Kristen Stewart’s upcoming movie The Runaways will be premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January as well as her other film Weclome to the Rileys. Here’s a new photo and synopsis of The Runaways.
Of all the bands to come out of the 1970s Los Angeles music scene, The Runaways are by far the most uniquely fascinating. This is partially due to their music but more so to the fact that they were teenage girls whose wild and reckless lifestyle was the stuff of legend.Focusing on the duo of guitarist/vocalist Joan Jett and lead vocalist Cherie Currie as they navigate a rocky road of touring and record-label woes, the film chronicles the band’s formation as well as their meteoric rise under the malevolent eye of an abusive manager.
Acclaimed video artist Floria Sigismondi directs from her own script and her luscious camerawork captures every sweaty detail—from the filthy trailer where the women practiced to the mosh pits of Tokyo. What really makes the film cook are the sizzling performances by Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart. Not to be missed, The Runaways is an ode to an era and a groundbreaking band.

Along with the JJ picture above, here is another WTTR still that I guess came out today as well.
I wasn't a commenter back then, I was just an observer but I do remember all the hate. I never really saw an issue with her hair…I mean, hair grows back! To me, everyone will just take you that much more seriously if you're an actress willing to cut your hair like that for a role. I'm proud of her. I agree with you on the wig issue. That is totally Summit's problem. The first pictures that surfaced I was appalled at and freaked out about thinking that they have WAY TOO much money to not spend on a main character to let her hair look that bad. But the Eclipse still (if that is an Eclipse still) that is out, her wig looks good there. So, I will reserve judgment until the first trailer or more stills emerge.
Both WTTR and The Runaways are indies. They are being released at Sundance in January. Not sure when will be released in cinemas.
The sad part is, whether the wig looks awesome or horrid in Eclipse, people will complain about it regardless. It could actually look like her old hair, and people will still say “omg it looks awful” just because they know it's a wig. Frustrating.

We've seen 2 photos of the Eclipse wig and one was in the meadow and it looked fine there. The second photo was a pap one, from a distance and not while they were filming. I wonder if it's fair to judge that one since the appearance might have been fixed a bit before they filmed that scene.
The wigs have been awful but maybe a little more effort will have been put in for the female lead.

Exactly. Wouldn't it have made more sense for her to wear a wig for Runaways? Especially knowing Eclipse filming was just around the corner. And with the Joan Jett hair style, you don't have to worry about seeing the hairline on her forehead so the wig would have been less obvious. I really hope they did a better job with her wig in Eclipse than they did with the wigs in New Moon.
we actually have seen more than two. one with renee and the first one we saw was the one on the grad day. and judging by those two it didn't look good. but i will give it a chance until the movie comes.

No, it would not have made more since. And I will explain why.
Kristen fought to get the JJ role, it was massively important to her to land this role. And she got it long before Twilight became a hit and Eclipse got greenlit.
She felt that it was highly important to make her portrayal as authentic as possible, therefore she cut her hair.
But her hair is growing back now and looking lovely.
I am a huge Twilight fan, the same as everyone else on here, but not everything revolves around Twilight.
There are other roles that these actors feel are more important.
The wig in Eclipse, based on clips that I have seen, doesn't look the greatest, but hopefully DS will make it look good.

I am sorry but I have to post my honest opinion. Everytime I see her in the Joan Jett hair I get angry. I am also never going to see this movie. And yes her hair in this movie looks like a wig anyways, she just endagered Bella's character for nothing. I really don't understand that.
I have started to like her ever since her new interviews, but I'm not a fan. And everytime I remember this fiasco I get disappointed in her, because I know how precarious Bella's look will be in Eclipse, it will either be a hit or a miss.
I know one thing, I am not looking forward to Eclipse as much because of all those things that seem to be working against that movie.
And yes Kristen annoyed me a lot with her behavior, but hopefully everything will look good for Eclipse. You don't just endager a great and popular character, just because you feel strongly about another role which you signed on to after Twilight (how unprofessional). Her first loyalty/responsibility should have been to the Twilight saga, because she signed onto it first. And I still can't believe that the studio let her do that to her hair, so she's not the only one to blame.
Anyways let's hope that Eclipse will turn out good despite all those odds…

I wont judge until i see it in the movie. But it was obvious in NM too…cos her wig was dark brown and her hair was a reddish brown on top of it.

