have seen it three times...this movie hits people at a deep level...can't wait for the next two (or three!) movies.

I absolutely LOVED New Moon! I'm definitely not the "typical" Twilight Fan...lol, I'm a 43 yr old mom of two boys, 16 and 21 and have caught total hell about anything Twilight! Now don't get me wrong, ;) LOVED the COUGAR comment from the movie and really LOL during all three times I've seen it so far!

I actually did "drag" my oldest, when he, his girlfriend and my youngest and I went to see it Thanksgiving night...I think he "liked" it, but I'm sure he'll never admit to it! (actually think he's jealous of Rob!)

oh, I went to Forks WA about 6 weeks ago...(i'm from Mississippi) was in Spokane Washington for a work related training class...decided to stay thru the weekend and drive to Forks. Lucky enough had a fellow Twilight Addict fly out for the weekend to go with me. Forks was very cool! Everything you've read in the book, when you see the real things, (school, streets, 1st Beach) it's totally awesome!

I'm so happy to hear you loved the movie. A lot of fans didn't for some reason. I thought it was beautifully made and I couldn't be happier with it. Rob, Kristen and Taylor did an amazing job. Ah! I can't believe you went to Forks! I bet you absolutely loved it, huh? I plan on going some day.

I haven't been on here for a while, so i'm out of the loop... why do a lot of fans not like new moon??? i've seen it 3 times and each time it gets better and better.... it's a little slow, but that's what the book is like - not a whole lot of action, so the fact that the movie DID have action is a huge thing!

I'm so curious as to why people didn't like it.... I agree, Rob Kristen and Taylor did so great - i'm so impressed with Kristen and Rob's acting - WAY BETTER than the first film.

On a separate note, i've been to forks as well... loved it!
I live about 4 hours away from forks (20 minutes north of seattle) so it's nice to be able to go over there for visits... it's very green, just like in the movies... in certain places anyway. I'm planning to go back again soon.... 1st beach is amazing, we saw whales and seals!!! EEEKKKK!

ok i think this is a perfect time for me to post my critical analysis of New Moon that i wrote about an hour after seeing it for the first time...

These were my thoughts (that I had to desperately write down so I wouldn’t forget what happened) .... some of my views have seince changed... going to see it for the fifth time today... but this is what i initially thought...

'I LOVED IT !!!!

I can understand how they say that those who haven't read the book can find it a little bit of a drag.. but if they found New Moon a drag.. then they must have found Twilight hell!! Because New Moon is so action packed and has a lot of light humour to break it up.

Kristen Stewart has really stepped up in New Moon... she really acted as we can assume Bella acted in the books... she is quiet and has short remarks, however does show alot of emotion. She looked a lot better as well.. not sure if it was the colours in the movie or her facial expressions but she really looked like BELLA! and yes, loved the little glimpse of her as a vampire too.. Maybe it was a little cheesy but it was pretty romantic and it was a vision after all... they couldn't show too much (especially that her as a vampire is not in the book of New Moon at all... best to save the good parts of her as a vampire for the infamous Breaking Dawn).

The movie is exactly like New Moon - the book - ... well pretty much exactly the same.
The way that Bella finds out about the werewolves is in a bit of a different order than in the book (the scenes between Jacob and Bella) but it still all makes sense.

I saw the movie with 4 die-hard Twilight fans and 1 friend who had only read Twilight... she LOVED the movie New Moon, and could follow even without reading the book.... Mind you she is now reading the book haha.

the funny bits! Like when Eric cries during Romeo and Juliet.

when Bella says to Alice 'please dont go' and Alice responds saying 'Ill come back, as soon as you put the dog out'
and ahhh soo much more humour that I will have to watch it again to pick it all up.
and I love how Bella goes to Jake at one point... 'YOUR BUFF' hahahaha

Loved how similar the movie is from the book. Really, for a movie to only take out and shorten a few parts from the book, it must be good. It was so so similar

Loved Victoria hair.. don't thinkshe actually had a line in the movie at all but gosh was she scary.

