Chapter 21: Phone Call

 “ My decision was made. It did no good to waste time agonizing over the outcome. I had to think clearly, because Alice and Jasper were waiting for me, and evading them as absolutely essential, and absolutely impossible.”

We are down to the last few chapters! Things are beginning to heat up now. Let’s rejoin Alice, Jasper, and Bella in the hotel room.

•  Pg. 423-425  I could feel it was too early again when I woke, and I knew I was getting the schedule of my days and nights slowly reversed. I rolled till my feet touched the floor and then staggered to the living room. The clock on the TV said it was just after two in the morning. Alice and Jasper were sitting together on the sofa, Alice sketching again while Jasper looked over her shoulder. I crept to Jasper’s side to peek. “The phone goes there,” I whispered, pointing. Chapter 20: Impatience

 “I was thinking about something Edward had said, about the red-haired female at Charlie’s house, at the school, where my records would be.”

Wow 20 chapters down already!  So the hunt is on! The Cullens and the Hales are on a mission…kill James and keep Bella and Charlie alive. Alice and Jasper have taken Bella to a Phoenix hotel at the airport to keep her safe. A ton of time has passed and Bella awakens in a hotel room with a pretty cloudy memory.

• Pg. 407-409 I had no memory of this room. I looked at the digital clock on the nightstand. The red numbers claimed it was three o’clock, but they gave no indication if it was night or day. No edge of light escaped the thick curtains, but the room was bright with the light from the lamps. I rose stiffly and staggered to the windows, pulling back the drapes. It was dark outside. Three in the morning, then. I looked down at myself. I was still wearing Esme’s clothes, and they didn’t fit very well at all. I was on my way to find new clothes when a light tap on the door made me jump. “Can I come in?” Alice asked. “Sure.” “You look like you could sleep longer.” “We’ll need to stay inside,” she told me. “Okay.” My voice was hoarse; it cracked. “Thirsty?” she asked. “I’m okay. Chapter 19: Goodbyes

 “My plan suddenly didn’t feel so brilliant anymore. I was staring back at Alice’s headlights when the truck shuddered and a dark shadow sprung up outside the window. My bloodcurdling scream lasted a fraction of a second before Edward’s hand clamped down on my mouth”

So, it’s pure pandemonium at the Cullen compound right now, and the you-know-what is about to hit the fan over at the Swan residence. The plan is in motion. Bella is to get in, get some clothes, say goodbye to Charlie and get out all in fifteen minutes. Good luck, Bells.

•  Pg. 390-392 Charlie was waiting up for me. All the house lights were on. My mind was blank as I tried to think of away to make him let me go. This wasn’t going to be pleasant.  “He’s not here,” Edward said tensely. “Let’s go.” Emmett reached over to help get me out of the harness. “Don’t worry, Bella,” he said in a low but cheerful voice, “we’ll take care of things here quickly.” I felt moisture filling up my eyes as I looked at Emmett. I barely knew him, and yet, somehow, not knowing when I would see him again after tonight was anguishing. “Alice, Emmett.” Edward’s voice was a command. They slithered soundlessly into the darkness, instantly disappearing. “Fifteen minutes,” he warned under his breath. “I can do this.” I stopped on the porch and took hold of his face in my hands.
