Will Twilight fans be surprised by New Moon?
I don’t know if they’ll be surprised; I’m hoping they’ll walk out of the theater happy. I was a fan of the book and am very pleased with how the movie came out. The Cullen family isn’t featured as prominently [as in the first film]. New Moon is focused more on the werewolf side of this small town. Also, Chris Weitz directed New Moon and his vision is different from [Twilight director] Catherine Hardwicke’s. It’s not the same as Twilight, but it still has its edge.

Is the Facinelli household on Team Edward or Team Jacob?
When I asked my three-year-old what she liked about Twilight she said Edward.

How has Twilight changed you?
I’ve definitely got more people asking me to have a picture taken with them. The fan base is fantastic. They are very loyal and giving. Some people will fly in from other states just to come meet me.

Do you have a lot of moms as fans?
The fans span all ages. It’s not like more of the moms like me. They love the whole Cullen family.

How do you balance family and work? Any minute I have off, I try to get home. Last year I flew into L.A. on a Friday morning, picked up my kids from school, put up the Halloween decorations, had dinner with them and got back on a plane that night to go back to film. But it was worth every minute that I got to spend with them. I try not to go more than two weeks without seeing them even if it’s only for a day. And we also have Skype. At least we get to see each other! Sometimes we’ll even eat dinner together. I’ll be eating ramen noodles and they’ll be having a wonderful home-cooked meal.

As working actors, you and Jennie both have incredibly demanding schedules. What’s the key to your successful marriage?
We take it one day at a time. My theory: Don’t throw in the towel in a relationship if you’re having rocky times. You’re just going to have to start over with somebody else and then you’re going to have rocky times with them. Every time we’ve ridden through the rocky times, our love’s gotten deeper. At this point we’ve been together 15-odd years and I can’t imagine trading that time for somebody else.

What’s up next for you, aside from the Twilight series?
I’m filming Nurse Jackie through December. There’s the possibility of a fourth Twilight [film]. I’ve written three scripts and hopefully they’ll eventually get set up.

For a long time I kind of convinced myself I wanted to be a lawyer. I never did any plays in high school. I was quite shy actually.

And then I went to one year at St. John’s University, and I’m studying pre-law, and I take an acting 101 class and I love it.

I remember there was a kid in the class and he said, “This is fun, but what are the chances of us actually ever being an actor?” I kind of got mad at that, and that’s when I made the decision that I was gonna be an actor, and I said, “I don’t care if it takes me six years to start getting work.” I was just that passionate about actually doing it, and I didn’t like the fact that this kid said that we couldn’t.

I think I had natural instincts, but I was also stiff as a board when I first started out. I also had a really thick New York accent at the time. I was like “My Cousin Vinny,” so that was very limiting, but you know, NYU knocked that right out of me.

People always ask me if I have any advice about going into acting, and I say, “Don’t have a backup plan, because you’ll use it.” I didn’t have a backup plan. I was 15 credits shy of graduating college, so for me it was sink or swim.

Extremely happy PFach didn’t become a lawyer.  We love him as Daddy C!!!  However, he does look great  in a suit.  I’d love to hear his My Cousin Vinny accent though.  “Hey, How ya doin’?”

In this in-depth article Vanity Fair sits down with America’s favorite doctor/dad Peter Facinelli, and  breaks down not only the Twilight Saga but also his personal life -

As the patriarch of the Cullen clan, have you assumed a similar fatherly role with the cast?

You know, on Twilight I feel like they looked to me as the father figure, but because we became so close, I’m more of an older brother now.

Has there been a difference in the way you interact as a cast since you filmed Twilight?

Rob[ert Pattinson] has more security guards hanging around him! [Laughs] Other than that, not really. We really enjoy each other’s company, and we’ve been working so much on this movie that we really haven’t had as much time to hang out with each other. We’re putting in these long hours and then just heading home. Usually we just try to catch dinner with each other then get back up the next morning and do it all over again.

You seem pretty dedicated to them, too, judging by your Twitter page.

You know, I love connecting with the fans because I’m a fan of the books myself. They’re all so dedicated and wonderful to me that I love to be able to give back. So if stopping for a picture or signing a book of theirs puts a smile on their face, then that makes me happy, too. I kind of go out of my way to make sure—if there are fans hanging around the set—to try to stop and say hello to them before I get in the van. It takes five minutes to make people happy. I love interacting with them.

Have any of your daughters seen Twilight?

All three of them have seen it! They’re ages twelve, six, and three. They love it. The 12-year-old has read the first two books, so she loves the movie. My 6-year-old loves it even more; she wants to watch it all the time! Now the 3-year-old, because the 6 year-old likes it, wants to watch it all the time, too. I asked her what she liked about it and she said, “I like the scary parts.”

Gosh this man is just as genuine as Carlisle himself! I agree he really treats the fans wonderfully.