Loved Taylor Lautner... pretty sure I am team jacob for the time being.... H-O-T!

And of course... that ending! It put the 'drama' in 'dramatic!'

DISLIKED -
I kind of disliked that Bella was 'emailing' Alice in her depression. In the book, SM made it sound like she was a total zombie and didn't speak, didn't let out her emotions, didn't do anything pretty much except sleep, eat, homework and have nightmares. But in the movie, Bella expressed her feelings by writing them down. It kind of made it seem that she didn't get hit THAT hard and she wasn't THAT upset.

There was a little TOO much slow motion (like that weird thing when Felix is gonna attack Bella and Edward steps in, and the obvious others). But then again, who’s complaining about seeing Edward do his runway walk twice in the movie..with that shirt unbuttoned abit... and that smouldering face .. ahhhhhhhh

Didn't like how the scene where Edward takes Bella home to Charlie from Italy wasn't in there... a long with the aeroplane scenes with Bella and Alice, as well as Edward and Alice.

Where was Alice's impersionation of Edward 'Bella Promised' - was really hanging out for that.

Disliked how the friendship between Jacob and Bella kind of seemed already established - for example, on Bella's birthday right at the start of the movie when Jacob gave her the dream catcher. They way they were made it seem like they were already really close... whereas in the book, their friendship progressed in the months after Edward leaving.

The score was average. Carter Burwell was great, whereas this Andre dude was .. meh. Track 15 on the soundtrack wasn't even in full swing in themovie. Just glimpses of it and part of it in the final scene (the epilogue).

I think that the break up scene between Edward and Bella could have been a little more... Don't get me wrong.. it was great! and such great acting, particularly from Kristen Stewart... but I think maybe the music in the background could be a little more dramatic. and I don't know.. just something. I cried whilst watching it, but when I READ it, I balled! .. just could have maybe been a little more.



Loved the cliff diving scene - it really was similar to the book as in the book Bella said something like 'feet first when you don't know how deep it is'. There wasn't a dramatic leep into the water - it stayed true to the book. But that's not to say that there was no drama in that scene. That would have to be the most suspense filled part of the movie... of any movie !! Heart attack + Bella jumping + Victoria = a good scene!!

There was so much fighting which, although I am not the type of person that likes conflict and action movies, I loved the fighting in New Moon. It seemed like everyone was punching on haha. The fight between Wolf Jacob and Wolf Paul was absolutely amazing. Which brings me to the point of special effects. it was great! I agree with what someone in the passed had said... Chris Weitz would bring a 'Golden Compass' edge to the movie.. agree with that.

This has been said before and I will say it as well. Edward Cullen in the first instalment, Twilight, was a character that I really thought was EDWARD from the book. The hair, face, makeup, clothes, etc was him all the way. Whereas in New Moon it just was OK. Nothing spesh. The hair was too Rob Pattinson (which I love on Rob), and not enough Edward Cullen. Of course I might be a little too harsh on him as he really wasn't int he movie a great deal, but just how I felt. He was great int he hallucinations though. We really get to understand that Bella has pretty much lost the plot!

Well done to Taylor Lautner. He was great. May have even passed Krsiten Stewart in the acting department (which is a toughy). Hes body was phenominal, hes acting was great.... I could soo tell he was cold, however, in the scene where they were in the rain. hahaha. but how can you blame him!! Hes making me want to convert to the wolfy sideeeeee

One more thing to say.....

I can't wait to see it again !!!'


So thats it... but now i must say that K-Stew made the movie... initially i thought it was Taylor Lautner... but OMG - k-stew was phenominal.... her expressions, 'THEY'RE NOT BEARS', 'we dont have to keep doing this to each other', 'YOU CANT HURT EACH OTHER WITHOUT HURTING ME', 'Jacob, I love you, but dont make me choose.. coz it will be him.. its always been him'

ahhh cant wait to see it again today!

also.. on this post - this movie is epic, so no wonder it is breaking all kinds of records.

