Robert Pattinson offers his thoughts on the character he plays in his newly released film How to Be.
The film tells the story of Art, played by Rob, who is an aspiring singer-songwriter who has just been dumped and moves back home to live with his parents. He uses his inheritance to hire a therapist from Canada to come to England and be his “life coach.”
The role draws upon Rob’s real-life love of music, and he even contributed three songs to the film’s soundtrack.
‘How to Be’ is currently playing on demand on various cable providers via IFC Festival Direct. Visit www.howtobemovie.com for more information.
The Dish Rag has a new interview with Little Ashes director Paul Morrison, and he gives his perspective on Robert Pattinson’s pivotal role playing Salvador Dali in the film.
Dish Rag: Playing Salvador Dali is a daunting role for a young actor.
PM: Yeah, I don’t think Rob realized what he was getting into when he agreed to do it, but he really worked hard at it, he really grappled with it, and I think he’s done something very extraordinary. It’s so difficult to do, because you have to tread light all the time between playing Dali as a young lovable young man, which he was, and suggesting the kind of pastiche of himself that he became in later life, that he presented to the public in later life, and that’s a very tall order, eand I think Rob pulled it off.
Are you wondering where the stars of New Moon will go to after they finish their work in Vancouver and Italy for the Twilight sequel? Jaunted has roundup of what some of the stars will be up to after they’ve finished their New Moon duties–
New York City. Robert Pattinson, who plays the 104-year-old virgin Edward Cullen, will be shooting the romance “Remember Me” directed by Allen Coulter (“Hollywoodland”) and cowritten by “Rachel Getting Married”’s Jenny Lumet. What to tell your folks: You just really want to get into art, and where better to experience the art world than the galleries of Chelsea? Alone?
Chicago and the ‘burbs. Kellan Lutz (Emmett) will be shooting the new “Nightmare on Elm Street” in the sleepy suburb of Barrington, Illinois — and they could need some extra scared teenagers! What to tell your folks: You’ve landed a sweet part-time job at the Taste of Chicago. Even if they think you’re faking it, how will they ever find you at the city’s biggest food fair?
Vietnam. Jackson Rathbone (Jasper) will be shooting “The Last Airbender” for M. Night Shyamalan, in which he plays a stubborn teenage warrior opposite “Slumdog Millionaire”’s Dev Patel. What to tell your folks: Ooh. This is a hard sell! But there’s always the ol’ volunteering-to-boost-your-college-application excuse. Just make sure you actually volunteer somewhere so you have something else to talk about.
Robert Pattinson has a new interview for the Little Ashes film he is starring in, and he covers some of the craziness surrounding New Moon as well–particuarly, what he thinks of the constant press surrounding his every move:
12. How’s the energy on ‘New Moon’ compared to ‘Twilight,’ because for ‘Twilight’ no one was sure if it was going to do well and now, obviously …
Yeah, it’s scary. It’s a very, very different experience. Last time we were just kind of … it was so easy to get the entire cast together. We’d all have dinner almost every day and be able to talk about it freely and stuff. Now it’s quite difficult to even leave the hotel. And all these random little stories become someway, somehow newsworthy, so you have to be very secretive about everything. Even if you want to just clarify something in the script or something. It’s just strange. It’s just very different … It’s very strange when you’re aware of being observed, I guess.
13. Is that similar to how it was when you were filming ‘Potter’?
Oh, no, not at all. The thing about ‘Potter,’ because everyone was so young, there weren’t really any [gossip] stories. Plus, the way we were shooting it was so impossible to get any pictures or anything. It was so, so private. And by the time I was working on it, everyone working there had worked there for about five or six years anyway, so they all knew each other. So nothing was really newsworthy. There wasn’t a lot happening. It seems that on [the 'Twilight' movies], maybe because they’re a little bit older, it seems like every single day there’s a new story coming out. I also think that’s it’s because all of these sort of blog sites have become way more popular in the last few years than they were then. And I guess that’s where most of the gossipy things go to.
Aww, Robert Pattinson hates me! It’s only because we love you, though! Read the rest over at Moviefone.

Robert Pattinson signed some autographs for fans as he left the set for Bella’s House in Vancouver this morning. He looks so adorable when he is giggling! There’s also a slideshow from another fan where you can get a different angle.
Fandango has an excellent new interview with Robert Pattinson concerning his new roles as he plays Salvador Dali in Little Ashes and Edward Cullen in New Moon. He talks a bit about how things are going with New Moon so far–
Pattinson: The interesting thing about this one is that so much of my character is in Bella’s head. It’s based on a mixture of memories and nightmares. Bella thinks she is going mad. I get to do some really creepy stuff. In other words, Bella is really frightened of [her hallucinations]. It’s really, really different than Twilight. I think that a lot of people will be kind of scared by this one. I wanted to try and put that into Twilight but I couldn’t really find a way to make Edward scary.
Fandango: You contributed a couple of songs to the Twilight soundtrack. Are you still pursuing music, and will you be doing more for New Moon?
Pattinson: I’m in talks to do a soundtrack for another movie, composing. I cannot say what it is yet, but I really, really, really want to do. I don’t think I’m going to have anything on New Moon, but never say never.
Before Twilight and New Moon, Robert Pattinson nearly gave up on acting. This seems ridiculous in retrospect given his current stardom, but People takes a look at this period in his life–
“He was thinking about giving up acting and maybe doing music solely when this role [in How To Be] came along,” the film’s director, Oliver Irving, tells PEOPLE. “He wanted to play the roles he wasn’t getting.”
Irving says that for Pattinson, being cast as the lead of role of an awkward, quirky young musician who hires a self-help guru to come live with him “got him back into the swing of things again.” Irving adds that after the Harry Potter films, in which Pattinson played Cedric Diggory, “He was looking for something more challenging.”
The Twilight star, 22, says he doesn’t quite understand his heartthrob status – or the fuss about his signature tousled do. “I don’t get it. It’s funny, you look the same for years and no one ever mentions it. Then suddenly it’s a big deal.”
Hugh Jackman has more kind words to say for Robert Pattinson to The Insider concerning their recent karaoke fun in Japan–
“That guy has got a voice on him, there’s an album coming,” Hugh says about the multi-talented young heartthrob. “If he wants to do it, there’s an album coming.”
As for what Hugh Jackman sang during karaoke, he said he started with Snoop Dogg!
