New Moon screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg talks with MTV about making Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre)  the cause of Harry Clearwater’s (Graham Greene) death.

“In the book, Harry Clearwater’s death, heart attack is mentioned as something that’s off screen, although it plays a crucial role in the structure of the books,” said Melissa. “Reading that it was Harry Clearwater’s heart attack it just gave me the idea of, why don’t we see this? Stephenie [Meyer] doesn’t specify what caused the heart attack, so I decided, well, you know, if could be caused by something startling him. It could be caused by fear.”

As Melissa said, in the novel there is no explanation for Harry’s death, just how it worked as a plot point. By adding that it was a sighting of Victoria while he and Charlie were “hunting” for the wolf pack that set off the heart attack doesn’t violate Stephenie’s story, and instead adds a new dimension to that moment.

“It was a way to keep Victoria alive, it was a way to keep Charlie and the hunt alive, the danger to Charlie alive,” said Melissa, “and that’s where we get a really great action sequence with Victoria that all blends together with important parts of the movie and bring parts of the book forward. I particularly like that.”

I thought that scene was brilliant.  One of my favorites in New Moon.   Victoria, the wolves, Harry’s heart attack, Bella getting ready to jump and Thom Yorke’s Hearing Damage playing……..everything was just amazing.

New Moon SoundtrackAccording to Atlantic Records, The Twilight Saga; New Moon Original Motion Picture Soundtrack has received the Recording Industry Association of America platinum certification for sales exceeding 1 million units.   Twilight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack won the award for Favorite Soundtrack at the American Music Awards.

“THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON-ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK” rises this week on the Billboard 200, ranking #8 and selling more than 93,000 units in its sixth week on sale. The soundtrack, which debuted in October, has also received RIAA platinum certification for sales exceeding 1 million units. “THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON” soundtrack, which peaked at #1 in its first full week in stores and online, made history as the first time ever a soundtrack and its sequel have both reached the #1 spot on the chart. In addition, the soundtrack has remained in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 since its release.

The musical companion to the highly anticipated second installment of Summit Entertainment’s film franchise features exclusive tracks from some of modern music’s most gifted and admired artists, including Thom Yorke, Muse, The Killers, Anya Marina, and Death Cab for Cutie, who contributed the album’s first single, “Meet Me On the Equinox.” The track is currently #8 at Modern Rock radio.

In other news, “TWILIGHT-ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK” took home the award for Favorite Soundtrack at this year’s American Music Awards. “TWILIGHT” has currently sold more than 2.3 million copies in the U.S. alone and over 3.5 million copies worldwide. The soundtrack has remained on the Billboard 200 for 55 consecutive weeks.

Great news for both soundtracks!  I loved the Twilight soundtrack, but I think I love the New Moon soundtrack even more.   After watching New Moon, I was blown away by the music during the scenes.  Possibility……*sobs*  Hearing Damage….*chills*  What are your favorite songs from both soundtracks?