I pretty much agree on almost everything, except one really big thing. Maybe I'm biased. And even then, I don't think I am wrong. LOL. I thought there is no MAY HAVE passed KStew in acting as far as Taylor goes. It was a given. He was Jacob in the flesh.

Did I like K-stew better in New Moon? Hale yes. I was glad to see her earn some of this acting praise which is always coming her way and frankly, had never thought she'd earned. I am not bashing her, just stating my opinion. I was really impressed by the improvement from her from Twilight to New Moon.

But again, Taylor, for me, was the star of this movie. Not because he was shirtless or because he had more time than Rob. But because when he was on screen, I didn't see Taylor Lautner. I saw Jacob Black. And it was so amazing, it brought tears to my eyes.

Everyone knows I love Taylor. But I am not exaggerating how great he was. There was not a single second where he slipped and I saw Taylor playing Jacob. I saw our Jacob. Funny, cocky, stubborn, angry, bitter, loving, and darn, was he heartbroken in the end...he was truly brought to life. And I am so happy and so proud of Tay for giving that to us.

yeh i think they both did a great job. but kristen really stepped up in NM.. i kinda expected taylor to be great.. and he was!

I'm biased too. And no way was Taylor as good as Kristen, IMO. He seemed to over act the hell out of most scenes. Every single time he spoke, it was a macho growl. None of the sweet gentle Jacob that so informed Taylor's performance in Twilight. It was just too one dimensional for me. That one dimension was great, but he actually made good lines sound a bit cheesy at times.

I think I am maybe being too hard on him. I was sick the day I saw the movie, and havent recovered enough to see it again yet. Maybe I will change my mind next time I see the movie.

They are all great, including Taylor.

You are right and I am wrong. I went back to see the movie today, and
Taylor's performance was AMAZING; he didn't growl the performance as I
thought. I was quite ill the first time I saw it, and of course I had
Stephenie Meyer's dialog in my mind, so I had mixed feelings. This time
I saw it twice and I adored it. I think Kristen gave the standout
performance, but Taylor more than held his own. He fought for the role
and played it perfectly. The movie is a masterpiece and Taylor's
performance one of the highlights. I cannot imagine what I was
thinking. I was clearly wrong and crazed and I hereby tender my
heartfelt apology for my stupid remark about Tays performance. I can
see why you were astonished. I LOVED THE MOVIE!!

Thanks,FF. I try to refrain from starting an all out war, but it really annoys me that people can sit here and fail to acknowledge what a spectacular job Taylor did.

Anyone who's read my comments knows I adore (who am i kidding? outright love) this "kid". It started with casually liking him in Twilight, then real interest when I read New Moon and fell in love with Jacob. Seeing him transform and totally embrace his character the last few months settled the deal.

I knew he could do it. All this without even seeing the movie. Seeing it was magical because, after all, I'd been trusting him on blind faith alone. And now I know that I and my pack girls were right and it feels so freaking darn good to see it on the big screen. As much as I love Taylor (and it's a lot LOL), he took a back seat to his character. It was all about Jacob.

So yes, thank you for realizing it too. I wish some people could step off their high horse and acknowledge that fact.

I'm gonna say it...and I'm pretty sure that anyone here that knows me knows what I'm about to say...

I loved the film and when I get the chance I'm going to go see it again but...I don't believe that KStew improved AT ALL in New Moon. Her acting was poor in Twilight and it was just as bad in New Moon. I was disappointed with Rob as well. His acting was sub-standard in NM.

