Robert Pattinson was interviewed by the French television show 20 Heures today promoting New Moon in Paris.
I have no idea what they are saying, but my knees went weak when Robert says “Bonsoir“. *swoon*

UPDATE! One of our awesome readers, Laura, sent us the translation of Rob’s French interview on 20 Heures! Check out the translation after the break!! Thank you Laura!
Interviewer: Bonsoir Robert Pattinson (Evening Rob)
Rob: Bonsoir
I: Thank you for joining us, do you speak French?
R: Un petit peu [laughs] (a little bit)
I: Well thank you for accepting TF1’s invitation to come and talk about Twilight.
You’ve made quite a few films before Twilight which haven’t had the same success.
How do you explain Twilight being a big bang effect? Is it because of you, is it because of the vampires’ magic or because of Stephenie Meyer’s books?
R: I think it’s definitely one of those things where there’s a massive connection they were a huge success before the the films were made. I think the relationship represents something that’s sort of ideal people idolise the characters they want to see and they go a little crazy. But the movies, I don’t think there really are any movies that are almost directly solely aimed at women like the big blockbuster franchises are for all and so I think that’s why they’ve really embraced them.
I: Do you realise there’s a sensual almost sexual side to this story?
R: There is, it’s unusual though it’s very chaste it’s all about the thrill of the chase which in my opinion is the best the part of a relationship that’s a very soft aspect which attracts people’s attention.
I: Yes there’s a very puritan aspect as you said, you also made a Harry Potter movie is the difference between that and Twilight this aspect which we’ve just discussed?
R: Yeah there’s not much of a sexual undercurrent. It’s maybe even more chaste. But I think people like the characters like in Twilight, there are a lot of characters
and it’s very emotional. But in Harry Potter it’s more epic, fantasy there are a lot more characters in a whole different world, whereas in Twilight there’s few elements of fantasy as possible, it’s a different world.
I: Twilight is 4 films in total, 3 have already been made. Do you think you will be able to get rid of Edward the vampire’s character, how will your career bounce back?
R: Uhm maybe it won’t! (laughs) No I mean I think because the films are coming out fast it’s kind of like a supernova it just explodes so quickly. Uhm I don’t know maybe the
people won’t know what happened I mean I hope they’ll go onto different things and then it’s alrealdy done so hopefully that’ll work to my
advantage but you know I never felt afraid, I’ve never felt like I was attached to a certain typecast.
I: How do you cope with hundreds of female fans who are awaiting to meet you outside the studio, the hysteria. You were once attacked by some who wanted to get up close
how do you cope with that? Do you panic when you’re faced with it all?
R: I only panic in my real life, I mean all this just has to do with work it’s just part of my job, you make the film the next part is going on tour to different countries, fans start screaming at you and I accept that as part of my job but when it gets in my personal life when there’s no security (laughs) and there’s like a huge mob of girls standing oustide my door it’s a little scary but all of this is new it’s still fun. The irony is that when I was younger girls never wanted to go out with me and now all these girls start screaming, it’s funny.
I: Now onto your male role models, do you have anyone you look up to, James Dean, Leonardo Dicaprio?
R: I don’t know I have a few icons from years ago people I really look up to. But nowadays everything you do is scrutinized over the internet that it’s difficult to keep any msytery, it’s impossible to keep an emblematic image. But yeah there’s Marlon Brando.
I: James Dean?
R: Yeah definitely
I: You like music, cigarettes and beer, normal things it seems that the more you stick to normal things the more you move away from the image of the perfect husband and then the more girls like you. Are you going to continue to stay this way?
R: Uh (laughs) I don’t know, I think maybe I guess I seem like a novely but also because I play in these teen movies and I have like a desperate character. I’ve never wanted to look desperate but I don’t really have a choice and I think I’d be silly to go a different way. But we’ll see what happens.
I: Thank you Robert Pattinson and don’t change
R:(laughs)
I: New Moon comes out 18th of November in cinemas.
Yes Rob, don’t ever change!
