This is new... I read in another article that the cast had signed only for the 3 books as Stephenie had not yet started / completed the BD book...

So if the cast has pre-signed for 4 movies, than the BD movie is a reality finally. The remaining issue is to agree on the fat salaries in order to make BD in 2 movies...

Hell, we have 7 months for Eclipse, at least a year to a year and a half for BD1, then another half year at least for BD2... ok, by then maybe Stephenie has written the 5th book about a new adventure maybe between Jacob and Nessie, than we have another year to see that one on screen (hope does die last)... how long does this add up to?

I dont really want two movies i would rather see one 3 hour movie and cut out all the jacob seth leah boringness, but if chris weitz directs them then i dont care bc at least we know they will be great movies that captures the book!

1st of all, the screenwriter is the one who determines book-to-movie paralel...not so much the director. So stop giving CW that credit. He dud a beautiful movie both with cgi & visually but I totally missed the intense connection between Bella and Edward. The end was a catastrophe as far as I'm concerned. One thing Catherine hardwick got right was the chemestry between Edward & Bella ANC she showcased the romance before anything else. CW dropped the ball there folks. Even though Edward & Bella were only at the beginning and the end actually together, something in those moments was lost! I say who cares about special effects of we lose romance!!! And we've yet to see what Slade will bring so before we bring him on board, let's see Eclipse. I miss Catherine hardwick and think with the emnense budget, she'd have made a better movie. After seeing it 4 times though, it's growing in me:-)

i hate to break it to you but it has already been reported that eclipse will lack romance to make up for more war.. i dont think fans are going to happy about this, so thats why i think there is security for us fans to see the true essence of the book with CW as director.

Actually, CW wrote back in more scenes to New Moon that MR left out. Like the movie scene, Jacob climbing into Bella's room, the proposal, and the Carlisle/Bella talk. You saying that CW dropped the ball there is your opinion, just like we think otherwise. Most people think CH dropped the ball with Twilight. I believe there's no justification in spider monkey's, waylen forge, green house field trips, wind chime sparkles, constipated Edward, hospital scene lines for Bella(or lack there of), and leaving out so many precious moments of E/B to add in all of that nonsense. I didn't feel E/B falling in love, I saw Edward protecting Bella and them all of a sudden in love. There wasn't really a process there. However, although I have all of this.. I still enjoy watching it, because I know the story behind it. It also is the reason I started reading the series.. because I knew that there was a great love story behind it trying to escape the bars of every scene.

While CW did rush the ending, I felt the rest of the movie was practically perfect. I felt every emotion that Bella did, I cried, laughed, got scared, and shocked all at the right moments.. and that's what has made me love New Moon. (Not to mention the better picture quality, costume, make up, CGI, adaptation, and acting...) Just my opinion though, I don't think CH could have made a better one.

my personal opinion is that cw did a beautiful movie but I am not a fan of the vampires make up. They looked fake to me. Their eyes never changed color(kinda a big deal) and the way rob portrayed Edward was not how I interpreted it from reading new moon. He was so happy when they returned from Italy and we rarely saw that. He was mostly in agony and that sucked! Bella was great in this movie. But like I said, I'd take the romance over cgi any day. Kudos to cw for a better script but I still hate the end. The epiphany scene? The horrid attempt was a joke. But it's ok because I just reread the end of new moon everytime I see it. That makes me happy:-) like I said, my opinions. And I respect yours:-) but I do NOT want CW for BD. And as far as DS... Let's see what he can deliver first. But so far CH would be my choice if I had to choose from the two.

I liked the spider monkey scene not because of the line, but because it was about the only scene that Bella smiled and laughed. It was the only scene that I felt that she was really happy with Edward. I mean when you are in love for the first time you can't stop smiling. I know it was intense, because of the whole vampire thing , but I would have smiled more. CH really wanted to make the scenes with Edward and Bella more intense, but SM said no. SM wanted it to be more G rated or PG rated. CH saw the connection between Kristen and Rob and wanted to show it more on screen, but SM said no. I mean you all read the books you know how old fashioned SM is, Bella with no cell phone, and old dial-up computer, a old camera where you have to get the pictures developed. You see in the movies where MR made it more modern, but she left a lot of scenes out of the books that we wanted. BD was my favorite book, but I think that since they have made a lot of money on the other movies so far they should make it a 3 hour movie like they did Lord Of The Rings instead of two movies. The movie theater that I went to had it palying in three different theaters at the same time, so they still can make a lot of money if it was longer than two hours. Also they will have to leave out the parts where Jacob is talking to the wolf pack when he is a wolf, Because that might come out to cheesy, That will limit the scenes in the book that takes up a great amount of time. I second that. i saw the movie first (did not know there was a book) and while i did like the movie when i read the book, i could not believe all the inportant scenes from the book that were left out. And you re right one minute he is her protector than they are in love. the only scene i liked more than the book was when the cullens walked into the cafeteria, then her future husband edward walks in. there probably were also two more scenes i liked better than in the book