I'm probably going to cop a lot of flack for saying that but I truly feel that both RPattz and KStew were out-acted by EVERY OTHER cast member! The only time I ever felt ANYTHING during the film was when someone OTHER than those two were on screen. I felt nothing when Edward left, I felt nothing as Bella went through those months of loneliness or when she screamed at night...but I DID feel something when Jacob was angry, when Sam and Emily showed how much they loved each other, when Charlie was so deeply worried about Bella, when Rosalie said 'no'...THAT in my opinion highlights the fact that KStew and RPattz just don't cut it.

I know a lot of people won't agree with me...but this is just my opinion.

I'm sorry but KStew and RPattz have almost completely destroyed Edward and Bella for me...and I now find myself watching the films for everyone else BUT them.

i honestly loved kristen in NM (and not because i think k-stew is the coolest thing since sliced bread... coz i didnt particularly like her much in Twilight). but i really believe she stepped up and showed so much emotion in NM!!

ill admit that i kind of expected more from rob but i think he did a good job with what he was given (just hope hes more Twilight-ish in Eclipse than New Moon-ish).


i personally think that no human can live up to the expectation of edward cullen and bella swan that stephenie myer created.. but kristen stewart and rob pattinson are the most fitting for the part and i think that the level of acting from kristen stewart in new moon was A-MAZING!!

She's never been a very good actress and I dare say she never will. She lacks any believablity or emotion...or talent. And the constant pouting and angst is enough to make me want to smack my head against a wall. Her interpretation of Bella is NOT Bella. Bella smiled and laughed in Twilight with her friends in the book...but there was none of that in the film. I'm sorry but she just comes up short in every way for me.

Nice comment--I agree with most of what you say. I did actually like the fact that Rob acted an older Edward, though (even the clothes); I thought it was a nice contrast to the obviously young Jacob, and it fit in with the state Edward was in. Yes, I am still abit worried about bella's wig, since I haven't seen it in action in film .. the photos taken were just bad ... i hope it looks better on film. I've seen it twice, which is a forkin' miracle seeing as I usually only get out of the house to do something for myself once every couple of months (sad, but true). I think these numbers are AMAZING considering the fan base is primarily female. Think about it. When Bella and Jake are in the kitchen right before the phone call from Edward. I think it is the camera that does the closeup on Bella. It is in the hallway behind Jake.

I was something I noticed in the first movie and its just a consideration that Edward won't change Bella before she marries him and he won't have sex with her until they are married. Even though he gives up and basically says he will have sex with her because it is too hard to stay away, she still holds out and vows to keep that for their wedding night. Just a thought.

I have seen the movie three times so far, but that's not to say I'm finished by a long shot. I didn't notice the camera in the background, but in the ending scene when Edward and Bella see Jacob, you can definitely see the light box reflecting in Bella's eye. I noticed it during the first viewing and can't not notice it each time I see it. And that Burger King bag when Mike and Jacob are waiting for the movie always gets me. I also can't help but wonder if the Virgin Airlines is some sort of inuendo for the moral of the series. Was it intentional or just a coincidence?

Thursday was Thanksgiving. It's a national holiday and almost all stores/businesses are closed. A majority of people get the next day off (not me though sniff) and take a long 4 day weekend.

That was the plan for me as well but the stupid piggy flu took up all of my time off. I was to spend the holiday with one of the pack girls, LWNV in Boston.

I saw new moon 3 times al ready and I am plannig to go another 3 times more. Every time I see the movie I see diferent things and diferent meanings, also for me every time I see it I can get more of the lines (my english is not 100%).

Actually, I'm not. There's many of us who feel the movie didn't do the book justice.

The movie was too short to really build and develop the story properly. They should of had it at 3 hours like they do with the Harry Potter movies. The book is too long and detailed for a two hour movie.

Wow, the break-up scene, the screams, the "Possibility" scene? No pain? That's all I felt, or rather the emptiness, which is even worse. It gets to me just thinking about it. I didn't feel like she healed either. That's what the cliff dive scene was all about. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it more. :/

I still can't believe that New Moon is already out...

