Ok not to be rude to any of you out there but i just want to say this... it is getting REALLY annoying how some of you are sitting there saying "oh there is no love triangle, Bella doesn't love Jacob like that, she only thinks of him as a friend" um hello? did you write the book? Do you know how they think and feel? NO you don't. so i would appreciate if you would stop talking as if you wrote the book. SM even wrote that she was "IN" love with him. She said nothing about loving him as a friend. Bella admitted in the book that she DID love him. She just loves Edward more. so dont go around getting angry at people who know she loved him and dont go trying to prove your point about her not loving him because your only embarassing yourself. Well I never saw Jacob as the villian... He is in love and even though I am a TEAM EDWARD fan til the end, i have to give credit to Jacob because he fights hard Bella's love.

We read the article to hear more about Taylor Launter not SM's books. He did not write the books therefore he cannot answer these questions objectively without giving his opinions. And of course his answers are always going to defend his character. People give Taylor a break. Don’t' get over heated by what he said. He went to that interview thinking it was going to be asking question about him. Not books he didn't write. And also some people are putting their dislike of Jacob on Taylor Launter. Remember they are not the same person.

I personal will not hold this against Taylor Launter. I think he is sweet and great to look at. ;)

I do like Jacobs charactor and Taylor too. Thats why I like to see him taking about the true nature of Jacobs charactor. As i said he has both good and bad side. Yes he is friendly but never friendly with Edward atleast to make Bella happy.

Tent seen in Eclipse he tried to annoy Edward and afterward made Balla to ask him to kiss her expecting a fight between Edward and bella over that. This is only one scene. There are so many scenes which i dont wanna bring up.

If you can forget team Edward and Team Jacob thing and read the books with open mind you will clearly see it especially. in Eclipse.

My point is Rob and Kristen Had the balls to talk about both sides of their charactors.

Jacob is not just a cute puppy.

I have to objectively say, despite being a Edward fan, that I think Bella fell in love with the patient, giving and always sunshine Jacob in New Moon. But she was so preoccupied with the absence of Edward to notice that, and after he turned into a werewolf she didn't like the Jacob with all that sarcasm and bitterness to realize her feelings, plus the return of Edward so she entire being was focused on Edward. The fact that she always recalled and missed the times when he was just being Jacob was more than just wanting her good friend back. But I think Bella and Jacob still wouldn't have worked out because the Jacob she fell in love with is no longer there.

I'm a little pissed that the actors don't seem to be reading the books and understanding their characters better. They seem to only be looking out for the characters' good points and missing their flaws. Ever since Bella lost Edward, I always thought Bella sort of 'lost' herself - she became afraid of losing other things and so she acted more selfish and immaturely. She was contemplating kissing Jacob in the kitchen not because she realized she loved him but because she couldn't stand being more alone than she already was, so I was quite irritated the movie didn't really portray that. Kristen had her eyes closed in that scene as if she did want to kiss him but in the book Bella was staring at him still undecided and then the phone rang.

And Taylor didn't come off completely changed from the before and after werewolf transformation, he seemed more focused on playing the sweet guy being hurt. Either it's because he doesn't want to up-play the immature selfish side of Jacob for fear that he can't gain more fans to oust Rob, or the stupid producers and scriptwriters want to use him and the supposed love triangle to earn more money. Plus the comment about Bella "about ready to kiss" Jacob, shows that he didn't read the book.

Rob on the other hand, seems to understand completely the troubled, pained, low self-esteem Edward and portrays him very well. Maybe its the lack of time in movies, but they fail to show the playful funny Edward and the fact that Edward and Bella's physical relationship is not that strained in the books. They still hug and kiss all the time, just that the kisses don't last too long for them to lose control. And I laughed at a scene in Twilight book when Edward purposefully kiss Bella at her throat when Billy was around to scare him. The movie Edward is too brooding and depressed it makes non-readers wonder what's so great about him.

And what the hell? Edward loves Bella for her smell? I hate it when people read books and take every word and sentence so literally, that's shallow. To the people that think that Edward and Bella's relationship is superficial because they think that it's Edward's looks Bella loves and her smell he loves, ARE YOU ILLITERATE?

Those are the first things they noticed about each other, just like all relationships begin with. The physical outer appearances are what catches their attention, which is why there is no such thing as love at first sight, only lust at first sight in my opinion, because you can't ever know a person's personality or character at first glance. But that's never enough to sustain a relationship for any period of time, much less its forever we're talking about for the both of them. It will be too long to make a list of the things they love each other for, but I can tell you for sure Taylor - Edward doesn't love Bella for her smell. He said it before in Breaking Dawn that her smell was the one thing he didn't miss after she became a vampire.

What do you guys expect people to ask from Taylor about Twilight saga... How he worked out, whether he got to do his own stunts bla bla bla

someone mentioned somewhere in this long list of comments about imprinting. i can't find it anymore but they said it had more to do with the genetic reproductive make-up of a person to ensure the strongest werewolf offspring and that it didn't have anything to do with love.

