The reason TIWLIGHT (my FAVORITE BOOK) was crap was because MR was the screen writer and i thought...hey maybe NEW MOON will be different u know more money better know director...i gave it a change but NOOOOOO she ruined it again!!! UGH!! I mean JACOB was not JACOB from the book!!! I was soooo waiting for his "sure sure" line no it was replaced by old man dialogue ("what a marshmellow" or "don't make me angry or things will get very ugly") HELLO!!! I saw it twice and thats all i could take cuz i get so PIZZED OFF at it!!! She is a horrible screen writer. You can change all the the directors you want but as long as MR is doing the screen play the movie is not going to shine!!! Oh and I HOPE she does not write BD!!! I will be sooooo freakin mad!!!

But at least she's putting in the tent scene, I truly love that chapter. But god only knows what she'll do with it. She'll probably make it that Jacob imprints on Edward and they both ditch bella. :P

Before new moon was released ... I found a draft script of it on some twilight site. I waited until I watched New Moon to read it since I didn't want to spoiler.

and when I read the script.... there was no MOVIE SCENE... she was gonna have Jake & Bella bike scene ...(the one when Bella was bleeding), then Bella would go "Jake you're hot" as part of his transformation. I'm so glad they finally decided to put the movie scene because the date was funny.

And there was no proporsal scene. It was just Jake ran away. Thank God Chris fixed it. Tho it's a huge cliffhanger lol but at least it gets us pumped up for Eclipse

also I noticed in the rough draft script, there was also a scene that shows cullen family gather around ... (with no Edward though) discussing their concern of Edward being gone. Too bad it didnt make it to the movie.

I dont like MR ... doesn't mean I hate her ...just don't really like her. Sometimes it's like she tries to put most quotes in the book to the movie...but sometimes it's like out of the place. and I am sad there is no "who's afraid of the big bad wolf" and "sure,sure" quote in the movie!! :(

I know. No "sure sure" - what was up with that? It could have been so easily put in. I.e. movie scene Bella says she feels bad that Mike probably has the stomache flu - insert "sure sure" here. See how easy that was? And I also really liked the "who's afraid of the big bad wolf".

In Bella’s truck she says ‘mad skillz’, a phrase so bad, Bart Simpson probably said it once 10 years ago. Then there’s the way Bella recognises Sam Uley on the cliff, from that vast distance, although she only saw him once when she was nearly catatonic yet she doesn’t recognise Embry at that distance, even though she knows him pretty well and he’s only had a haircut. Then she asks if Jake has ‘some kind of beef’ with Sam’s gang. Again, Bart Simpson, circa 1999.

In Emily’s kitchen, there’s no need for Emily to say she’s engaged to a wolf; we know that already and it lessens the impact of her and Bella’s ‘vampire girl/wolf girl’ exchange.

Bella’s statement that, “You can’t run with vampires, because they’re fast,” sounds like something a five year old would say. So, Bella goes from cougar to kindergartener. She’s chatting and joking with the pack although she still thinks they’re murderers at this point. Switching the order of scenes didn’t pan out here.

The terrible Face Punch movie title is so bad that I find my finger pressing an imaginary fast-forward button when I’m in the cinema. Even Bella’s human friends with their brilliant ad-libbing can’t save that dud.

I know Jake and Bella’s break up scene was heavily rewritten but there’s some of it that still doesn’t work for me. Bella saying, “You cut your hair off and got a tattoo” before asking anything else. She’s been worried; she wouldn’t be focussed on the superficial things. Jake saying he used to be “...a good kid,” sounds hokey to me. I can’t imagine a 16 year calling himself a kid.”

When Bella tells Jake to be careful because he doesn’t know how fast Victoria is, it seems stupid because he’s just told her that the pack chased Victoria to Canada. She should have been telling him that Victoria is dangerous.

The conversation between Bella and Jake in her truck after the cliff dive is flat and stilted. Their body language is great but the dialogue is pointless. Jake says he thinks he’s going to disappear but doesn’t explain that he means he feels he won’t be able to change back to human form. It’s left hanging and doesn’t sound right.