It was just like last year they announced they were gonna proceed with the sequel.
And now... here we are... with the movie out... for a week and a half...
I feel sad...

I've seen it 3 times and I'm planning on seeing it more. I feel like I get more Edward scenes each time I go. Taylor was great in the movie, but Rob just drew me in with his sadness and love for Bella. I'm so happy for Eclipse and having Edward around for the whole movie.

Someone mentioned this new Vampire movie above, so I looked it up on u tube, Def interesting plot, The whole world in turned into Vampires.Looks really really good, and Ethan Hawke. Yum. :)

Is that the daybreakers movie? When i saw New moon the trailer came on and the first thing i thought was "They have the same eyes as the Cullens" and it drew me right out of the trailer.

Well, I actually have my disqus page on my favourites. When I'm in my account and I click on "Replies" it's not loading. I just get a neverending spinning circle. Ugh. I had to go back on this post on nmm.org to find your reply to this one. I love my laptop but it's almost 10 yrs old and it's starting to give me some problems so I'm not sure if it's just me or everyone else too.

I've seen in three times and have turned down two additional friends to going to see it because i fall asleep during jacob's part. i feel awful bc i'm such an obsessed fan my friends make fun of me constantly but idk what it is it's like i don't want to live in a world where edward doesn't exist lol.

I'm getting goosebumps thinking about that DVD. If it was as great as the film... even though the Twilight film left a lot to be desired, the commentary was KILLER!

I saw it today once again... so I've seen it 4 times so far. I will probably go see it again sometime this week and next weekend. At least once a week for the months to come, lol.

What can I say? It just keeps getting better and better the more times I see it. And I notice things I didn't notice the 3 other times I saw it, lol. LOVE IT! :-)

I'm not embarrassed to say that the Twilight Saga is a HUGE part of my life and always will be. Greatest thing ever. Period.

I've gone to see the movie 5 times already, and I plan on seeing it a couple more. So I've done my fair share of contributing.

OK. I went to see NM AGAIN for the sixth time tonight and I was actually shocked that the theatre was sold out. It was awesome. Of course, it was a bad audience. No one laughed at any of the funny moments. Me and my coworker were horse laughing at different times and people kept giving us weird looks.

But it was sold out, on the second weekend, at a 7PM showing, after a massive amount of negative reviews. WTF?

That was kind of awesome.

Yes, six times I have seen the EC Diva Strut on a BIG screen.

But most importantly, six times I have seen Kristen in all her awesomeness for two hours straight. I am in love. :)

You know forget Team Edward or Team Jacob, Team Kristen, that girl hit a grand slam. This movie belonged to her, she gave Bella ovaries.

I went last night to South Beach also 2 see it and it was packed house : )

I dont think I can get tired of New Moon... I went with TSO and she said that I had a smile like the 1st night I saw it : )

I can't get enough of it either. I'm sorry, I don't care what anybody says, I love it. Sure, it has stuff that is not perfect and some stuff was left out, but it is so good. I can't get enough.

Are you kidding? It pretty much got bashed for the most part. Just don't go to rottentomatoes.com.

I don't really pay attention to movie reviews normally because i went to one, one time and it gave away so much about the movie even the ending that i lost my taste for it. But, i'm surprised NM got bad reviews because i thought it was wonderful. The only neg things i thought about it were the transitions were a bit choppy during the movie but it didn't bother me at all after the first time watching it and I've seen it five times.

That's like Slumdog Millionaire. Don't get me wrong, really good movie. But dangit, they made it out to be the best thing since sliced bread and I thought, factoring in the movies from that same year, that Gran Torino and The Dark Knight were exponentially better quality films.

That's why I will read reviews, but still form my own opinions.

I agree about the Slumdog Millionaire thing, after months of getting media assaulted I decided to catch it on HBO and I could only watch five mins then i was out. Critics think too much of themselves and they are in total different generations then us. I rely on trailers..