Those were Sam's THEORIES and Billy had other theories also which can be debated because Jake imprints on Renesmee and she's half vampire. lol.
The reason is kind of unknown. Jake explains it as a method of finding someone's soul mate. They imprint the moment they find the one they are destined to be with, their perfect match.
In my opinion, as much as Jacob loved Bella and Bella loved him, they weren't meant to be. Jacob even tries to test fate when he tried to imprint on her and he couldn't.....(bottom of page 173 of Eclipse when he's staring in concentration at her)

Stephenie Meyer said one of her inspirations was from Anne McCaffrey's dragon books. "The humans and dragons loved each other with an absolute and unreasoning love that never falters or changes. I was always captivated by this concept, and I wanted to explore that kind of life-changing and compulsory relationship."

So from Meyer's inspirations and how Jake explains things, ya i do think it has a lot to with love. lol.

That has got to be the most biased interview I have ever read. Where's the objectivity? Seriously, to attack the actor because they don't personally like the character he plays is totally unprofessional. I don't see Jacob as the villain at all. If he hadn't loved Bella as much as he did, he never would have gone to such lengths to save her, which led him to his imprint which ultimately stopped a war between the vampires and werewolves and united their families. Good for Taylor for holding his own. Seriously, they invite him to their magazine and then bully him? That's ridiculous.

ummm Taylor didn't write the screenplay. He speaks the dialog he is given. In the movie, Jacob actually does a few bad things that he didn't do in the book, like disrespect Edward by going after Bella while they were together. Also, in the book, Edward disguises his voice to sound like Charlie so when Jacob picks up the phone at Bella's place he does not realize its Edward nor does he ever think to torture Edward by pretending Bella is dead. I think it was just a case of sloppy screenwriting, tbh.

I agree with you. I think that Bella would not have been here if Edward had not saved her from the van in Twilight and I am upset that Charlie did not thank him for that. I am upset that Charlie was not mad at Jacob for fixing and letting Bella ride the dirt bikes. Jacob was more concerned in impressing Bella than her safety. Edward has waited for Bella for more than 80 years and was ready to leave her to give her a chance at a normal life. He was also willing to give his life when her life was over, because he could not live in a world without her. Taylor fans please don't hate. Ummmm Jacob wasn't a jerk in New Moon. He had jerk like moments in eclipse. But he was great in New Moon. maybe because u were so p*ssed that edward left and that Bella was forming a relationship with the new guy, u began to dislike him. The movie painted him just as he is in the book.

I agree with you, Jacob has always had a crush on Bella in the books and then to put Bella in danger many times over and over again, that showed that he cared more about pleasing her than her own safety. I didn't really like Jacob in all the books until Breaking Dawn when him and Edward became friends, even though he imprinted on Edwards and Bellas child. I thought that was really creepy. I was thinking that since he couldn't have Bella that he was after her child. I loved Resemme in Breaking Dawn and hope that can bring her to life in the movie. Omg Im so tired of Taylor. All hIs remarks about Bella and Edward relationship. Obviously she picks Edward over Jacob so there realtionship couldn't be so tense and seriouse. Aww Jakey was never the villain. The first time I read NM & Eclipse he WAS annoying. He was just so..ugh.. always in the way. LOL. But after reading them again I really liked him. I do agree with you to a certain extent. The two things that initially attracted and made Edward intrigued by Bella were the smell of her blood and not being able to read her mind.

I will be honest, and this is just my opinion, Jacob was annoying in the books. But watching Taylor's Jacob in the movie, he comes across much more as a viable love interest and as a good mate for Bella.

The movie paints him in a really good light and I think this interview and some of Taylor's answers are taken out of context and/or his way of dealing with the annoying interviewer. :)

See when I read NM, I fell in love with him. I saw nothing wrong with him....at all lol I think the movie followed the book very closely and painted Jake just as I saw him. My opinion on why people think he was shown in a good light: when reading the book, they were so mad that bell seemed to be forming a relationship with Jake and Edward wasn't in the picture, they got annoyed with hum. But actually SEEING how things pan out give that perception that they're playing up his character. But that's jus my opinion =)

I absolutely love the twilight series.. but regardless of whether you are team edward or team jacob you have to read the books objectively...

- First of all the questions of rolling stone should have been directed at stephenie meyer.. of course taylor is going to defend his character...

- Second of all taylor sort of spoke quite incorrectly on some parts when he answered especially when he said 'edward loves bella just for her smell'. I find it difficult to believe that such love would have been based on smell..seriously.. edward loves bella still when she turns into a vampire and smells just like him.

- Third of all the villain thing is stupid.. you cannot say jacob is a villain BUT let me put this into perspective in real-life..
try this.. forget vampires and werewolves (it's difficult i know)
imagine a girl and boy in love.. boyfriend and girlfriend..
then there's this other guy who tries to break them up by persistently going after the girl.. what would you think of this guy??? you wouldn't like it.. in real life you would think its almost a crime for someone to break up a beautiful couple right so just because Jacob is a werewolf he's sort of like that guy.. (soz team jacob fans)..

- Fourth, the books have always been about edward and bella no doubt.. remember stephenie had a dream about edward and bella and thought later jacob was a warm character that would try (and fail) at breaking them up.

- Fifth, we all know that edward and jacob are both in love with bella but edward's love for bella has always been stronger because for a vampire to have any change of emotion is a magnificent thing.. edward's love could never be faltered whereas jacob's love could because he imprinted on renesmee.