When Alice is back, so little of the conversation with Bella is shown, it leaves a lot of the following dialogue feeling clumsy and without context. The exchange between Alice and Jake is rubbish and grammatically incorrect.

Bella immediately knows she smells of wet dog because of Jake which seems like a stretch. Alice only knows that Jake is a werewolf and she doesn’t know about Victoria because the pack clouds her visions but as soon as Jake walks in she seems to know he’s referring to Victoria and she also knows there’s a pack. How could Alice know that when she can’t see werewolves and she’s only found out that Jake is a werewolf? Suddenly, Alice seems to read minds like Edward!

In Volterra when Bella and Edward are reunited, she says, “I can let you go now,” which sounds trite and she wouldn’t say that when she’s just been reunited with him after 7 months apart.

After Volterra, when Charlie opens Bella’s bedroom door to check on her, he isn’t too upset, doesn’t ask where she’s been and doesn’t mention Edward at all. This leaves Edward’s great line about not breaking the rules because he came in the window a bit unnecessary, without the context of Charlie saying he’s not welcome and Bella isn’t to see him.

The vote fell flat without Edward getting angry. He gave in to Bella becoming a vampire far too easily.

The final scene is rushed and when Edward reads from Jake’s mind that he thinks he’s keeping Bella away from La Push, it makes no sense because they’ve only been back from Italy for a day.

Bella says, “I can’t do this alone,” when Edward says she shouldn’t become a vampire and this makes no sense. Of course she can’t change herself; that is what they were talking about.

I tend to over-analyse and correct everything I watch or read but once I got that all written, I found I could live with the bad things, even laugh at them, and enjoy the movie more.

just from listening to the dialouge in the movie, she tries to be "hip and modern" with all the things that bella says but they just dont sound RIGHT!

There's nothing worse than someone trying to guess what's cool and failing so badly. It's hard to write for age groups other than your own. I'm writing an YA novel and I have to really think about every line of dialogue, to ask whether 15 and 16 year olds would really talk like that.
She's got the books and she ignores the dialogue in them that works and makes stuff up. There's no need for it.

I have to add a glaringly obvious part of the movie that makes me cringe horribly.. the exchange with Embry and Quil. Oh my God, can you make the dialogue even WORSE? Just stick to the $^$^% book and what they actually said!! That whole "girlfriend" exchange and the "burn" was so bad. I did sorta like how Tyler said his name with his "i'm all hot" look, but that was it. Plus, the dialogue being so bad and the fact that Kiowa and Tyler are new to acting REALLY showed the glaring difference between them and Kristen/Taylor (who were fine in the scene).

Yeah, Quil and Embry did sound like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was bad! The "I'm Quil Ateara" line was well delivered but it went downhill after that! The wolf pack are amateurs and I love them but I think more could have been done to bring the best out in them. The script wasn't exactly inspiring.
I think we could all do better than that. At least we read every word of the books and really know the story.

I heard that Crosshairs was the name of an actual movie, so they had to come up with something else. Kind of a lame name, but the movie was supposed to be lame too, so I guess it all works.

I think it's funny when Edward said the vampire thing too but it was just the wrong setting. He should have been more discreet.
I love everything but the awful dialogue and the hurried ending. If the whole facepunch thing was CW's idea I dread to think what MR's original idea was if he replaced it with that! It sounded funny in the cinema but the cast all looked so embarrassed. Maybe hanging around that woman spreads bad taste!

Everything from Italy on was extremely rushed. I mean I know that Jacob and the pack are the main focus through most of the book.. but seriously.. Italy and on is soooooooooooo extremely important and emotional.. and a lot of that was left out. I'm sure a lot of people who don't know the story (including myself and I've read the books) were a little lost when Edward and Bella were talking in her room and then all of a sudden they are at the Cullens.. it's like.. whoa.. what? Why are they there?

The whole ending of the movie had a completely different mood than the book.. still liked it.. but not as much

We expect things to be different in the movie but the changes have to make sense. The odd cringy line, OK, but there are just so many.
There's too many parts where you think, "That doesn't make sense."
I think CW performed a miracle in salvaging the movie from her screenplay.

