I completely agree with choosing a different screenwriter...the current one has done a descent job but there could be some improvement on the lines and scenes chosen thus far. And BD is such an important book, i would want the very best screenwriter.

A List Of The Things I Think Cat Hardwicke Did Right:

1) Casting the amazing trio known as Rob, Kristen, AND Taylor. Without the chemistry between the three of them, Eclipse wouldn't be as much fire and ice as animal crackers and juicy juice.

2) The soundtrack. She had a lot to do with the bands that made it on the first soundtrack, and I for one and so glad that a larger audience was introduced to some more alternative/borderline indie stuff. Great precursor for the indie-tastic NMST.

3) The kiss. It's not set up that way in the book, but it's still freakin hot.

4) The apple cameo. I hope CW adds the flower bit, and DS adds something with the red ribbon, because the way she incorporated it in the movie was pretty kewl.

I'm pretty sure 99% of the answers that will be popping up here within the next minutes/hours (or until there's a new post) will be saying: Chris Weitz.

And it's hard not to agree. I'm a fan of Chris's work myself and for what we've seen so far he's done a great job with NM. There's a enormous difference between the two movies and I must say that the NM clips and trailers look way much better than the whole Twilight movie.

There's that voice of reason that says: wait people you haven't seen the movie yet, sometimes the trailers show what's best in a film, while everything else is just boring and not the way we imagined it. But I trust Chris and I know NM won't disappoint me.

And hell, you see more skin on tv than you do in this movie. If kids are watching all those shows where everone is sleeping around and half naked. I don't think seeing Bella's bare back is too much.
I mean, Edward and her in the water. It's his back you see. Then her hair will cover her upper parts when she's with him in the water. Then you get a little shiver, some rough breathing, and then it's morning.
Her bare back..omg it's just too much...not...
Even if you include some of that night, all it's going to be is one of those scenes where you see a leg uncovered, a bare back, their faces kissing. Some rolling around covered by a sheet. Backround noise of somes growls..deep breathing..Okay, I must stop myself..LOL
The next day, bare back with a sheet over the rest while her and Edward have their discussion. Even looking at her naked body in the mirror. It will be a shot of her face, we'll just think the rest of her is naked. A close up of her arm bruised, her rib, ect. Not that hard to film.
Even broken headboard, it could be the same as the first night..More breathing, rolling around, bits and pieces scene, then a crunch of the headboard.

Heck I think you described more than they'd show in the movie anyway LOL. Honestly sexy and romantic can be filmed without hard core things being shown. The more you leave for thought is even better because Lord knows we all have a gutter imagination in this fanily. LOL

I'd be happy with just up close face shots. Seeing some black fire in those eyes. Hands weaving themselves in hair. Some pained looks from Edward, like in the extended kiss scene. Just the growling alone with that...mmmm..okay..I'm going there. LOL Oh wait...need some bare back action from Edward on top..oh crap..going to the gutter..
Too bad we don't have a chance in hell of getting an R-rated DVD version..I know someone suggested that before.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if it was possible, I'd have a C.H/C.W collaboration. She can focus on the emotional drama (hopefully get Kris to tone down the blinky-blink a bit more) and he can take care of everything else.

Do you want the Monkey lines to return, I much prefer Weitz/Slade collaboration or or, Paul and Chris Weitz, Paul is the director of the Vampire's Assistant, and they both have worked together before. Although my third choice is Len Weismen of the Underworld franchise. Come on folks I want a grow up feeling here, no sugary wishy washy movie. This is Saga needs to go out with a bang. not a whimper.

Well, like I said, the emotional stuff. 'spider monkey' isn't exactly emotional is it? People rag on C.H a lot but one thing she really succeeded at is getting the emotions of Twilight across to the audience. Rob and Kris smoldered their way through Twilight and I don't hear any Belward fans complaining about that.

It wasn't a perfect movie, obviously, and not all of it is C.H.'s fault. I would've kicked Rosenberg to the curb ages ago if it were at all possible. However, for what it was, it touched most Twilight lovers enough that they fell even more in love with the story, and the actors who portray their favorite characters. C.H. is to be thanked for that.

I think she did a good job with casting only....she completely missed the love story.

Have to agree. The sexual tension was so much there between Rob and Kristen, but that I think was just good casting, not directing.

If Breaking Dawn were 2 films than Catherine Hardwicke for the first part (marriage, honeymoon, birth) and Chris Weitz for the second (after Bella's transformation & showdown with the Volturri). Catherine is not given enough credit for directing a marvelous TWILIGHT (I loved it) and most importantly, for casting this saga with PEFECT actors. Kristen, Rob, Taylor, etc. Go Catherine! But if Breaking Dawn were just the one film, these 2 directors would rock.

If, for whatever reason, I do not win the bid for Breaking Dawn director, I'd like to see New Moon in it's entirety (15 days!!) AND an Eclipse trailer before I jump on the CW for BD bandwagon.