- Sixth.. bella has a lot to answer to not just jacob or edward...
poor edward has to endure jacob and sit quietly knowing that even though bella chose him she will always think about what her life would have been like (remember edward is not so upfront about his emotions)
jacob was rejected and he will always know he was second best, bella's all like "i wish i could do this and that" yet she takes it away from him

- Seventh, bella angers me the most in eclipse.. when she cries for jacob and stuff like that it's like she chose edward out of duty rather than the free will of want

- Both edward and jacob have both been scarred not just jacob.. just because bella chose edward, edward will always have that feeling of not being able to give bella everything which of course turns out well in breaking dawn.

- It was always a love story of star-crossed lovers.. because new moon has come out and jacob is the focus people have forgotten that it was always bella and edward

the actors have the tendency to discuss their characters in ways which are too personal.. they have not properly read the books to understand their characters fully because on the occasional interviews i have heard some stuff which is wrong (especially when stephenie meyer talks about it differently)
---for instance i remember some of them saying stuff about bella and edward's love being obsessive - i mean seriously jacob is constantly going after bella, forcing himself on her; (sarcastic) that's not obsessive is it now

We all love the saga but i think we shouldn't forget the root of the story and let personal teams take over the true meaning

Yeah, I'm really disliking the whole "Jake's trying to break Bella and Edward up" thing. It's entirely incorrect. He had a crush on her when she was WITH Edward, but never pushed anything. SHE went to HIM when Edward left.. and he was certainly within his rights to try and pursue her. Sure, he was a little pushy, but he was a good person and he loved her. She could have easily moved on with him (IMO).

As far as Eclipse.. sure, Jake pushed the envelope a bit, but it was not all his fault. Bella kept going back to him, too. Of course that would confusing for him in regards to her feelings.

That's the only reason why ppl don't like Jake...because he caused tension between B/E. They'll say it was because he was "manipulative" (forgiving Edward's manipulation) that he was immature (not realizing that Bella was the most immature out of the three) an arrogant jerk...well, yes he was ;) And thank goodness too! The books would be so boring without him! :D

WTF is up with this interviewer? I know that I am a million hours behind on the heated convo that is going on, Jacob a villian?

Even though I completely and wholeheartedly understand why Edward left and am on Team Edward for the most part, Jacob was the best friend that was there for Bella.

If anything Bella is the villian to ME. Let me explain before I get landblasted.

Bella can't figure out who she effing wants, she plays games with both, is dishonest to both, and is not fair to both. She strings Jacob along and makes him think that there is a chance for him when all along all she wants is Edward.

And don't get me started on Eclipse.

Poor Taylor. He should have punched this obvious Team Edward interviewer in the mouth.

Bella doesn't string Jacob along. She does allow Jacob to string himself along. She tells him at least a million times that she loves Edward more. And in fact she doesn't really admit to HERSELF or Jacob that she loves him at all until the end of Eclipse, just minutes after Jacob lies and tells her he is going to basically suicide by letting the Newborns tear him apart. And all she wants is not just Edward. That's the problem. She wants to marry Edward but she wants to keep Jacob in her life. Jacob unfortunately for him, is only too willing to stay in her life and even though he realizes that she loves Edward more, he is after more than Bella's love. He is deeply in love with Bella and knows that she is about to marry Edward and then become a Vampire herself. That is the reason Jacob is trying so hard to make Bella HIS. He loves her and cannto stand the thought that she is about to become a Vampire. He realizes that by offering her his love that he can offer her a more acceptable future. Love, kids, a life complete with her parents and in laws.... from his standpoint he is better for Bella than Edward. So no one is to blame. That's why its a love triangle. Because each person has an agenda for Bella including Bella herself. Except for maybe Edward because he doesn't want her to become a Vampire any more than Jacob does.

I'm glad that you as i don t see that bella was stringing jacob along. and you re right he strings himself along.

The thing with bella is that yes she does want to keep jacob in her life as a friend nothing more. there is nothing wrong with that. Just because she has edward in her life again does not mean she has to give up her friendship with jacob. however because jacob does not see bella as a friend but wants somehting more than friendship that is where the problem lies. you can t really be friends with someone who loves you as more than a friend. the other problem was that bella though, she was in denial did love jacob. this is why SM said that if bella had realized her true feelings for jacob she never would have persued her friendhip. you can t continue a friendship relationship when those feelings turn to love and you want a future with someone else. that is why bella said goodbye to jacob.

And bella knew that the time would come where she would have to say goodbye to jacob because she said it. After all she was making plans with edward at the beginning of eclipse to go to alaska or some other place because her plans were to become a vampire after graduation. the problem was that she was having a hard time doing it and then she realized that it was because she loved him. but the moment she came to see the truth she knew right then and there that she was going to say goodbye. bella never hesitated for one second and she did it. Why continue any relationship with him when nothing will come of it.

This is why i say that bella made mistakes because of her inexperience coupled with the fact that she loved jacob and did not realize it. and becasue she was trying to do the right thing everything got so out of control. had bella known the outcome of all of this she would have done things differently. but that is not somehting that she would have known. experience soemtimes comes from making mistakes. :)

really. that is not what SM says about bella. and since these are her characters she knows exactly where bella was coming from.

Bad villian bella should be shot for all the pain and suffering she caused them.

Instead of judging her try to put yourself in her shoes How many of us would not have done the same thing if we were in her shoes being 18 and inexperienced.

