm moving. It really breaks my heart to leave, but since I'm not major, I'm not earning money, so I have to follow my parents. T_T .. But the "city" I'm moving to is about 1hour away from Paris.

  • I loved the violet hour!!!!!!! my favorite so far and i have to agree and say that this soundtrack is fantastic! the thing with these soundtrack is that is very indie and it doesnt rely on big names to hold itself. the songs are there because of the lyrical value and some people might not like them at first because they are used to a media with catchy songs with no depth to them.
  • Overall, I think CW did a great job with most of the songs because I like most of them. Even, though some people are thinking the contrary, the songs are great!. Love them. Kudos to CW :) But again everyone has their own different taste in music. So looking to hearing some of these musics in NM! Can't wait!

    What an amazing sound trek I can’t wait anymore, the last some the Meadow just gave me goose bumps all over, I’m a sucker for a good classical piece of music, he even my one year old boy, came over to have a look to see were the music was coming form and he had a little groove, so it’s gets his thumbs up.     Omg Omg Omg Omg. Can I say that I love the meadow song? Alexander Desplat is a wonderful composer and a genius. !! I am so glad that the people who are part of the New Moon Soundtrack have a style of music that fits the break up mood && that there are many bands that aren't extremely known. I find that beautiful. "Satellite heart" sounds like its going to be a HUGE hit, and "Meet me on the Equinox", is one of my favorite songs right now, so yeah. I am soooo happy, that they didn't accept any of those little brat bands that were definitely trying to get their hands on this sountrack.

    Hallelujah Twilight gods.

    I TOTALLY AGREE! I love all of Alexander Desplat's compositions and was really happy to hear he was joining CW for New Moon. The meadow music sounds so much more romantic and sweet tinged with a bit of sadness, they way I had imagined it when reading the books. I felt the score for Twilight, at times, sounded a bit rocker cheesy (Humans Are Predators Too) and with the exception of the Lullaby, Stuck Here Like Mom and The Skin of A Killer, did not communicate the romanticism I was expecting. For those that like the Meadow song, check out the soundtrack to The Painted Veil.

    Satellite Heart is definately the best. Meet Me On The Equinox was the right choice for the main song of the movie, though. Besides, the music video seems perfect.
    All of these songs are mighty deep and sad, which is a good thing, I suppose.

    The last song, The Meadow, is awesome. I can't even describe it. It made my eyes in tears.

    I'm the same way. None of these are jumping out at me at the current moment. But it will probably be like the Twilight Soundtrack, I will love all the music after I see the movie and am able to relate a song to a particular scene.

    Some pop crap is ok. Why can I NOT get enough of Lada GaGa? Yes, I am admitting it.

    "The Meadow" is amazing! So heartbreaking, so full of emotion...I love it.
    I knew that Desplat is an amazing composer, when I first heard he'll do soundtrack for NM I checked him out and I was really impressed.

    For now I really like Death Cab for Cutie, Band of Skulls, Thom Yorke ...I'll need to hear the rest in the movie or at least full versions to know what to think about them.

    How about you search for some of their songs instead of waiting for New Moon to come out? I'm actually a big fan of Death Cab and Thom Yorke. I'd started researching Band of Skulls when the track listing came out. My favorite song by them is I Know What I Am, but Friends is definitely sounding like it's gonna take the place of that, so I can't wait to hear the whole version! Death Cab is awesome! Title and Registration is my favorite DCFC song, but then so is Sound of Settling and No Sunlight.
    For Thom Yorke, as a solo artist, my favorite song is The Clock. But when we're talking about how he's the lead singer of Radiohead, wellllll, then my favorite songs are probably There, There, Faust Arp, Paranoid Android, and My Iron Lung.

    Maybe this will help ya, maybe it won't. *shrugs* Hope it does though!

    Acutally I have Band of Skull's album. I like them a lot. "I know what I am is a great song" but my fave is "Honest".
    I have last DCFC also...I liked them before but I was never really interested in owning an album by them. Narrow Stairs is great, my fave for that one is "Greapevine Fires".
    I am a fan of Radiohead but I must admit I was never really interested too much in Yorke's solo projects. But I like this song.
    I am a big fan of BRMC but this song isn't really what I like about them, and it's really too short to judge. Their last album was an instrumental and I didn't like it too much. And I like Bon Iver.

    I meant for the other songs, I liked them but I didn't feel them...so I'll wait to see or hear them in the movie...that sometimes helps me to apreciate songs that are chosen for movies. The preview is just too short for me to judge, and I didn't find those actual songs on youtube...