Then there’s the exchange between Bella and Jacob. In what alternate reality would a girl like Bella, a lover of the classics and not the most modern girl, ever say, “Hello biceps,” and “You know anabolic steroids are really bad for you?” And right in front of Edward too. Not likely.

This all seems almost smooth in comparison to the horrible, “You give me everything just by breathing,” line that Edward is forced to spew next, which is too cheesy, too trite and nowhere near as sweet as a lot of the lines from the book that could have been used instead.

The next part is actually pretty amusing. It’s the part when Bella is coerced into going to her own birthday party. Jasper’s lines are funny and Alice vaulting the stairs is cute but when you really think about that scene it doesn’t hang together well at all.

The Cullen’s put a lot of effort in remaining inconspicuous and they would never reveal their peculiarities to humans other than Bella. So why does Bella call out loudly to Jasper, “No fair with the mood control thing,” with other students walking past? And then Edward says the word vampire with the same lack of concern.

Moving on to the birthday party there’s no explanation of why they think Victoria is coming after Edward. Edward saying to Bella, “You already do protect me,” and “It’s my job to protect you,” is probably supposed to sound romantic but both lines merely sound weak and nonsensical.

The idea of Bella getting onto that strange guy’s bike after the zombie movie really doesn’t work. She’s not the sort of girl to do that, no matter how much she wants to see Edward. Her dad’s a cop, for pity’s sake.

Now we get to the worst, most painful parts of the movie. This begins with Jake calling Bella “Loca,” which instantly makes me wonder when he turned into Ricky Martin. This is nothing compared to the horrors that follow in quick succession.

Bella telling Jake he’s “buff”. He is, of course, but Bella doesn’t speak like that.

Almost all of the dialogue in Jake’s garage in cringe-making. The ‘influencer’ and ‘influencee’ thing is clumsy and when Quil and Embry talk they sound like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I hate to even think of the next one because I hate it so much. Bella saying she’s not a ‘cougar’. I feel a bit sick just thinking about it. She’s 18. Come on!

after watching the movie, i actually liked all those scenes and thought they were great..

when u really think about it, book Bella wouldnt say any of those things and yeah ur right, why dont they use the sweet edward quotes from the book instead of making up those cheesy ones...

I am so sorry if I ruined it for you! I felt these things had to be said or I'd crack up. It's not that the movie isn't good, it's just that it could have been even better. I'm not attacking it, I love it and I've seen it six times.
I miss all the nice, romantic things Edward says in the book and a lot of Jake's really funny lines didn't make it either. I think it would be possible to go through the written script and replace all the crappy bits with parts from the book, or at least paraphrased parts, and improve it no end.

Okay, I feel stupid... but loco is crazy in Spanish, right? Is that the same sort of thing for loca? I mean... where the hell did that come from? ::slinks aways feeling sorta silly:: haha

I don't know Spanish but that line made me hear Living La Vida Loca in my head for the next five minutes and that makes me very angry. Very freaking angry!

The first atrocity is committed in the parking lot of Forks High School, after a natural and ad-libbed conversation between the humans which is brilliant. Things go downhill rapidly after Edward appears and performs his now legendary strut. After an entrance like that, it seems only fair to expect a wonderful bit of dialogue to follow it. What does Edward Cullen say to make Bella and the audience go weak at the knees?

“Your birth is definitely something to celebrate.”

Really? Is this the best Edward could come up with for the woman he loves?

In the books and in Twilight, we were told that Edward was born in 1901 and became a vampire at the age of 17, meaning he’s 108. When Bella cracks a joke about age he says he’s 109. Melissa Rosenberg can’t even keep the continuity right from Twilight to New Moon; or has the saga been mysteriously transported into the future? This is such a basic writing error.

It wouldn't surprise me to find at the end of the Eclipse film Bella and Jacob eloping.

I wouldn't be surprised either.

Maybe Bella got knocked up in the tent while Edward was away.

Maybe Victoria didn't die since MR wrote in more scenes for her in New Moon.

Without the pregnancy, there IS a fic like that. LOL. And it's actually very well-written.. and long! haha.