I understand where you are coming .of course everyone will perceive things differently. we all think different. but SM is the author. She is not someone who read the books and bases her response on what she perceives something to be. I don’t quote from SM to convince anyone you either accept it or you continue believing your interpretation. nothing wrong with that. however they are SM characters. she created them in her head. while we all have different interpretations there is only one correct one and that is SM because she knows her characters and what is going on in their heads better than you (no offense) I and anyone else. this is the reason why she wrote Midnight Sun because she said that her characters were so misunderstood. Edward in this case. I Can understand though how people perceive Bella so different than the way SM does or the other characters. But I look at the whole picture I don t base my opinion of them just by their actions alone simple because some actions come across the wrong way. Like bella some of her actions come across as her being selfish but when I look at the whole picture like SM i see that she not selfish but a selfless person who makes mistakes because she tries to do the right thing. I look below the surface and the reasons behind those actions. That is of course my opinion.

Stephenie Meyer mentioned that when she first met Rob in person, in LA, that she was waiting for him at a café and that when she saw Rob coming, in a city of beautiful people, that she was dumbstruck. She said that people were stopping and staring at Rob because he was so striking. I sincerely doubt Rob has self esteem issues. I think he is supremely secure.

Taylor, on the other hand, is very short. This may not be a problem for you, but Taylor Lautner almost lost the role of Jacob because of it. And he knows I am sure that he will lose other roles because of his height especially when he is paired with a 5 11 actress. I doubt it affects his self confidence, because he seems very confident to be sure, but I also notice that he never mentions his height.

I tried to be one!...but idk..I just LOVE Edward more....Ohh heres why:

IF Bella tells Edward to stay out of a fight for her that all of his family is involved, he simply does, Jacob never will he wants to kill some vampires...
If Bella is more comfortable having her friendship with Jacob, Edward finally admits it and treat Jacob the best he can, Jake can´t simply do it even for BElla...
If BElla tells Edward that she loves jacob and goes with him, he will step aside and want the best for her...
If Bella tells Jake that she´s going into vampire for Edward, Jacob tells her that he`d rather see her dead...
The main reason is IN BD, Jacob never imprinted on bella and that´s why he never made all the things for BElla even though he promised as he did for Renesmee....interacting with vampires at all times, seeing what Nessie wants and nothing else....and no team...simply Jacob´s fate was with Bella and Edward´s fate and that´s why he saved her and all as he explained BElla when she as a newborn realises the situation...
So...the major conection between BElla and Edward was already made, Edward compared the imprimacy impulse as "almost" as strong as his feelings for her...Jake just needed his...

cuz i have a couple of old guys in my house, & i would seem pretty oughta wack.

I'm Team Switz.. I don't see Jacob as a villain and I don't see Edward as annoying..
Both the guys have a legitimate reason for trying to get Bella's attention (so to speak): they both love her.
They show it in different ways because they're completely different guys!
Jacob was (before transformation) a sweet, bubbly kid that loved doing reckless things and just... living! After the transformation Jacob became bitter because he was made to do something that he never chose to do! This got him to be (sometimes) aggressive and sometimes annoying..
Edward is a tortured sole.. He spent 80 years having nothing to live for and when he finally finds his reason he sees it slips through his fingers for a mistake he made. He wants to hold on to that reason and that is the reason he is so overprotective in Eclipse (ok, I know I'm walking ahead of books now.. LOL).
So people, don't see Jacob as a villain or Edward as an ass.. They both love Bella and because they're such different people with such different life experience they behave differently to.. how should I say it?... earn her love..

For Bella he already had her heart, soul, everything.. But maybe in Eclipse after he came back and he saw the friendship (and love) between Bella and Jacob, he had the feeling that because of the mistake he made in New Moon that he had to earn her love and heart and soul again.. He always had the feeling that he didn't deserve the happiness that Bella was for him.. ;)

Ok I understand. He thinks he has to earn Bella’s love, which he already has as far as Bella is concerned. The thing is that according to SM at the end of new Moon edward realized the intensity of bella's love for him. He knew that he did not lose bella's love because he left her. If anything he realized finally just how much she loved him. So I can t understand why he would feel like he had to earn her love when he knew she never stopped loving him. What I do remember him saying is how he would earn her trust again. He wanted to reassure bella that he would never leave her again. As far as earning her love because of the bella jacob friendship and love. Edward was not aware of bella's true feelings for jacob. In the tent scene when jacob mentioned it edward said that he was not sure he could not tell if bella loved jacob or not. maybe at some point he suspected that her feelings were more than friendhip but I don t think he was actually aware of them. :)

There's one thing about Edward in Eclipse: he is jealous of the relationship that Bella has with Jacob.. And you can notice that.
Especially when he asks why Jacob can give her presents and he can't (that is an Eclipse quote and MR just put it NMM ¬¬).
So at the end of NM when Edward said what you said in your comment (about the trust thing) he didn't know how strong the 'friendship' between Bella and Jacob was.. And maybe the jealousy that he felt made him start to think about things.
Why do you think that he says to Jacob that he is going to fight for he too..? He really feels like he has to fight for her.. ;)

oh yes he is jealous no doubt.I like that side of Edward. Isn't that a normal reaction. i would question it if he were not. But as far as having to fight for her he is being silly bella only wants him she has made that clear from the beginning of eclipse to the end and even before that. But yes that is Edward for you. I think that what he meant was not that he was going to fight for her because hee did say to jacob "she is mine", so why fight for something that belongs to you already. I think he meant he was going to fight to keep her by his side and not let Jacob take her away from him. As far as earning her trust the conversation was about him leaving her again. That is why he said he would have to earn her trust. this happened at the end of NM.:)

that's so great about books: you can interpret characters your own way.. So to me he had to earn her love (I felt it like that ;) ) and to you he already had it (and apparently knew it ;P)..