    I have to say my ears are very happy! My favorites so far- Band of Skulls, Grizzly Bear (so pretty:), Thom Yorke, Lykke Li, Bon Iver. I think the album is a grower. A couple of the songs that I thought were just meh- sounded so much better on the tenth listen- even the Editors. lol

    Make sure you all order from itunes- you get a few extra songs! I'm curious to hear Lupe Fiasco's track. Woot! :)

    i feel (DISCLAIMER: I'M BEGINNIG WITH 'I FEEL') as if 'satellite heart' is really the soul of the soundtrack. equinox may have been chosen as the single, but it's just not growing on me. i think it's the fact that "everything" is repeated 4700 times. but 'satellite heart' is from the girl's perspective and the lyrics are so relevant and artistic (READ: without being what i like to call "complete sentences" which i feel lack creativity. i always think of elf "i'm in a store and i'm siiiinging!!!!" <-- that's for you jenny)

    the rest of the soundtrack completes my life, and you know this from that paragraph i wrote a month ago, so no need to get back into it here. but, again....i'm a happy little bird. oh, and 'the meadow' gave me chills. no lie. i have the score to twilight, but i'm also looking forward to new moon's score having a bit of an upgrade....please no cheesy music.

    i will always blame it on incessant use of the electric guitar in that score. when i first heard it in the sneak peak of twilight, they were in the forest with the whole "i know what you are" dialogue and i couldn't believe my ears.

    i'm counting on AD to bring it home! sorry CB, at least you gave us the lullaby. : /

    Satelite Heart and Roslyn both stand out to me from the rest. Both are haunting and beautiful and have a raw feeling to me. The Meadow is also amazing. I think I could listen to that music all day.

    I really like the Muse, the Grizzly Bear, the Killers, the Death Cab. The Marina track seems perfect for this movie. And I have A THING for Thom Yorke's vocal chords, so hard to resist... but I am reserving judgement on the OST's full effect till after I see the movie. That's when my favorites really settle in, mentally/emotionally.

    I like it! There are probably two songs on there that I don't like. The Editors' song 'No Sound But The Wind' being the one I like the least. Perhaps it will grow on me once I see where it is in the film.

    I'm most looking forward to hearing the complete versions of The Killer's 'A White Demon Love Song' and Thom Yorke's 'Hearing Damage'. I'm already a big fan of Anya Marina and Death Cab's songs.

    Looks like a great soundtrack and very fitting for the movie.

    I think that when I consider all of the footage we've seen in sneek peeks and such these songs will suit CW's version of New Moon VERY WELL. I'm SO GLAD!!! I never, ever buy soudtracks (please don't pelt me with lemons or wooden stakes) but I didn't even buy the Twilight one. I simply downloaded a few of my faves from the movie.

    This one, however, I think I'm going to pre-order! The only thing I didn't seem to like at all was the Thom Yorke, but (no pelting please!) I don't like Thom Yorke, so that makes sense. I can't wait to see all of this put in with the movie. I love how a couple of the songs had a slightly hectic and demented feel to them. I think that suits Bella's frame of mind very, very well!

    BRAVO people, so far this one sounds like a winner to me!

    Ok so I dont comment hardly ever on here but I always read them....since I'm a complete addict and maybe I'm in denial or something...but anyways....I can't say that I absolutely love all the songs yet...it takes a while for me to listen to them and for them to sink in and grow on me, but you also never know where they are going to be placed either.....sometimes beginning credits sometimes ending credits sometimes only a tiny bit of the song is actually in the background of the movie....I do love the Twilight soundtrack but I can say that now after hearing it sooo much and now hearing and seeing it in the movie....so I'm sure I will like this soundtrack too...and yes YAY for no teen stars in the mix!!!!!

    Hmm, I don't really know what to think... at the moment I'm not feeling it as a whole, but I think I have to wait and hear them all in the movie before I judge them. For example, in Twilight I like the "Flightless Bird" song but when it comes on my iPod I always skip it, so who knows... I really liked Satellite Heart and I like Meet Me On The Equinox, love Death Cab... other than those though I wasn't feeling them! But I'll give them another chance when the movie comes out... Can't wait!

    The two songs I like so far are Meet Me on the Equinox and I Belong to You. I immediately loved I Belong to You the moment I heard it and Muse never fails for me. When I heard Meet Me on the Equinox the first time it was weird, but the more I listen to it the better it is. I think the same thing will happen with the other soundtrack songs, especially once I see the movie. I'm not too into Satellite Heart for some reason, but I think I'll grow into it eventually. I'm so excited to get the soundtrack though and we only have to wait another week!

