Anna Kendrick (aka Jessica Stanley) is causing buzz lately as the scene stealing Jessica in New Moon to Oscar talk for her role in Up in the Air with George Clooney.  Anna talks with Blackbook about stardom and Robert Pattinson.

Do you think your supporting role in Twilight can result in backlash from fans of more serious fare?
I understand a certain amount of backlash to something that’s really popular. I think particularly this being popular with young women, it takes a certain amount of flack. I mean, I can tell you a lot of the actors in Twilight are incredibly talented. It might be something that’s driven toward young females, but it has no bearing on anybody’s acting chops.

003There’s a picture online of Robert Pattinson kissing you. Do people tease you about that?
I have seen fans comment on places that post them, but no one in person has ever said anything but nice things to me about being in Twilight. The fans, when you are removed from them and they’re on the internet, can seem a little scary and overwhelming. Even at the premiere, which was loud and massive and crazy, once you got up to the fans to start signing stuff, they were really warm and respectful.

Is that part of your job a source of anxiety?
Premieres are always interesting. Every time I sort of convince myself that it’s going to be fun, I get a little nervous right beforehand even though it’s coming from a good place. Having that much energy thrown at you is really intense and just a little jarring.

Can you even begin to fathom what Rob is going through?
Yeah, I went Comic-Con and I have never seen anything like it. For whatever reason Rob and Twilight kind of flipped the switch in people’s heads, and all they can do is scream. It is really intense but I kind of wanted to see what it was like for myself. I kind of needed to know first-hand because I’d seen these videos from the first Comic-Con they did. I just figured it was a once in a lifetime kind of thing, so I had to see for myself. And it was every bit as intense and terrifying as I thought it was going to be.

Erm, kissing?  If that’s a kiss from Rob, then YES please!!  I want one or two or three from Rob!  LOL!

Watch out for Anna.  I expect great things from this young actress in the future.

2170449Twilight Saga humans:  Anna Kendrick, Michael Welch, Justin Chon and Christian Serratos gave a superb interview where they talked about filming New Moon and working with Chris Weitz:

Unlike Twilight, which was shot in Portland, you shot New Moon in Vancouver. What was that like?

Justin: The weather’s actually been better here. Portland was very, very, very cold and rainy. It’s a little bit nicer here.

Anna: One of the freaky things about shooting New Moon in a different location than Portland was the re-creation of things, like the high school parking lot. It was like déjà vu because we were in a different country but they completely recreated the parking lot from the school we shot at before.

You also got a new director. What was it like working with Chris Weisz?

Michael: Chris was really great. Catherine [Hardwicke] was wonderful too, but they’re just totally different in terms of their style and their process. And I think that as a result, you’re going to end up with a film that just feels very different. I think that Chris made more of a conscious effort to have a visual cohesiveness in terms of how the film is going to look and feel with the vampires, the werewolves and the humans. Visually, it’s more stylistic. And as far as the way he likes to work on set, he’s just very calm and very clear-headed and intelligent. He knows what he wants and puts a lot into the preparation so by the time we get to the set it’s all sort of mapped out for us.

Christian: He’s really awesome. He’s very well-organized, well-spoken, fun and carefree – simultaneously. It’s incredible.

If you weren’t playing humans, which would you prefer to play: a vampire or a werewolf?

Anna: I would personally rather be a werewolf since they seem to get to have a lot more fun. The vampires are very cool, but they have to be very calm and collected all the time. The werewolves get to let loose a little bit more.

Michael: I’d much rather play a vampire. Being a vampire would be cool, I think, for the first 100 years or so. It’d be fun to be able to play because vampires are just too cool; they’re just sexy and interesting and complicated.

Christian: I’d play a wolf. I’d play Leah, ’cause she’s sassy.

In a new interview with MTV Anna Kendrick (aka Jessica Stanley) says that even though there may be a few changes here and there, New Moon is still faithful to the book -

“The things about playing one of the human characters and the non-supernatural characters in the ‘Twilight’ series is we have a lot more liberty to make it our own and change things,” Anna said. “People don’t have that attachment that they do to the myth — the world — Stephenie Meyer created in terms of the supernatural aspect.”

We’re having fun and we’re being faithful to the book but, a few changes,” Anna added. “But I hope that they’re fun.”

AnnaKendrickTIFFClose_article_story_mainIn an new interview with HitFix New Moon human Anna Kendrick talks about filming New Moon while filming her other movie Up In The Air. She also talks about New Moon director Chris Weitz, and  touches base on Breaking Dawn and whether or not she’ll be back if it is made into a movie  -

Q: OK, the ‘Twilight’ questions you knew were coming.  Did you shoot ‘Air’ after ‘New Moon’

[Actually] I went to shoot ‘New Moon’ while I was still shooting ‘Up in the Air.’ I had to run back and forth.

Q: Was that hard?

It’s funny because the characters are so different and I was wrapped up in Natalie world, but Jessica, the character that I play in the series, is such a silly girl it was almost like a little escape to go and just play and just monologue about nothing.  Basically, I would go up to Vancouver and shoot a scene where something was [already] written, but [director] Chris Weitz would tell me to keep talking because we had to do all of it in one take as a ‘walk and talk’ and have it feel the space. So, he’d just tell me to say random stuff and it was like stretching in the middle of doing a marathon.

Q: Do you know if you’ll be back for ‘Breaking Dawn’ if and when those movies happen?

It does feel like to us — when I say ‘us’ I assume people know I’m referring to the human characters — it feels like it’s probably coming to a close.  We appear in a dream sequence or one sequence in the book of of ‘Breaking Dawn’ so I don’t know if we’ll be back for it and we’re only signed up for three, because the three books were only out when we made the first film.  So, I don’t know that we will be involved in ‘Breaking Dawn,’ but it’s a really fun thing to go back to. Particularly when I go back for this short period of time it feels like I’m going back to summer camp and I’m seeing my friends from summer camp.

Q: You’ve dealt with three different directors this year.  Has that been refreshing? Have you enjoyed it?

I am trying to pit them all against each other. I’m trying to get Jason and Chris Weitz in a fight, (Laughs.)  No, it’s so fun it’s so interesting. I’m probably the luckiest girl on earth, let’s be honest.  It is really fun to work with everybody.

You can check out the rest of the interview here!