I´m Team Edward but I don´t see Jacob as a villain.

I hate all this triangle talk. This is Bella/Edward story with a side of Jacob. I love Taylor, but all this talk about how Bella was conflicted is so not the way the books read. She was never ever conflicted on being with Edward. She chose him, but it was how she was going to keep Jacob around without hurting him because she loved him as a brother and knew they could be happy but that was only in a world where Edward didn't exist. This isn't a who will she choose story. It was always Edward and I guess we have to wait until Breaking Dawn for all the actors to finally admit, yeah, it was all about Edward so they can promote that movie since there is no J/B story in that one to be had. The movies just need to show all sides of Jake's personality and not just his sweet side to really show the whole effect.

BRAVO grasshopper!!! I am so sick of this overly-promoted love triangle BS! Goodness, it's all about E & B's love persevering through each and every obstacle they come up against. That includes a threat from the heroin's best friend, who doesn't have respect for her relationship. I would argue that B struggles with having a lot of respect for her relationship w/E As well (that's a whole nother' posting). This story has nothing do with Bella and Jake's romantic relationship or a lack-there-of, but EVERYTHING to do with what a girl is willing to give up or turn away from in her "normal" life in order to be with the one she loves who is beyond her normal world. By any means necessary, she strides to be with the love of her life -- a journey to sacrifice her mortality to be with him, sacrificing her human relationships in the process.......

Haha you're probably sick of my posts everywhere with a link to SMeyer's website saying yes Bella was in love with Jacob, not that she loved him. The interpretation gets so scrambled.

Bella's love for Jacob is only a testament of how great her choose of Edward was. If Edward was just some slightly strange romantic vampire and he broke shattered her heart - she probably would've chosen Jacob.

But even after all of that and a perfect choice for her, pleading for her to love him instead and realizing she's in love with him -- she still chose Edward because their relationship was far above the typical, Jacob couldn't fight with an Eclipse even if he was her sun.

Well, I read all of the jake parts and didn't skip any in the books so I remember everything. And yes, in my opinion, Jake's rude aspect of his personality was left out in New Moon. For 2 examples, he didn't tell Bella, I hope you don't die and they didn't show how he told Charlie about the bikes just to get Bella in trouble. And I thought Taylor did a great job, but that's not what I"m talking about. I'm talking about the true character of Jacob and in my opinion he was not shown to have his immature side. He even came back to Bella's hosue to check on her in the movie when Alice got there, but in the book he didn't. So unless they want to make up soemthing that is not there, Bella has made her choice and it will only show Jacob constantly pressuring her for what she can't give. Eclipse isn't about a choice; it's about dealing with her feelings for Jacob that aren't as strong as her feelings for Edward and how not to hurt him. I just want the balance of Jake's personality to be shown, which was not in New Moon.

True, they left a lot out. They also left out so much of the "nice" Jacob. In the book it's over half of the story, where she is always talking and hanging out with him.

They did change something in the movie to make Jacob seem more "not-nice". When Edward calls in the book Jacob picks up and truly thinks it's Carlisle calling for Charlie. In the movie Jacob KNOWS that it is Edward and therefore won't hand the phone over to Bella.

I wish they'd just leave things alone! lol

I think the change in the scene with Jake coming back to the house that night to check on her rather than just the phone call was done to condense the story to fit into the time slot. They combined that scene with the funeral scene when he comes over. They combined and condensed a lot of stuff to fit the movie. I don't think it was changed to deliberately make Jake look better. But I didn't write the script, that's just my opinion. Yes, they took out the motorcycles, but they changed the movie scene to have him yell at Mike which made him look like a jerk and that wasn't in the books. It probably all evens out.

You are right they changed some things...When he sensed a vampire Bella said that is Charlisle but Jacob couldn't know that for sure, instead in the book he said to her "I hope you don't die"...he just left her there, just because he was mad and he did't come back the same night as the showed in the movie. He came back the next day. Also shame there wasn't that part with bikes...but what can be do when Melissa is writing the scipt.

He didn't come back that night, but he did call a few minutes later to make sure that Bella was ok. Jacob was never the bad guy. He just had the bad luck to fall in love with a girl whose destiny was elsewhere. Bella didn't do Jake any favors either. She encouraged him when she shouldn't have. She kept him in her life, knowing that it would hurt him, but she was being selfish. That's why I love the books, it's not all cut and dried, its beyond painful and amazing.

If it wasn't Alice the moment she stepped in to the house could've been the last thing she does. He called her to see if she was ok, but in my opinion it's a very late reaction. I thought it was a strage decision, and I always thought that Stephenie maybe didn't judge his reaction well...it was out of character for him. I noticed similar situations with other characters when they do somethig out of the blue....I guess that's human nature maybe, no one is perfect and calculated...humans aren't constant, they make decision in spare of the moment that aren't the best ones.
I never thought he was a bad guy, he annoyed me, that is true, but I felt sorry for him also. Bella was selfish but to be honest I would probably try to keep a friend like Jacob in my life too. I guess when you're living the situation you can't see the faults, it is different when someone from outside can see everything and judge.