I will admit that if her hair looks like shiz in Eclipse I will be PISSED but not at Kristen, at whoever does the wigs… I think this is a pretty important thing to get right (IMO) and they will really be dropping the ball if they mess it up. But go Kristen for cutting her hair, although I'm still on the fence about the mullet she can do whatever she wants with her hair!

I forgot about the 1 with Renee. That was another one from a distance though. Sometime these photos look pretty rubbish but it doesn't look so bad on film. There's always the hope it'll look better than these few photos would have us believe. Especially pap photos.
It's just crazy that the criticism is aimed at HER personally. She had to do something for a role and many actors have done it too. The people who have had a go at her when she had the mullet are out of order. Sometimes the photos where before she was filming Eclipse and had her hair scraped back in a messy way.
As JJ she looks stunning. Maybe growing up in the 80's has left me immune to the horror of mullets!!

Kristen gets a haircut and has to wear a wig for her next role, as many actors have had to do. Does she get respect for her dedication to the role and her willingness to make a sacrifice to do justice to a really important role for someone her age? No, she's judged in the most superficial terms.
Really, she's going to show the world what a great actress she is and Twilight isn't going to last forever. She has the rest of her career to consider.
It's just hair. It's not a life or death matter.

I don't think Kristen wearing a wig is the real problem here. I think it's the fact that in the majority of the released pictures, the wig is abominable. But, as usual, people over overreacting to very little evidence because they want this film to be the very best it can be and because people do not like change.
Or at least that's how I feel… or used to feel. Now, it doesn't bother me. I survived the <sniffle> disintegration of the bouffant in NM, I can handle a bad wig. This'll just be another funny topic to discuss in the Eclipse commentary. In fact, if the movie's good, perhaps, perhaps people will ignore the fact that she has a wig on.

I agree with cara! It's freaking hair it grows back and if it doesn't SHE CAN afford a wig or Summit can! I love Twilight but she will have a career after that. What is she not suppose to do anything else besides that?
I could not care less. Some people are getting way too freaked out on a very limited amount of evidence. I didn't care that she wore some extra fake hair in Twilight and NM so a wig isn't going to ruin the movie. We should reserve judgment until we see some movie stills. Off camera the vamps look weird in make-up but it works for the cameras.
I'm way more concerned with important issues like the screenplay, script, direction and performances. Wigs-pah! They have given us some great laughs!

Can't stand his writing. Gave a wide range of his stuff a go because I like to try and read everything but I hated his stories and his style of writing.
Maybe it's a cultural thing because his writing is so American. I don't mean that as an insult, I just mean maybe there's something about it that doesn't appeal to the British taste so much. I don't know many Scottish folk who have read his stuff so I can't say.
I have some diverse tastes but I could never take to any of his work.

I admire her for putting herself in the firing line for the sake of a role that means a lot to her but this hair issue has gone too far. Actors have to change their appearances often and male actors get admiration and respect for it but female ones get laughed at or criticised.

to Jim Sturge- he is making a movie The way back with Ed Harris. Ed Harris made a movie 'Third miracle' with Agnieszka Holland. Agnieszka Holland is one of my fave polish director, she is one of our 'grand' directors alongside Roman Polański, Krzysztof Kieśliowski, Andrzej Wajda. I HIGHLY recommend 'Europa, Europa'. Great war movie, touching down on holocaust.

I know I get fired up about this, but I seriously do not GET why people are being so hurtful and blaming Kristen and not understanding why she chose to cut her hair.