I was thinking today: Really BD can become a very cheesy movie if it isn't done right..
I don't have ANY knowledge of movie making whatsoever, so I don't know what to do to not make it cheesy.. but if they make it into one movie (which I highly doubt because if NM was already rushy at the end what about BD with only one hour extra while the book is like a ton thicker!) they really, really need to have the truly important things, even if they seem like details at first but they have a significance at the end..
Please don't hate me, it just crossed my mind this afternoon and since I LOOOOOOVEE all of the books and that includes BD, I really want it to be made well and not get people bashing it :)

I agree with you! I know some people are opposed to 2 movies, and I would really be upset if they make us wait a year or so between the 2 films, but there is SO much to cover that I'd be really disappointed if they squeezed it into a 2 hour film.

1st one should end when Nessie was born, Bella turned to vampire. Bella & Edward are happy, Jake is also happy because of Nessie.

2nd BD should start when Irina came and ruined the fun. And I know it doesnt happen in the book, but I hope when all the vampires came to witness and the volturi members came to fork ... please put some actions just for the sake to fill the minutes of the 2nd movie at least. Just enough to entertaint us until Alice & Jasper came to solve the problem. Nobody should die.

I agree that it should be split, but I think it should be split differently:

Book 1 & 2 should be the 1st movie.... You need to start a movie out very happy then build to conflict, then resolve. And if there is a sequel, a cliff hanger is awesome! Picture this:

Bella and Edward get married, go to Isle Esme (feathers & broken headboard!!) then rush home when they realize she is pregnant. The wolves have their split, Jacob and his renegade pack go to protect the Cullens, and all the attention shifts to whether Bella will survive the delivery. Renesme is born, you see the struggle to keep her alive, Jacob losing hope as her heart beat fades away. He goes downstairs ready to kill the creature and when he lays eyes on Renesmee everything changes(cue emotional music). He can't stop staring at her with complete adoration, then you hear a loud heartbeat coming from upstairs... End credits!

Book 3 will be the 2nd movie.... It should open with Bella burning. I really hope they keep that in there. It can be blurry images of the delivery and what's going on now while Bella's thoughts narrate what she is feeling. Then she wakes up as a beautiful immortal. You have the happy beginning where her life, er - existence, is perfect. Imprinting explained (hope DS set it up in Eclipse) between J/R, pack dispute solved, everything is great. Irena sees Renesmee from a distance, conflict begins. You get your action while Bella is training for the battle that never happens. Sorry, you don't fight the Volturi and live to talk about it - SM said so herself.

We just need CW in control again and he will stick to the book and make it happen. Come on CW - WE NEED YOU!!!

My only disappointment is it seems MR will be the screen writer for BD, why oh why Summit? its such a complicated book and she is not ready for all that. It has to be tweaked with action. Though I might die of impatience I really think they should do Breaking Dawn in two parts, cause cutting half of the book isn't an option!

I think they might make the split at the moment of birth, cause they like to leave some suspension, and there Bella has 2 choices - die or become a vampire! So they'll have the BD1- Marriage, Esme's Isle, Disturbing pregnancy, Jake's becoming Alpha... and the BD2- Bella the Vampire, Renesmée+Jake, witness gathering+ Bella's powers, the almost fight & Happily every after :))
That really makes two full movies with enough emotion and action in each!

I understand waiting for eclipse to select a director, but at the same time the actors are getting older and I for one don't want it dragged out like Harry Potter.

That's true about actors, Mike REALLLY changed between Twilight and NM, others don't seem to have changed that much. If the werewolves grow older it will be even better, cause they're supposed to look like 25...

I still maintain that their two biggest issues in adapting Breaking Dawn is not whether to split it or getting Weitz on board.

