Check out the Exclusive Sneak Peek from the New Moon commentary with director Chris Weitz! The video was provided to us from Comcast directly, and includes a part of the Rain Scene with Bella and Jacob!

Here are Exclusive deets for Comcast’s New Moon release -

Comcast will have The Twilight Saga: New Moon On Demand beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, March 20 – the same day as the DVD release but HOURS before most retailers are even open.   AND, only Comcast customers will be able to view never-before-seen commentary from director Chris Weitz on a number of favorite ‘New Moon’ scenes such as: Bella’s birthday party, Bella’s cliff dive, when Bella rescues Edward in Italy and when Bella first meets the Volturi.  Attached is a teaser clip from the exclusive director’s commentary for you to preview.  The clip is from a scene between Bella and Jacob.

When Twilight was first released on DVD last year, we made it available at 12:01 a.m. the same day it was released on DVD, which led to our biggest rental weekend as well as Twilight being the most rented movie On Demand of 2009.  We anticipate a big response from the same say as DVD release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon On Demand as well.  We’ll also have Twilight available on Showtime On Demand if people want to make a night out of it.

Sounds awesome! Especially for those who can’t make it to a midnight DVD release party, or do not have one in their area.

I do heart Chris Weitz — but i think the commentary is going to be a tad bit boring :( No offence CW! We were all just really looking forward to a Rob/Kristen/Taylor commentary session with you!!

[Thank you to Nicole from Comcast!]

Chris Weitz recently spoke to Collider where he discussed the New Moon DVD  and his next project…

Collider: Yes. How are you doing today, sir?

Chris Weitz: I’m very well thank you. How are you?

I’m doing very well actually. Thank you for giving me some time today.

Chris:  It’s my pleasure.

So have you been doing a lot of press today?

Chris:  Well you are the 5th on my list, so not so much that my brain has turned to Jell-o yet.

So I will jump on in. I let a lot of people know that I was going to be talking to you and when I say a lot of people I’m talking about Twilight fans.  So I was given a whole bunch of things to ask you, so here we go.

Chris:  Okay.

The first thing though is a lot of people wanted to know…you might not remember me at the junket for New Moon. I’m the one who followed you up in the elevator and sort of…I sort of talked to you about what to expect on the DVD.

Chris:  I remember we spoke, yes.

And you told me at that point that there was going to be about 10 minutes of deleted scenes and there was going to be a commentary with Kristin, Rob and Taylor.

Chris:  I know and they blew me off. (laughter) By the time it came to record the commentary, I think that they were so exhausted because they had done even more press than I had. And I recall….we did it in New York and they were either on their way there or, you know, getting ready for some fancy function that evening and it just wasn’t going to happen. And so even though I think it’s probably terribly disappointing it’s just me and editor talking about things, but actually I think we’re rather funny.

MTV News interviewed director Chris Weitz recently in honor of the New Moon DVD release on March 20.  Chris reveals five thing we didn’t know about New Moon.

Going for the Gold: In “Twilight,” RPattz and the rest of his vegetarian vampire cohorts have gold-colored eyes as a result of abstaining from consuming human blood. For “New Moon,” the vamps’ eyes were clearly more golden. Why’d Weitz have his actors switch to brighter contact lenses?

“It’s a more noticeable gold,” Weitz said. “I thought that in the first film they hadn’t popped quite enough and I wanted to have that sense of otherworldliness carry through more.”

The Silent Vampire: Actress Rachelle Lefevre was notoriously replaced in her role as the vampire Victoria following “New Moon,” with Bryce Dallas Howard taking over the part for “Eclipse.” In “New Moon,” Lefevre is seen but does not speak. Is there a connection between her lack of lines and what happened with the casting decision?

“It wasn’t so much that,” Weitz said. “There was a dialogue scene with her, and eventually that will show up whenever they release deleted scenes. It was one of those scenes that, when you look back at it, it’s kind of a surplus to the whole storytelling requirement of the movie. So there was no ill intent there. I wrote Rachelle and explained why that scene didn’t end up in the film, and in terms of filmmaking I can’t regret it, although I do regret it very much if it hurt Rachelle’s feelings.”

With the New Moon DVD & Blu-Ray being released on March 20th, IESB interviewed New Moon director Chris Weitz about his experience directing New Moon, working with the cast and most importantly…. why Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart or Taylor Lautner are not on the New Moon DVD commentary.

IESB: In doing the commentary for the New Moon DVD, was there anything that you realized you regretted having to cut, or did the final cut of the film meet all of your expectations?

Chris: I was very satisfied with the final cut of the film, personally. It was what I had set out to do.

IESB: Were there any specific parts of the film that you were most looking forward to talking about for the commentary?

BuzzSugar has an interview with New Moon director Chris Weitz.  With the New Moon DVD out in store March 21st, Chris discusses his favorite scene in New Moon, Rob & Kristen’s relationship and what he wished ended up on the cutting room floor.

There are lots of different editions of the New Moon DVD. Which bonus features are you particularly excited about? I’m excited that my voice will finally be heard! For me, the fun thing was doing the commentary with Peter Lambert, my editor, because it kind of re-created the atmosphere in the cutting room. Peter’s a really funny guy, and we were able to delve into not only the behind-the-scenes moments, but to explain why certain things were shot or cut together in certain ways. So that, for me, was the most fun. When you go back and watch it again, are there things you’d like to change if you could? I would like to never have shot Rob and Kristen running through the forest and Kristen’s just turned into a vampire. Because everybody always laughs and it makes me feel terrible. [Laughs] I would have shot it a different way so it wouldn’t get that response. But otherwise, I’m very happy with things.