Peter Facinelli was in New York City on Wednesday and attended the product launch of Sony Vaio Microsoft held at  Gustavino’s.  He happily posed for the the pale faced oddity troupe Cirque Berzerk.  Those pale faces follow him everywhere first vampires and now circus performers!

Dear Rob,

I recently received the signed New Moon book that you autographed for me in NYC while you were filming Remember Me. The wonderful ladies at the Morgan Stanley Childrens Hospital Fund especially Ms Chris and one of her friends spent alot of their own personal time and effort in getting this for me after contacting Ms C from Remember Me. I will always be truly grateful to them for this gift.

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time out of your busy life and schedule to sign this for me. It means more to me than you will ever truly know.

I am not sure how much you were told of me, but my name is Ms. MS and I am nearly 24 years old. I have a very rare lung disorder that causes my lungs to collapse at times witout any notice, and from the damage done to my lungs it has left me on oxygen nearly 24 hours a day. I can only take it off about 1 hour a day and a large percentage of my time is spent in a wheelchair as I can only walk short distances. They tell me my only other option is a lung transplant, scary right? This is a decision that I will have to make at some point but they tell me it will only give me an extra 5 – 7 years and well I just dont know. Anyway these are the breaks that life sometimes gives you.

You see I was lucky enough to win the Morgan Stanley Childrens Hospital raffle. They have looked after me since I was 16 years old which is when I first got sick. Anyway, one of the prizes I won was based around your favorite film and movie stars.

My wish was to try and either meet some of the Twilight stars especially you or go to one of your movie premieres.

Ms Chris from Morgan Stanley was trying to organize for me to come and meet you on the set of Remember Me in NYC this summer. I live in VB, but due to the timing, having to get everything worked out and the time to get clearance from your producers it was not meant to be.

I still am most grateful for the signed book from you. I will forever cherish your kind words as it gave some hope and that maybe one day things will work out for me too.

I also wanted to tell you that Peter Facinelli (Dr Carlisle from the Twilight series ) was at my local mall here in VB a few weeks ago as part of a Red Cross Blood Drive. How lucky was that right?

I got all dressed up made an effort and got my best friend to take me down to the mall wheelchair/oxygen and all . I waited for a few hours in order to see him and what a nice person he is even though he had been signing autographs for hours.

I had the pleasure of meeting him, taking a photo with him, and getting his autograph. I took my oxygen off and walked up to take the photo and I was shaking from my nerves I am sure he wondered what was wrong with me? .

I wanted to give him this letter and ask him to give it to you but I felt a little embarrassed and he was very busy. There were hundreds and hundreds of people lined up waiting to meet him.

I love how you both are so dedicated to your work and your fans. I have attached a picture of the book you signed for me in the summer and also the picture of Peter so you know that this letter is really the truth.

I would appreciate if you could acknowledge that you received this if by chance it actually gets to you .

You seem like such a nice person and I wish you all the best in life.

NewMoonMovie.org reader, Hollywood2Bklyn, had the awesome opportunity to attend the fundraiser held to support  Alex’s Lemonade (a charity fighting Childhood Cancer) with special guest Peter Facinelli (aka Carlisle Cullen) on Sunday September 20th, 2009.

Hollywood2Bklyn gives her detailed account of the event -

On Sunday, September 20, 2009 Peter Facinelli was at the Galleria at Crystal Run located in Middletown, NY. Just two hours north of New York City. The fund raiser was for Alex’s Lemonade which was established to help fight childhood cancer and I was there, (cringing every hour from the overly screaming teens) for the event.

As Peter tweeted, he flew into New York that morning after filming Eclipse Movie until the breaking dawn hours in Vancouver. With only having three hours of sleep, he was full of energy and personable to each and every fan; for the entire six hour event. I’m now even more enamored with the man.

When it was my turn, (after waiting in line for four hours in 3″ heels again. Yeah, I know I’m mental) I took the opportunity to ask a few quick questions that have been on several of our minds.

Alicia – Have you ever visited any of the Twilight fan sites like NewMoonMovie.org? (Of course I said our favorite web site as an example)

Alicia – So you haven’t see the comments of the Twi-fans that find your philanthropy so admirable?

He just smiled, laughs at that question and caresses my shoulder as he says thank you. Then our picture was taken.

After the picture was taken I look on as Peter autographs my New Moon calendar. I thanked him for spelling my name correctly and told him that Rob misspelled my name when I met him in NYC July while he was filming Remember Me. (That story was posted by Will on July 12, 2009 on NMM.org) Peter just laughs and says, “Rob has problems spelling HIS name correctly.”

With that laugh, I walked away feeling overly blessed by meeting two of the greatest Twilight actors. Now I’m gunning for Michael Sheen again when he comes back to NYC for the premier of Damned United this October or the next time Kellan or Ashley go shopping in the city. Keep those fingers crossed!