The two biggest issues to me are how to present imprinting without it coming off as a glorification of pedophelia. If they choose to include it, and I don't recall it being mentioned at all in New Moon, then how do they sell it without it becoming a PR nightmare. If they don't include it, how do you explain Jacob still hanging around after Bella is turned?

Second issue is how to make the movie(s) interesting and entertaining for a movie audience when you have half the book building to a battle that never happens. They could add some action, but could they do it without re-writing the entire ending to make it an epic battle. How angry will the purest fans be and how do you make it and still be PG13?

This is where not being able to include all of the dialogue from a book to movie adaptation is a good thing. I think that because we will lose so much dialogue, and so much of Bella's thoughts about imprinting during the movie making process... it can be saved. I personally, have no problem with it but also understand how others have.

If they can spin it and make imprinting seem more like a guardian then it won't seem so bad. There have been stories where young girls have a perfectly chose guardian that stay with them they're whole life and then eventually fall madly in love with. This isn't the best example because I can't remember what it's called, but I swear it exist. lol Anyways, so if they can show imprinting in the light of Guardian and then love, less people will find it offensive.

However, there will always be those overly analytical people who will criticise it like there is no tomorrow.

Issue 1 - If you remember, imprinting isn't really mentioned until Eclipse, so we'll have to wait until June to see if DS set that up properly. In NM, you just know that Sam and Emily are deeply in love - not that it's some freaky werewolf thing between them. And I don't know how they are going to portray it, but it is absolutely necessary. You have the wolf pack split and after Renesmee is born the imprinting brings everyone back together. I've talked to other fans who don't like BD b/c of the J/R imprinting, but I totally get it. Especially if DS explains Quil & (Edit) Claire. I was really out of it and wrote Quil & Embry!

There CANNOT be a battle at the end. The whole basis behind BD is the strategy and mind game that is played. There is no way they can fight the Volturi without being slaughtered. You want action, Summit? Show Bella training to fight with the other vamps. I know it seems like a build up to nothing, but if they show Bella's power right then the non-book fans of the movies will understand it. And I've said it a hundred times - there is absolutely no challenge in keeping it PG 13 - R movies are really hard core these days.

Please PG-13 is now a days like a soft rated R, and just as long as certain body parts are not shown, I can't see why we can't have a honeymoon scene. They are married after all.

i was thinking about that too. but there are going to be movie goers, a few maybe, i don't know who probably never saw eclipse. so they would probably somehow have to reintroduce the imprinting in breaking dawn. unfortunately no matter how it's introduced there are those who will still see Jacob that way. right now there are few fans who have a problem with it and look at jacob that way. but yes we should wait for eclipse.

there is nothing sexual about the imprinting, except, maybe between Sam and Emily. even the way it kills Sam to have hurt Leah shows its not a sexual thing. The way Jared (?) looks at kim, its idolisation not sexual.... these guys have found someone to idolise, not someone they wanna "do".
Its all about the handling of the presentation, and MR scares me a bit in relation to it.........

I think that if they approached imprinting the way it's explained in the book " love at first sight but more powerful" or "he's going to be whatever she needs him to be- uncle, friend, lover" there would be no misunderstanding! That's very clear in the book, they're like soulmates I don't see anything sexual about it! I believe only smallminded people or those who need something to critisize or hate will see it as such!

Jacob explained to Bella, the Quil/Claire thingie is more protecting than anything else, and the way you read Jake/Nessie there is nothing eeky there, actually it's quite cute.

I totally understand imprinting, and I don't see it as glorification of child abuse. However, seeing all the debate that these books and movies are stirring up.....is Bella a doormat, is Edward a stalker/possessive/control freak/etc, is Jacob an abuser (from the forced kiss), is this pushing feminism back a 100 years, etc......I can see how people will pounce on imprinting as pedophilia, no matter how well it's explained in the movie.

The issue is can it be explained well enough in the film, without seeming spoon fed and redundant, but well enough to counteract most of the flack that will be kicked up regardless. It's a conundrum.

Its really a mute point, Non fans will bash the Saga no matter what, The only people with that mind set are Twi haters, not fans. It doesn't matter what the story line is, they will hate just to hate, but Im not worried, there are many many fans, so its not that we need there blessings or understanding.

