Will the New Moon Soundtrack make it to the Oscars? Let’s all cross our fingers and hope it will happen. The members from the Academy Awards committee have unveiled the candidates for the prestigious award.
On Jan. 12, the Academy will screen clips featuring each song, in random order, for voting members of the music branch in Los Angeles. Following the screenings, members will determine the nominees by an averaged point system vote. If no song receives an average score of 8.25 or more, there will be no nominees in the category. If only one song achieves that score, it and the song receiving the next highest score shall be the two nominees. If two or more songs (up to five) achieve that score, they shall be the nominees.
“Possibility” by Lykke Li is on the New Moon soundtrack and is among the list of candidates. “Possibility” is the song that is played when Bella enters her zombie-like state following the winter months in which Edward and the Cullens have left the town of Forks. The song is a huge fan favorite(mine as well.)
So it is quite a process but I think we can pull this one off, after all our beloved saga has been nothing but amazing thus far. The selections will take place on January 12Th but the Oscar nominations aren’t announced until Feb. 2nd. Click here for the entire list of candidates.

I absolutely love the song “Possibility”. It speaks to me, and it is truly a musical statement of the pain Bella is in when Edward leaves. The lurching backbeat, the haunting vocals, the lyrics describing the uttererly devastated mess he left her in… .
This song hit the nail on the head and pierced right through the heart of New Moon. EPIC WIN. “POSSIBILITY” FOR THE OSCARS.
I love this song, it fits well with the scene … really emotional songs … I mean even after watching the movies many times … everytime I watch this scene & the song, my eyes always end up with tears lol and listening to Bella screamed because the nightmares, gave me chills … she did very good job …

That'll be great. All the songs on New Moon Soundtrack were well thought out and held meaning. Satellite Heart, Possibility, and Violet Hour were my top 3.

Possibility is an incredible song. I was disappointed to see that Hana Pestle's Need didn't make it to the soundtrack, but Possibility works so well after the breakup scene.

What I want to know is why only one song was nominated from NM, yet the Hannah Montana movie received 5 nominations. There's no way any of the HM songs are better than the NM songs.