You must get lots of questions abut Rob and Kristen. Do you laugh it off or are you totally sick of hearing about it? I’m somewhat clueless — when you’re the director, you’re kind of like the school principal. Nobody really tells you anything. You really have no idea what’s going on. I’m the last person who would know about this kinda stuff. I’m sure you could get more from reading the paper.

What was your favorite scene to shoot in New Moon? I’m very fond of the memories that a lot of the scenes invoke in me. My favorite scene is probably somewhere between the very last scene, and the cliffhanger that it’s left on, and the scenes in Italy. Just the experience shooting those scenes was so magnificent. We were in this beautiful hillside town in Tuscany, and going home to fresh-made pasta every night, and surrounded by thousands of fans of the series while we were shooting it. I know I’ll never experience anything like that ever again.

What’s your take on the rumors that Breaking Dawn will likely be two movies, possibly in 3D?
3D seems to be the new thing that everything has to be. I think the good thing about 3D is that it can lend tremendous depth to a picture, and really make it extraordinarily lush, visually. And also that it gets people to go out to the theater. Film directors want people to see things in the theater, on the big screen, at least the first time. So that’s a good thing. As for the book being broken up into two films, I think it’s a good idea. There’s so much material in the final book that I think it’s warranted.

How would you direct Breaking Dawn? Very carefully, because I think that you want to deliver the fans a faithful version of the book that they love. Yes, there’s a lot of extraordinary goings-on. So it’ll have to be done carefully.

How do you think the movie franchise has been affected by using different directors? I think it’s good for it, because I think there’s a tremendous amount of coherence thanks to a very strong cast, who care about getting their characters right. And I think that the fans’ interested will be un-dimmed, and I think it’s interesting to see the different visual approaches, different stylistic versions, different choices that different filmmakers take.

Are you excited to see Breaking Dawn, or will you inevitably be thinking about how you would have done it differently? I’m really excited to see it. I’m very excited to see it. I’m sure he’s done a really great job. I think that he’s, amongst other things, a much better action director than I am. So I’m really keen to see the action sequences. I think that there are a lot of things that I would have been very daunted by the prospect of shooting, which he will have taken in stride. I’m excited to see it whenever I can.

Oh my Chris Weitz.  How I love thee, but yeah the frolicking vampire scene?   Everyone laughed in the theaters (including me) at that scene.  I imagined Bella hunting a deer or something.   I still love you!

I’m still mad that Rob, Kristen or Taylor are not doing the commentary with you.  I don’t care how funny Peter Lambert is!

Here’s an AWESOME fan encounter with one of our newmoonmovie.org readers at the New Moon premiere in Los Angeles last November!

I just thought I’d share these photos with you, my name is Emma from Australia and I won a competition to the premiere of New Moon in LA back in November. I took my good friend Kathryn (who is also a huge Twilight fan) and we got to go to the after-party and managed to get some awesome pics with some of the cast. I couldn’t get over how lovely and down-to-earth they all were and very willing to have fan pics with us! Nikki Reid and Anna Kendrick were especially lovely, spending the time to talk to us and answer our questions (which I’m sure they have heard thousands of times before!).

We got to meet more of the cast in the actual movie theatre, including Robert Pattinson *swoon* who was just as gorgeous in person as he looks on camera. It was honesty the best night of my life and it still feels like a dream but I’m so glad I got the opportunity and also got to meet so many other Twilight fans that will be friends for life.

Congratulations Emma!!  Lucky lady! That is amazing.  Great pictures!  I just love our Twilight cast.

Thank you Emma for sharing your story and pictures with us!

Check out the rest of Emma’s pictures after the break!

A lucky winner won a terrific prize via Twitter & Summit Entertainment.  Twitter follower Jenny Brutal  won the prize of  a phone call from Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz!  Weitz answered some wonderful questions, and talked about some really cool unknown facts of New Moon.

How nerve-racking was it to know you had to relocate several location for New Moon?

A.) It was really nerve-racking because I thought people would notice and be upset, it was a puzzle to get it just right. The outside of the school is all CGI, we built the stairway for the school and took stills. In the Cullen’s house I also tried to show different rooms in the house to add to the feeling of the house. When Taylor was traveling during Twilight a fan gave him a hand-carved Native American ornament. We used that ornament in Jacob’s room in New Moon.

How did you decide to shoot the scene where the months are passing by, considering the books only name the months that pass?

A.) We originally thought we could use a blank screen with names of the months passing but felt that it was best to portray depression visually. CGI was used and the windows were covered by green screen. We used a robotic camera for revolvement to mimic the original hand camera as much as possible. I’m not sure if you noticed but with each revolvement the room changes, there are less pictures of her friends and the room gets more sparse.

Were there any scenes that you would have loved to see in the film but never made the final cut?

A.) Yes, one scene. Theres a scene with a motorcycle crash that gives more of a sense of danger. The reason why it didn’t make the final cut was because of weather reasons, it was just too sunny to be considered Forks. The DVD will include that scene as well as extended scenes. Some of the extended scenes include more of Edward’s visit to the Volturi concerning his immortality and more from the scene between Carlisle and Bella. [when he was stitching Bella up.] In one of the early drafts of the script this scene was not in the movie. Immediately I knew that had to change, it was essential to the story line.

How lucky is she?  I love the fact that Chris gave us a little more DVD info.  Check out Jenny’s page  for the complete Q & A session.