Thats why a talented screen writer is needed. A screen writer who just wont throw together something with no action and no mature nature because she has it in her head the Saga is for Tweens only. A screen writer that doesnt add things the fans could care less about. Again a VERY talented screen writer is needed so the impriting comes across right, like a "protector" type of thing with Jacob and Nessie, not a sexual thing, which its not. As far as this "pedophilia " statement, Im not even going there.

Regardless BD wont be for everyone, thats a fact, everyone wont be happy, especially non fans, but The Saga has such a following, we don't need them. Keep us the real fans happy all will be good LOL

Yeah, very true, but it appears we are stuck with Melissa. And not to say that I could do a better job, because screenwriting is difficult especially with an adaptation. But her writing just surprises me and not in a good way. I guess I just expected much more from an executive producer and writer on Dexter.

If they don't have a contract option with Melissa for this already, they could hire anyone they want, but it's the PR that would be an issue. As we've seen with the Rachelle incident, they're not really good at handling replacements. ;-)

I completely agree! She left out so much and put in crap that didnt belong at all. I really just want a copy of a CW version of Twilight (with bloodtyping and a real meadow). That's the one thing that is confirmed. The actors are all signed on for a 4th film, they just don't have a confirmed director yet and are trying to negotiate the making of a 5th.

So, if you are just waiting for a confirmation that it will be made, you can breathe now! LOL

I don't know if I can stand the suspense of waiting for the second Breaking Dawn to come to theaters - MONTHS inbetween BD 1 and BD 2.

Maybe they should a 3 hour Breaking Dawn. I would not mind sitting through it. They can even put in a 5 minute intermission!

I've been thinking that for a long time now.

I honestly think they're keeping it 90 min. so they can (just speculating here) have more times the movie can be played. Theaters can play 2 90 min. movies in the time it takes for 1, and get twice the people.

I would love a 3 hour movie though. I watched LOTR extended and was just fine. That was like, 4 hours of my life... gone. lol

it would be so much better as two movies and i really wish that if they did CW would be able to do both. or maybe even DS, but we haven't gotten a chance to see how DS directed eclipse

I wouldn't mind Weitz/Slade tag team to tell you the truth, like I said look at Chris Weitz did with New Moon, a beautiful movie, I felt like what I was seeing in my head was visualized on to the screen and I see the same with Breaking Dawn with Weitz to seal the deal, and I'm not worried about MR anymore, the cast is very protective of the story, she won't be allowed to screw it up. I'm really not surprised that Summit is keeping MR - she has been the constant between the 1st 3 movies and they are misguidedly giving her the credit, rather than the huge fan base (and CW for making NM so great we want to see it over and over again!).

It didn't sound like they were planning to have 2 different directors and I think b/c it will be a part 1 & 2 of the same book, they want the continuity there. If they did CW & DS I would definitely want CW for part 1 to get the wedding and Isle Esme perfect, but can you imagine DS for part 2? He would probably change the ending so that he can have his action and have the Cullens and company take out the Volturi - yeah right! You can't change the ending.

I just hope CW will sign on. I know it's a lot to ask of a director, but it will be rewarding for him in the end.

I'm SO incredibly excited to hear that Summit wants C.W. back again. Breaking Dawn will be filmed all at once, & simply split it into 2 at a later stage, so of course it will be just him.Fingers crossed that he returns. I should have known I would have been attacked for that one - LOL! Sorry, let me clarify. I have nothing against DS, but from what I can see he's all about the action, which is great for Eclipse. Personally, I don't think Stephenie's work needs any improvement. I don't want action added that doesn't fit. After hearing all the cast's comments about directors, they all love CW, stating he sticks close to the books - and that's what is important to me.

Aside from all that, in the article it really seemed like they want one director for both films and I just hope it's Chris.

BTW - Eclipse is my favorite book, so I'm really excited to see how Slade brings it to life.

Twilight & New Moon have both made so much money, and will continue to make money with DVDs for both, that I don't understand the money issue. Of course the actors should receive FAT checks, especially Rob, Kristen, & Taylor. That goes without saying. Summit and Stephenie are both making tons of money from the marketing of these actors, so the actors, themselves, should be making money as well! Come on Summit pay CW, Rob, Kristen, and Taylor and make the offer to make two movies more appealing to everyone.

Im anxious to see how long Eclipse is. A lot more happens than in NM and that was over 2 hours! There is no possible way BD could be one movie! Summit has to realize that the success from NM because it followed the book! If BD is one movie they would have to take so much out!