Yes, she did. And besides that she had to think about so many things in Eclpse. If I knew that some crazy vampire is changing humans just to get to me...i would go mad. She was feeling guilty and she was worrying.
Yes, I remember for example when Bella explained how she left her home so her mother can travel with her husband. I mean how many teenage girls would do that for their mothers...not that many. It impressed Edward because it's unselfish.
That's a tough situation you're in. It was easier for Bella because she was sure, copmpletely sure that she loves Edward more. There wasn't even a choice...She was lucky in that way.

I do blame Stephenie to be honest...there are a lot of holes in all 4 books. Some srtange reactions from all of them...

Regardless of "our" interpretation - there's only one who knows for certain if Bella was "IN" love with Jacob - and that would be Stephenie Meyer.

The greatest testament is that she did above all else chose Edward BUT that doesn't undermind the reality of love she has for Jacob.

Oh, I know that Bella said she was in love with Jake and that's where a lot of us fans of E/B kind of wanted to kick Bella a time or two, because I really thougth Stephanie Meyer should have used a different phrase. If Bella was "in love" with Jake, then that should have been enough for any woman to say, okay, I'm going to be with this guy forever. So in my mind, interpreting a vampire love story, there was something more than "in love" going on with E/B. They were far beyond just in love, they were in fate, in destiny, in the stars and that kind of love couldn't be competed with. So I do agree with Bella fell for Jake but it was so unlucky for Jake because her whole being was drawn to Edward in a way that no human interaction could come between. Although I do feel Jake pushed Bella a lot, I didn think he was endearing in ways for his persistence of her.

And thanks for the link to what Stephanie said, she said it kind of how I"m trying to say it, just maybe not as inartfully, that she loved Jacob and it was an easy, fun, and safe love for her, and one she could have been happy with, but she still chose Edward and that's how she knew is was real. So to make a long story short, I'm not saying she didn't love Jake, he was there for her, but her heart had already been completly saturated with her unyielding love for Edward. And in my mind from reading the books, I felt by the end of the novels we were all supposed to see that they were destined to be together for life and all was as it should be.

Yay we agree! By the end Bella knows that no doubt Edward is it for her, he's far above any love she's ever had.

That's why I get upset when fans say she was never in love with Jacob. Because it shows that even in realizing that, she still didn't have hesitation on who she knows she needs to be with. She knows that her love for Edward is much more powerful, an Eclipse, destined - as you said.

It only helps showing how much Edward and Bella belong together. Because if Edward was just some romantic guy who broke her heart - she would've chosen Jacob.

Jake did come back to check on Bella...perhaps a little refresher course on NM from Jake's perspective and what he was going through can help you out.

Regardless if she already chose Edward, Eclipse is about her discovering that she is indeed in love with Jacob...we all have our own viewpoints on the story. One is not more right than the other.

It is strange though that so many people go right along with Bella's emotions in the books. I found when reading that I wouldn't have always made the same choices as her and there are certainly times where her train of thought was waaaay off base from mine. That made me doubt a lot of what she thought or felt especially in regards to her feelings for Edward. Many times I thought her reactions were just as immature as you're claiming Jake's to be. I think Jake's darker side is shown in Eclipse so we'll have to wait and see, but truth be told all the main character's darker sides are shown in the 3rd book...even precious Edward's.

I agree. I think that's why a lot of fans have a hard time seeing how Bella loves Jacob, because in New Moon they were longing themselves to see Edward again.

It's so funny, because at some points I'm like "Bella what the heck are doing??" She was so irrational at many points.

It's so easy to slip into Bella's place when reading.
But the point is that Bella made the decisions she did, she did fall in love with Jacob also, even if "we" didn't ourselves.

Yeah i agree. It has always been Bella and Edward. From reading the books I did not like Jacob at all. He was so annoying and he needed to leave Bella and Edwards alone. Everyone keeps talking about the sweet side of Jake. I didn't see that too much in the books.

Honestly I don t see what is the big deal about bella falling in love with Jacob. So what if she did. In Bella's words: IT DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Falling in love with jacob did not change one iota of anything. In BD Bella tells jacob that they are suppose to be in each other's lives in a family way not romantic. When they fell in love their friendship relationshp got off track and out of balance. In other words she knows that it was a mistake. When jacob imprint on renesmme he tells bella he will love her the RIGHT way. So he comes to realize that loving bella in a romantic was a mistake also. What is so special about their love when they come to realize that it was a mistake all along. Bella's and Edward's love is special. Their love is something that cannot be defined.:)

As stated in someone else's comments above - Imprinting is not the result of being in love with someone. Sam was in love with Leah, not Emily. Jared had never noticed Kim before. Jake & Quil were not "in love" with babies. Imprinting is a genetic and involuntary. AFTER they imprint, they fall in love, but it is not the love that causes it.

Jacob's not imprinting on Bella had nothing to do with "not loving her" enough. Imprinting had more to do with the genetic reproductive make-up of a person to ensure the strongest werewolf offspring. Sam was totally in love with Leah before imprinting on Emily. Did you only pay attention to the Edward/Bella parts of the books? LOL

Imprinting has nothing to do with how much you love someone and IF Bella had chosen Jake...and believe me most Jake fans are happy that she didn't...he wouldn't have imprinted on anyone else, because Renesmee was his imprintee.

