Taylor Lautner was listed as #4 on MTV News’ Man of The Year.
Sure enough, his casting proved to be the right move, as “New Moon” not only broke the midnight screening record previously held by “Harry Potter,” but also went on to become the third-highest opening weekend on record. So convincing was his portrayal of Jacob, in fact, that some Twilighters thought he deserved an Oscar nomination. Now, with “Eclipse” set for release next year, and the possible two-movie split of “Breaking Dawn” on the horizon, Taylor’s future only looks brighter.
Some of you might be thinking: It was a great year for the “Twilight” stars, but how could Taylor finish higher in our rankings than Kristen or Rob? Well, for starters, his stock had a further journey to soar, and soar it did. Now he’s a household name who recently achieved the honor of hosting “Saturday Night Live,” the first “Twilight” star to do so. He spent the night making us laugh and partying into the wee hours, and now Hollywood seems on the verge of giving the muscle-bound rising star his own franchise. I think Taylor did great with New Moon, but in my humble opinion when I think of “Man of the Year,” it's the whole year. Rob has been the talk, the gossip, been hounded, went to Cannes, had the almost kiss with Kristen at the MTV awards, which upped their ratings by a mile, filmed Remember Me and it was like the Beatles were in New York. Not to mention all the magazines covers about Rob and Kristen. Taylor was able to walk out on the streets and not get molested during the first half of the year. Now, come November and the premiere of New Moon, Taylor's stock skyrocketed. I just think Rob and Kristen were the talk of the whole year until New Moon came out. Anyway, not taking anything away from Taylor, he was the male lead in New Moon, I just think Rob should have been number 1 in that pole, Kristen 2 and Taylor 3. Kanye west should be on a pole that said, Dumbest Move of the Year, and he'd be smack dab at the top of that list.
Oh goodness. Taylor was outranked because of the sheer media blitz on him. Summit promoted Taylor like no one's business because New Moon was HIS time to shine. Rob was barely in the movie. Taylor practically killed himself to get his role back. Rob was already a shoe in so didn't have to really worry. While Rob was already Edward in everyone's eyes, Taylor had to really own his character and become the guy that 90% of the franchise was against lol Taylor was phenomenal and DESERVES to be in the position he's in.
Next year, Rob….there's always next year =)

Good point. Not only did Taylor had to convince everyone he could be Jacob. But he was also playing the character many didn't understand nor wanted to. So, I thought he conducted himself very well.

Ehhh….even then I'm a little iffy lol I feel like Taylor had more of a burden. Twilight was Kristen and Rob's time to really prove themselves and they really put themselves on the map. They should've been on the list for 2008.
Taylor kinda had an advantage. Anything New Moon related, u saw Taylor's face….and/or body lol that boy WORKED. Besides the fans and papz mauling Robsten, I think they had it easier. Taylor really had to earn his spot and he did. I firmly stand by my “Taylor deserves to be higher than Rob” position. And not because I love taylor more than rob (cuz I'm all for Chaske lol). MR is a master in giving good actors bad lines. I want to hurt her sfm. I know that she is limited by the book but still…she has no balls and creativity.

I think Taylor deserves to be on the list with Rob & Kristen because he has major potential to be a mega-star in the coming year. He's proven himself to be a worthy actor and I think he will be possibly #1 next year.
Even though I am a TEAM EDWARD fan in the more personal level I think Taylor has done a great job.
It has been harder for him to accomplish what he has. He had to work like crazy to be able to stay in the Twilight Saga, and his acting was awesome! He took the lead role as Jacob and I dont think anyone could have been better than him.
If you think about it Twilight is composed of a lot of young good actors… the ones that will be the “big ones” when our kids are our age…