    I fell in love with the meadow song! And to answer your question, at my local shop the twilight score came out about a month after the movie. Don't know when the New Moon score is coming out though, but I can't wait!!

    I think here in Honduras nobody plays NFL Football, but Soccer it's another story! yesterday's game was Honduras vrs US. The US won by 3 scores:). Wow it's a very very long trip! but Muse and Texas worth it!...Oh I hope you get to eat your fav mexican food! not to spicy though! cause of your reflux! So don't eat to spicy ok!:)

I don't want u to get sick later! Mexican food is one of the best foods around! My favorite Mex food is ''Chilaquiles'' yum LOVE them!...hey yesterday my sis made some pizza! I LOVE pizza 2! especially Dominos pizza:P

    My fav is enchiladas & steak & bean burritos oh & I luv gueso dip & guacamole!!!!!! Hale. Who am I kinding. I luv it all!!!!!! I have always wanted to try chili relenos, but I'm too chicken. I try not to eat chilies.
    My fav is a local pizza place called Chilly Willies hehehe silly name :) They make authentic New York pizzas. OMG it's amazing. Really thin crust & super cheesy :) UGH I'm getting HUNGRY!!!!
    I like Dominos 2. Have u had their American Legends pizzas? They r the best.

    Oh u should try Chilaquiles but not 2 spicy! Guacamole is great 2! all Mexican food tastes great:)! ''Chiles rellenos'' are great but spicy as hell! so don't eat to much of them! My mom cooks ''Chiles Rellenos'' but with ''Chile dulce'' or sweet pepper, I think u could eat those cause they're not spicy at all!...LOL Chilly Willies it's a funny name! were I live they sell a brand of ice cream called Chilly Willies haha!Oh and I will try the American Legend pizza from Dominos!

    Yeah I don't know what I would do w/out Mex food :) & having a husband who is half Mexican helps. I luv cooking it 4 him :) Well maybe I'll just have 1 chili Rellenos if it's that spicy hehehehe. My friend Rose makes the best guacamole :) It is super chunky & delish.

    Yeah the American Legends pizzas r the best. I get the Pacific Coast veggie on thin crust. OMG It's amazing. I also like the California chicken bacon ranch. WOW they r sooooo good :)

    Hahaha there we go with food again! she's making ''Arroz a la Marinera'' which is rice with shrimps and squid. It's really good:). Yum beef burritos sounds good 2 :P!... Yes I'am really REALLY excited that the theatres here decided to bring the movie earlier! yesterday I went to the theatre and I screamed like a HUGE fan girl when I watched the trailer haha! the people around me probably thought WTF(WHAT THE FACE) with that girl haha!

    I'm not loving it the way I did Twilight's soundtrack. I'm hoping that after I see the movie and hear where the songs come in that they will grow on me. However, I did enjoy Muse's song. Also, is it only me or does anyone else think that part of the beat from Meet Me At the Equinox sounds just a little like Mutemath's Spotlight.

    I know, I love the Meadow song to. I guess it's the piano, I loved "Bella's lullaby" at the twilight soundtrack and this is really good to, with a sad tone to it and all. And I do love Lykke Li and her "Possibility", I think she will rock our socks with the full song.

    yeah still not convinced....i love the twilight soundtrack, it was the right combination of music genres. Just don't know that those on the NM soundtrack are going to do it for me.

    Am hoping once I have a context behind the songs and can picture in my mind the scenes from the movie the music will have a bigger impact on me.

    i didnt like these at first but the more you listen to it the more i picked out where it could fit in the movie. like hearing damage while shes depressed, possibility when she starts falling in love with jacob, satellite heart while shes cliff diving, and new moon (the meadow) throughout the movie like bella's lullabye was in twilight.

    I'm a bit disappointed in the soundtrack. It feels like the popularity of the franchise was used to promote these artists. I could've gone for some good Chevelle, All American Rejects, American Hi-Fi or Hoobastank. Some Seether or Evanescence woulda been kick@$$ too!!! I mean, come on, Evanescence = Vampire movies!!! lol and the PERFECT SONG that should have been in this soundtrack is Jacob's song.... Fix You by Coldplay...HELLO!!! They lyrics were MADE for New Moon!!! Ok maybe not made since it came out years ago, but it's PERFECT for New Moon.

    yea i am glad i have not pre ordered yet, as of right now i am not liking the soundtrack too much....i do like 3 songs... i really like the meadow song i am a sucker for contemporary pieces like that...well ima go bcak to sleep lol
