I am pissed off that polish cinema doesnt get recognition. I attended a 'Dom zly' screening the other night. I have a difficulty with translating the title because of its a biological nomenclature allusion. there is a distinction between a genus, type name which would be dom -house and a species name that would be zly -evil here. its like latin names for animals example Loxodonta africana which is the african elephant. polish language has strong latin roots. the official english title is 'the dark house', it implies the mood but is missing the grotesque of this movie. Anyway this is such a powerful story with the best of the best polish actors. People say it's the polish Fargo. and shot in a very dramatically visual way… the last shot is literally taken out of a Peter Bruegel winter scenery.
As far as american movies go… I will give Avatar a try. And Parnassus. Am curious about the Lovely Bones…
But will still have to wait for the good ones(like Precious) past oscar season. polish distributors buy movies past oscar season. cause oscars spark interest. thats the logic.

Avatar is apparently a spectacular film, really going beyond what anyone has done before in the cinema so I think I'll see it because of that, rather than because of the story, which is why I usually see films.
Precious is supposed to be one of those films that aren't as bad as I think it's going to be. All the violence is apparently not shown because she goes into this safe place in her head. I was really afraid it would be 2 hours of watching this young girl get beaten up, emotionally and physically but it's not. So, that's definitely on my list as well.
The Lovely Bones just never interested me as a story. Oooh, I definitely want to see Parnassus as well. Wow, that film is going to be phenomenal.

Kristen is still young. She's not her best yet. There are parts in nm when I roll my eyes and wait for her to be amazing again (“they're not wolves. They're… bears” lol). But I think she might be doing something new to the art-form of acting that people don't understand yet.
She's kind of like a Hitchcock film, like Rear Window or Vertigo. You can't watch her with a lazy eye. You have to really pay attention to see how masterful she is. And she's not going to give her all in each scene; it seems that she acts and reacts in levels.
A lot of acting is performance or a second-hand stale interpretation of the director's and writer's character. What she's doing is not that at all. She's living these parts, which will have a different effect on a viewer who does not pay attention because she's a lot more subtle.
That's what I think anyway.
I found her cute in that scene…I think some where supposed to bring some laughs,so it was purposely done that way…My dad laughs at me too when I come in running all excited…

Lisbeth set her dad on fire when she was a kid. She is a severe feminist who just likes to fck both genres. She was in a nuthouse so after they released her she had to have a guardian. Of course her guardian is an abusive pig. But after he went all Polanski on her she immobilized him, stuck a dildo up his azz, gave him a few punches, showed him the stuff she recorded and tattooed something along the lines “I am a filthy pig and a rapist” on his stomach. She is monitoring Blomkvists pc for the company who hired her as a professional hacker. She helps Blomkvist with a riddle . Of course the Bible is the clue (go figure), the movie revolves around religious fanaticism to the point where father and son(who are both nazis) rape and murder young jewish women.
But the actress that plays Lisbeth was horrible…
Huh. Compelling. And that's all I'll say about that. What about Blomkvist? What was he like? Is it literally another truth-seeking George Clooney role?
Hahah. And they were considering hiring the Swedish actress again for the American role, right?
Blomkvist…. it is a truth-seeking role. But i dont know he was just…there. maybe cause the actor was bland? he goes for runs, looks through some archives, gets beaten-up quite often…and Lisbeth rode him like a cowgirl…
