‘Twilight’ Dad Billy Burke Hopes His Daughter Is Just Like Bella Swan

kristen_stewartChief Swan is here to lay down the law when it comes to his daughter, no not Bella, we mean his real life daughter 15 month old princess Bluesy LaRue.

“Bella’s got an old soul, and I think that I’m already recognizing things that might be looking like an old soul in my kid right now — and I would like that,” he grinned. “I would like her to be a worldly person. I would like her to help me along the way, because parenthood is something that I never even expected to be involved in, and I’m going to need all the help that I can get.”

And, if little Bluesy happens to bring home a pale, sparkly hunk someday to meet Dad, Billy said he’d be willing to keep his mind open — he just doesn’t want to consider the scenario right now.

“I try not to think about it,” he said of possible Edward Cullen-esque suitors. “My parents are saying stuff about it all the time: ‘Oh, just wait a couple of years.’

“Let’s just slow down,” he grinned. “She’s 15 months old. Let’s just put the brakes on. I just want to watch her grow up and hopefully shepherd her into normal kid-hood.”

Billy better watch out, you know as the saying goes…life imitates art! At least he will be better prepared if Bluesy LaRue brings home some little Cullen cousins(she’d be so lucky.)  The Twilight Saga: New Moon hits theaters nationwide Friday November 20th.

    you have to go back and realize that the only man that never turned his back on Bella, was Charlie, he was there cradling her just like the day she was born when Edward left her out there alone, than he wrapped her up when she was soaking wet when Jacob cruelly told her, they couldn't be friends anymore because Samuel forbidden it. So to me I'm Team Charlie, because there is no better friend for a girl than her dad. Although he becomes a pain in Eclipse.

    I didn't say anything against Charlie? I love him! I just said that I liked how he related to Charlie's lack of parenthood experience. It's true, he's only had Bella for about a year... every other time it's been for a week or 2 here and there.

    Just because I'm saying he lacks the experience, doesn't mean I don't think he's a good Dad. He loves her and is always doing the best he can which in my book.. makes a great dad!

    Well I've always loved Bella's character, despite the fact that she has somethings that annoy me to no end, like her constant whining about silly stuff (like not wanting to celebrate her birthday, for example). Or sometimes she seems too superficial, while at other times she has a lot of depth. However overall, while Bella's character is flawed, she is a very likable person who anyone can relate too in one way or the other. She is loving, selfless and caring. She is good to her parents, she is not rebellious but rather very mature for her age. She doesn't drink or smoke or party all night long. She is very grounded. And is just a decent character who doesn't sleep around.

    She is strong in the ways that matter, by her compassion and courage.

    I mean compared to all the other characters in tv series and books, Bella is a GREAT character despite some of her issues (but who doesn't have some issues? that's part of what makes her more real). She isn't perfect, but she has some great qualities. And I think it is great for the young girls who love Twilight to look at her good qualities, while learning from her bad ones.

    And I like Billy A.K.A Charlie, I think it's too cute that he relates a bit to Charlie and has his little Bella now, lol.

  • I love Bella. She is smart, caring, witty, etc. But there is something odd about her. To me she is not the center of the story, but Edward. He is what makes Twilight what it is...(sorry wolf girls :) )

    Bella has some annoying qualities but at the same time she is very selfless in her quest to protect those she loves, ofcoarse she does not stop and think what giving up her life would mean for those around her, that it will still cause them pain. And we all have done things that we are not proud off, the right thing for her to had done on the Jacob incident was leave him alone, but since this is a supernatural tale, she just couldn't,
  • Agree! She is selfish on one hand, but most of the time she is NOT selfish. And yes, she could have left him alone, but he was what she needed at the time. :)

    It's cute that he wants her daughter to be just like Bella. But I wouldn't want my daughter to be like Bella because she depends on Edward. She didn't know what to do with herself when he left her. She needs to know that life goes on even when the love of your life left you.

    But don't get my wrong, I still love Bella. She's one of my favourite characters from a book.

    Aside from completely depending on another 'being' (haha can't say human) for her happiness, I think Bella would be a good role model. I do think she is whiny, and I didn't like how she spent half the book (although I guess that was really SM) describing how beautiful Edward was, but I like her courage in reguards to how she feels and I like that she didn't let the fact that a vampire AND wolf were in love with her get to her head.