Don´t be…there is life outside the twilight saga…if you know what I mean….some followers of the saga will dissapear as soon as BD is on the screen…other people will follow the careers of the leading roles and some not leading roles that they felt connected to…but as soon as there won´t be the same movies or styles they´ll dissapear…and others will hold on to that inner thing or characteristic that attracted them to the actors in the first place and will go on with them enjoying and why not? not enjoying some of the things they do…
But as a matter of being an actor, all the possibilities are open for wathever character they consider interesting no matter what….and as i said before there is life outside the twilight saga…they will have to make their way to become what they still have to become….

a wig is not going to make or break the movie… if my biggest problem with eclipse is the wig then i'll be happy, cause that means DS did an amasing job along with the rest of the cast and crew.

I think in a way, because we know how Kristen doesn't care what others think, she did this to see reactions. But she also did it to teach people lessons. I think she is trying to show people that you can cut your hair off and do this JJ shizzle and still be Bella.
She's also showing that she is a serious actress and that she is serious about what she does.
People hate her for changing herself, i think shes developing and i admire her so much more then i used to for what she has done. It makes me look at myself and how i have to run with the crowd in a whole new light, now i don't give to bananas and do what ever i want to do. Shes a true inspiration.
But you see thats just my opinion, and i respect others. But if you can't see why she did this and how good and amazing she is for doing this, and you only see that she looks “hideous” – in your eyes only, because in mine she looks beautiful – then your as shallow as the next barbie doll.

It shouldn't be that long for an Eclipse trailer or stills to be out and about as well. Maybe a few more weeks or so.
We might get a Eclipse trailer with the premiere of another Summit movie. they are waiting till the box office income drops a little. NM is still very high on list.
i'm thinking that eclipse trailer won't be out til NM is out of theatres…. so what's that… like, after New Year's maybe (i really have no clue…)????

And those are the reasons why I love her so and also why I can separate being mad at her personally for the role of the wig in Eclipse. You know what I mean? Its just in a ideal perfect world The Runaways would have been made after the Saga was complete. But alas thats not what happened. I love that she was dedicated enough to cut her hair off… JJ has been an idol of mine since HS, she was probably my first ever girl crush, haha and I'm dying to see The Runaways and Kristen portraying her.

Um no I'm sorry but Kristen and the studio are the ones who made it a fiasco. And I didn't say that her first loyalty should be for the Twilight saga because I love it and care about it much more than this stupid movie, but because she signed onto the Twilight saga FIRST! So it is her duty to be responsible for what she signed onto first, FIRST!
Her hair in this movie looks like a wig anyways. And still if she weren't the lead in Twilight and she had chopped her hair like this, then no problem I wouldn't even care. But she is one of the LEADS. And it is because of Twilight that she even became well known and that she is able to get more roles much more easily (that's fact, she said it in one of the interviews, that now it's easier for her to get roles), and yet this is how she showed her gratitude. Why should the Twilight fans have to settle for less? When she signed onto Twilight first, and it is probably what made it easier for her to get this role.
And yes actors altering their appearance for a role is commendable but NOT when they are already signed onto another role FIRST, and they go and jeapardize that role, because they selfishly like one role more than the other.
I'm sorry but this is my opinion, and I won't be sitting here finding excuses for her and the studio, when what happened was completely irrisponsible on both their parts.
I understand that some of you love her no matter what, but if you looked at this objectively you will see that what I say is true.
Anyways if you are looking forward to this movie more power to you. As for me, I have no interest whatsoever.

Well there was an article over at Twifans, predicting the Eclipse trailer. Someone said that the New Moon one came out 179 days before showings, it's around 199 days till Eclipse… so yeh probably after New Years.
It's feels so far away but it's so soon if you think about it! I can't wait.

First of all Kristen tried a wig for the Runaways. So it wasn't like she jumped on it as fast as she could to show her priorities. Second by the nature of the material she has a lot of scenes where she actually has to perform ( headbanging and beads of sweat droping from her forehead) and also a lot of scenes where she is in the LA sun and clad in leather. It is not a pleasure to have waist-long hair hidden underneath a shorter wig.

I never have a huge problem with hair. Kristen's cut doesn't bother me, it actually looks really good when styled. But I have to admit, my heart was broken when Rob cut his hair off that one time.
