People can say vampires don't sparkle even though they are fictional because there's over one hundred years of precedent to prove it. Just because one author decides that they want vampires to sparkle in the sun doesn't mean that's the gold standard. Vampires die in sunlight, it's a HUGE part of the mythos. If this is removed, they're not technically vampires in the legendary sense.

Also, as far as the whole Batman thing mentioned earlier, comic book fans are fickle. If all those changes were made, fans would either a.) Stop reading, b.) Raise hell with the company until the one who made the changes lost their job, or c.) raise hell with the company AND stop reading.

The lesson here is, if you change something iconic, you're going to alienate a LOT of people. So just because you like your vampires covered in glitter doesn't give you license to tell other people they can't think it's stupid.

i dont like the fact that people are all googly eyed over the characters like they would ever have a chance with them. i find the movie and books as good entertainment but when you take it to far….it jsut doesnt comprehend in my mind why exactly people are so fascinated by the characters while they dont even take one look at the plot of the book or movie, all they care about is robert pattinson and taylor lautner. i dont find the ever so sexy things about them. wait scratch that, i havent found one GOOD looking thing about them. its just sickening. besides thhe characters are way off, why robert pattinson? didnt he play cedric diggory in harry potter and the goblet of fire? and taylor lautner? hes like a kitten. way to soft hearted to play the part of a werewolf. and another thing, why did stephanie stop at only book four, doesnt she know she has to back up the books for people keep coming on as big fans of this and then she immediatly stops at book four. hmmph, but think what you like.

I hate it when people say “vampires don't sparkle”. Really?! When have you even met a vampire? That is the beauty of fiction. You can make up your characters to look/act/whatever however you feel because they aren't real. If Stephenie Meyers wanted her vampires to have rabbit ears, that would be her choice because they are her characters. Grant you, not everybody is going to like it, but that is their choice too. But there is no set of rules out there for what vampires or other characters are “supposed” to look like.

I'm also not a big fan of gore either. Just like you mentioned here, I like the lightness of Twilight. It's not that I get nauseous or anything from seeing gory things. I just don't care for it. I do like The Vampire Diaries too, but again, there isn't really too much blood in that series either to where it turns me off.

Please PLEASE fix the effects in Eclipse…..Please dont make them white and stupid looking….Sparkle can be done in a different way on the screen right, dont have to put silver powder on people's faces…

yeah, it's like batman – someone can take over the franchise and ignore everything that happened before to make him homosexual, coloured, a woman and obsessed with turtles, and it would be JUST as good as the originals. Its not like Batman is based on a real person. CHILL OUT!!!

i really dont like the concept that they sparkle but guess thats why the twilight vamps are differnt from other vamp stories….I WISH THE TWILIGHT VAMPS HAD FANGS!!!!

Exactly… that's what I'm saying… Ooooooh you have some garlic oh no! haha, I would probably take it and put it over some pasta, like seriously, whoever thinks “sparkling vampires” are stupid, should look at the other retarded cliche's we have with vampires. Sparkling is so cool, crusifix's and garlic, and going out into the sunlight and burning to death are just so 1990. lol. Retarded.