Gasp, even fans?? Wow. But, it was such a better adaptation then the first movie... I don't get it. Hmm, well i adored it.

I have seen it 3 times but I have taken friends and family with me each time so I have bought a total of 13 tickets and I am nowhere near finished so I am doing my part.

I'm not that surprised that it has done better already, I think it was much better than Twilight!

I've seen this movie three times already alright alright I do feel sorry for Jake, but that does not make me switch teams, because darn it this movie made me want to see more Edward and Bella, I guess maybe they didn't need to say any moochie stuff cause we all know why Edward left, and come on that strut? only Mr Cullen could get away with that.

I saw it for the 6th time yesterday. Can't wait for Eclipse, which is my favorite of the series.

I saw it for the second time today. I must say people who said see it again were right because the first time I saw it, it was love/hate. I liked it, but the exact dialog of Stephenie was fresh in my mind and the changes threw me. Today I saw it again (twice), and it was a revelation. So much better this time! I cried so hard when Bella told Jacob that "I love you. But please don't make me choose... it will be Edward. It's always been Edward." OMG.

I have to say I loved EVERYTHING about the movie (almost) this time. I even fell in love with the music which I now consider superior to Twilight.
My only big exception is the fight scene with Felix. Edward should be able to beat anyone because he can see their moves before they make them. The books make it clear that neither Emmett nor even Jacob can beat Edward, because of his gifts (clairvoyance and speed). Edward is the fastest Vampire in the Universe, so I hope in BD he gets a chance to kick Felix's butt.

Eclipse is my favorite book too, and I cannot wait to see it! I am just in love with this movie. I also was wrong about Taylor's performance. It is GREAT. I was sick the first time I saw it and Tay does give an outstanding performance. I still think Kristen gives a magnificent performance. I wish she would be nominated for the Academy Award. I realize that many don't find New Moon worthy but I do. Her performance was nuanced and amazing. The whole movie is magic.

I'm not shocked. I knew we could do it! Come on! We're the crazy Twilight fans and were showing everyone who proved us wrong!

I only saw it twice because I'm very low on funds. I want to see it again really bad though.

I finally watched it last night.... and it was far better than Twilight, but I wouldn't say I loved it. Some of the dialog was just SO CHEESEY! I mean, reading it in the book it was a bit cheesey, but hearing it out loud just seemed so much worse.

The acting was very good. I'm not usually a fan of Kristen Stewart, but I will admit she did much better than I was expecting in this movie. Make-up and styling was great, too. The look of the wolves was incredible. There was so much expression in their faces and they looked much more real than I was expecting, but then there was the cgi waves that just looked SO fake, it kind of distracted me. The music was also hit or miss. Sometimes I feel like the song playing (Bella drowning for example) actually took away the efect of what was on screen. I would have loved absolute silence during Bella's near drowning. I think that would have given that moment so much more gravity. The score also felt very generic.

I guess, overall I'd give it a B-... but I'll still get the DVD and watch it a lot. I'm hoping that, like Twilight, multiple viewings will allow me to pick up on more of the little things that I may have missed. Little things, that might mean nothing to the average viewer, but mean something to those who have read the books. :-)

EDIT: I was just looking at critiques on RottenTomatoes... I love how some people are so angry that the "Werewolves didn't look like werewolves. They just looked like big wolves!" It made me giggle.

I work at the movies in New Zealand. New Moon is currently looping in 3 different cinemas. During my 8 hour shift yesterday, I watched Edward do his sexy walk across the carpark about 12 times LOL Ive memorised all my favourite bits and what time they happen in the movie then I make sure Im in the cinema at the exact right moment hahahaha. My workmates think its hilarious that I can cut off mid-conversation to run into a cinema just to see Edward walking across the carpark/Edward recite Romeo and Juliet/The first time Bella see's Jacob with short hair/When Alice comes back/Bella run into Edward under the clocktower/Edward propose to Bella...LOL