I mean, Mr. Slade spoiled us, and by his tweets alone I feel he's doing the third book justice.

IF Breaking Dawn is made into two movies, I'd like to consider Chris Weitz for the first part (he can create Reneesme and such) and then David Slade for the second part- battle and all. If it's just one movie, I'd recommend a joint collaborative effort.

BUT- I'm still RIMR for BD. L-O-L

You know, I think that by the time we see Eclipse the decision as to who will direct Breaking Dawn will be history. As a matter of fact, it may even be that, as we speak, the decision is already history, or at the very least they may be in negotiations with someone.

When the big decision is made--and I think it will probably be within the next month--they may or may not announce the director, however I'd be willing to bet they know who it will be....and I'm really hoping they're going with Chris.

Why not? I am really hoping it's Chris, personally, but if, for some reason Chris is unavailable or something, why not Ron Howard? I think he is a fantastic director. He has done some of my favorite movies. He certainly has the money and the clout and the people behind him to get things done right.

If he wanted to do it and the producers wanted him I think he would fit right in there and do the job. He does well with fantasy movies and special effects--he also knows how to make very "human" characters that are very relateable and he can bring out the best in his actors.

I really LOVE what I've seen from CW with New Moon. I think he would do an amazing job with Breaking Dawn especially the first half of it. I think I would be totally comfortable with the idea of him directing our precious closure to the saga but I think we should also wait and see what DS gives us in Eclipse. We could be just as impressed. I'm not sure he would want to work back to back like that (yes I am being hopeful and praying that they will waste no time in beginning to film Breaking Dawn.)

I, too, love everything Joss Whedon does. He has such clearly defined characters--but they are usually his characters, his stories. I don't know if he would really want to have to stick so closely to someone else's story.

Intriguing idea, however. I wonder if and how he would bring Breaking Dawn to life? I'm sure he would have no problem whatsoever in bringing Renesmee to life!

Also the Romance stuff, remeber the passion with Buffy and AngeL? and Buffy and Spike.. that was Hot! :) but I see your point, he likes to do his own stuff, but ya never know, with The Saga . Everyone wants in, in HollyWood.

Yes, Joss can really convey the passion and the longing. Good fight scenes, too.

He has also made some nice comments about the Twilight saga when asked about the phenomena in interviews.

Another problem, though, he may not want to be known so much for vampire movies, either. He has already done a movie an 2 TV series that have to do with them. He might want diversity.

I thought Breaking Dawn was ok. Here is the best part, if they transfer it to the screen there is some stuff that can be taken out or made better. I'm still hoping for a semi-good love making scene, I don't want them to just fade to black. It can still be done on a PG-13 film, and they make love! its not just some sex scene. Oh and I'm giddy to see the wedding play out and Edward taking off her garter with his teeth :D & I think Chris Weitz is the man to bring this story back to life!!!

Honeymoon- what made it so hot was the suggestion, so they don't need to show anything- that would ruin it.
Birth scene? Gotta have her 'throw up a fountain of blood' like in the book to start the process- like tweens don't see that sort of thing and people puking and stuff? Ever seen Itchy and Scratchy on the Simpsons?? She's just throwing up.....
As for the birth, it is described very fuzzy from Bella's viewpoint, and if they switched to her viewpoint then, we would miss the gore, and they could switch back and forth between seeing the interaction between Edward/Bella/Rosalie without showing blood- even Rosalie starting the c-section can be from the head of the bed and you wouldn't see it spurt- duh, a vampire is going to react.... It never has to go to Bella's viewpoint and Jacob's, it is just about who is dominant in the scene. I am concerned about MR doing it, but also about anyone else getting it after three movies and totally changing the feel. But CW NEEDS to direct it. He would be the right feel to the movie. No comments, CW lovers!!!! You know what I mean!!!!

True Breaking Dawn is soft compared to what is in the theaters now which is what makes me mad when they say they can't show anything.

The sex part there are ways around that and they can be absolutely beautiful and sexy and I think Kristen and Robert can so deliver that.

Well, if we're allowed to vote for a team of directors I think I would combine two of the most popular suggestions on here:

Chris Weitz and Tim Burton TEAM directing for Breaking Dawn.

Think of it: CW can handle the entire first book (romance, weddings, headboards, feathers)
TB can handle Jacob's book and the discovery of Bella's almost ill-fated pregnancy and delivery, and of course the imprinting (I think he's quirky enought to pull it off in a non-offensive way)
Combine the two for Bella's vampire book and.... presto! We have a multi-million dollar, record-breaking blockbuster!!!

The odds of DS signing on to do another installment might be slim (IMO) but that would be awesome if they both signed on.

I don't think BD must be a bloody and scary movie, all "heavy" scenes should be really well writen to become a good movie, and not a horror movie.