Even Edward knew that Jacob would leave her when he imprinted on someone. We just didn't know it was goign to be Edward's child at the time. I don't think they can play the triangle up too much in Eclipse, because at the end of the movie it's got to be clear cut and have those people who haven't read the book know that in the next movie it's all about her and Edward's life together, period.

I'm so sick of people talking about this love triangle that doesn't really exist.

Don't get me wrong team Jacob, I think he's a good friend for Bella, a good kid and everything, but I really don't like some of his atitude, he knows since the beginning that Bella loves Edward and always will love him, but he doesn't want to accept that, so he keeps pushing her trying really hard to confuse her to make her believe that she loves him when she actually don't, she never loved him as a man, she loves him as a friend.
By the way, those parts in the books were really annoying to read.

You should read Stephenie Meyer's website where she explains things in depth. Hate to disappoint you, but yes in fact, Bella was IN LOVE with Jacob. As a man not a friend.

I'm total Team Edward. But Bella does love Jacob too. She tells him in the book that she can actually see her future with Jacob. She can see her married to him and with kids... growing old together. She says that she "wants it so bad it hurts" or something to that effect. But the problem is that she loves Edward MORE. There simply isn't a competition. She never once considers leaving Edward for Jacob. But she does love Jacob, and not like a brother. She loves him like a woman loves a man. She says in a world without magic she would be married to him. But then again a world without magic is a dreary place. Edward and Bella forever!

But let's not forget how great Jacob is.

I think it all depends on how you read it. She does say she wants a claim on him, that she doesn't want anyone to be with him. She also admitted to herself that she loved him after they kissed in Eclipse, and admits that she always loved him, she just couldn't see it. It wasn't that she didn't love him that way, it was that she loved Edward so much more. At least, that's how I read it.

Actually Krys is correct. Bella didn't just love Jacob, apart of her was "IN" love with Jacob. A smaller part than Edward yes, but still real. I literally just got done reading Eclipse last night (for the 3rd time).

Bella admits to being "in" love with Jacob also. Seeing a real future with him with 2 dark haired children. She admitted to Jacob that the worse part was that she wanted real bad.

The whole point is that she was in love with 2 great choices and choose Edward because it was such an unstoppable love - that she need him......This doesn't discount that her love for Jacob wasn't as real and great.

No matter what "team" we're on, the words on the pages of the books are evidence. Jacob wasn't just a "stand in."

I tried to tell ppl that we all have opinions, but some things are fact, and SMeyer portrays the facts in a way that explains everything.

I respect your interpretation of the book despite that's different than mine.
When you keep saying something to somebody constantly, trying to make this person believe in what you are saying, after some point there's a very good possibility that this person will start to think that what you are saying is true and that he/she was wrong before (when actually that's not true, he/she was right since the beginning). In my opinion that's what happenned to Bella in Eclipse, she always knew that Edward was the one, her real and only love, but Jacob kept pushing her and doing his best to confuse her to make her believe that she actually loved him because he couldn't accept the fact that she didn't, and at some point of the book she starts to believe in him and think she loves him as a man and not just a friend, but thank God she realises later that she was just confused and that Edward is really her true love.

I will say that Bella realizes she fell in love with Jake, but know that they weren't suppose to be together that way....this she explains in Breaking Dawn when Jake comes to the Cullen mansion to see her after hearing she returned from her honeymoon and was sick. I can post the quotes word for word when I get home, as I am at work and traveling w/Eclipse at the moment.

But Eclipse, pg. 528 reads:

"I'd been lying to myself. Jacob was right. He'd been right all along. He was more than just my friend. That's why it was so impossible to tell him goodbye--because I was in love with him. Too. I loved him, much more than I should, and yet, still nowhere near enough. I was in love with him , but it was not enough to change anything; it was only enough to hurt us both more. To hurt him worse than I ever had....For one brief , never-ending second, an entirely different path expanded behind the lids of my tear-wet eyes. Now, I will come back and edit this post later, with her declaration in BD about her not being meant for Jacob. That yes, he was to be a part of her life, but not in a romantic way.

Really I feel Bella is the problem in this whole series... she's a conflicted young lady. i guess it's all about being 18, but at the same time she no one seems to respect boundaries in this sereis...there are only a remote few who do and bc of that lack of respect for boundaries....all these ppl get hurt at some point and time throughout the series.

No, it's not. :) If you read between the lines, there are little instances that point you in the direction of her feelings for him. Being uncomfortable touching his bare chest, getting embarrassed when Jake asks if his being half-naked bothers her, and of course the most obvious.. defying Edward in some ways to go SEE him.

I think his answer was just miscommunicated. That's the draw for Edward in Twilight.. and Jake *does* just like her for her. He remembered her from when they were kids. He flirted with her on the beach, he liked how she looked and apparently liked her personality. Of course, it took Edward a little longer but he liked her for the same things, too.

Plus, the interviewer sucked... he could have been getting irritated with the idiotic questions and came off differently.

Jacob had a crush on Bella before NM, but he liked just her looks, he didn't know her.
They made mud pies when they were kids, but that's it. He couldn't know her peronality and soul from that.

The movie said they made mud pies when little. Bella Didn't actually remember Jake at all when she 1st met him in Twilight the Book.

Jacob knew her personality and "soul" if you will, just as long as Edward did...maybe a tad longer. And you're wrong in regards to what he liked about her. SM said that Jacob also thought they were "on the same page with one another. Kindred spirits" when they instantly met up again. Before Ed was in the picture.

And we're reading the books based on Bella's biased opinion. Bella thought Edward was beautiful...everything about him, how he looked, how he spoke, how he smelled...on and on and on. Personally as I was reading the books I thought Edward could do no wrong in Bella's eyes because she was in awe of his beauty...and he liked her too, OMG! How exciting is that for a girl? I'm sure it would be but to me it screams infatuation not necessarily true love.

It is true love, something strong and powerful.

I guess that's the thing that separates me most from Edward fans. I do NOT believe for one instant that a character such as Bella could experience a love greater than anyone elses. I don't. She's human. How is she capable of loving someone more than you or I? She isn't. Add to the fact she's 18! An 18 year old who has never had a boyfriend. At this point you have to take a step back when you think about all these pieces.

So you're telling me that someone who finds fault within herself continuously, whether it be her looks, grace, whatever, wouldn't love to become a beautiful being and live together forever with their gorgeous boyfriend? What he said sounds just like a Jacob thing to say, always belittling the love between Edward and Bella, even in Eclipse during the tent scene conversation he explains to Jacob how much Bella means and how he would give her up if that's what she wanted and how he would never hurt Jake because that would hurt Bella too much and Jacob makes his usual snide remark. All I know is during the tent scene I was screaming at Jake at how a jackasre he was to Edward while Edward had to sit in the corner. Jake was so immature and he didn't take Bella's feelings for Edward ever in consideration. He only cared about forcing Bella to admit she had some sort of feelings for him by lying, manipulating and forcing himself on her in Eclipse. All I have to say is they better show that side of Jake in Eclipse.

I was like where did all these feelings of feeling sorry for him come from??? I Am team E, but I swear the movie could have made me straddle the fence if I wasn't so committed. I had to ask, where is the A-hole Jake that left Bella in the the house?...Oh but instead he shows up professing that he didn't care that he was breaking the rules PUULHHHLEEEZZZ! that Sh*t was not what happened in the book in the book, he says " I hope you don't die" then gets the hale out of dodge, then he calls her when he gets home to see if she's still living and hangs the eff up on her when she proceeds to ask him a question. Lets not water down strong character traits Summit and Co. ! Come' on now, portray the characters exactly how they are in the book.....Edward being over protective, pessimistic, and at times insecure (w/cause) romantic and protector, and Jake being an obnoxious A-hole or manipulator (what ever u want to call it), who is sometimes plays nice, who is loyal to his BF, and hopelessly in love with the one girl he CANT have. Oh and lets not forget Bella, a selfish, crybaby, who has a hard time being assertive for fear of hurting those closest to her, who is hopelessly in love with her Vampire, has a hard time respecting the boundaries of their relationship due to her lack of self-knowledge.....

I find it hard to believe that Bella and Edward's love for each other is greater than anyone elses love...ever. Bella is a selfish person at times, and Edward is a little messed up too, I don't and can't put their characters up on a pedestal like that. Bella is telling us it's greater than anything but she's what, 18? Her opinion doesn't come from a lot of experience...just saying :)

She knows how it was when Edward left her, she was catatonic for 4 months and it took her couple of months after that to put herself together (more or less) She always felt pain during that period even when she was with Jacob...that's how she knows that her love for Edward is greater than anything. She was brave enought to go to Italy and risk her life for him, that is a big thing.
She knows she can't live without him. She cried one night for Jacob in Eclipse and that's it...she could handle it.
It's all a bit melodramatic but that's how it's written...It's also hard to believe that a 16 year old kid could be that much in love with someone, it can be viewed like ordinaly love story...it's more epic and fantastical.

Me too! I have a feeling it's going to be a great movie! I hope it does well in the box office. I saw Anna Kendrick's Up in the Air trailer and that looks pretty good as well.

Anna is a great actress, she was one of the few (besides Charlie and Mike) that I didn't feel was trying too hard to act in NM. I'm not knocking the movie, loved it, but with more experience, the new actors will get the hang of 'stop shaking your head before everything you say', and 'quit tightening your lips and furrowing your brows so much' - and for gooness sakes, 'don't just deliver your lines, actually believe in what you're saying'.

Emilie is a very good actress, I already love her from the trailer. And Rob, well, I love the characters Tyler and Aidan, so I'm glad to see him get the role of Tyler. He's got a good cast around him. And with the driector of the Soprano's...hellooooo...awesome!!

I agree with everything you said. I love Ashley, but I felt like in NM she was overacting as Alice. It didn't feel natural. The wolf boys were okay, I'm pretty confident they'll be more comfortable in Eclipse. Chaske was great though.

This interview isn't nearly as bad as the one in the magazine. While reading it, I got the feeling that they were trying to make Taylor look like a bad guy. Some of the things that were said made me think they wanted to hurt his reputation, so it really doesn't suprise me that they called Jake a villian. I don't think they like Taylor or his character. I feel so bad for Taylor. That must have been one ackward interview. I think he handled it very well after reading his responses. He is much more mature than the interviewer!

I agree. He was agree to find humor to try and lighten this interviewer up. Sheesh! That didn't seem like a fun interview to do.
