USA Today reports that Harry Potter is no match for the Twilight Saga -

Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in the teen-vampire romance series, entered the list at No. 1 on Aug. 2, 2008. Its sales and those of Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse, the first three books, have remained staggering.

This week, Meyer’s novels are Nos. 4, 5, 6 and 7 on USA TODAY’s list.

Rowling, overall, has sold more books than Meyer — her seven-book series about boy wizard Harry Potter has 143 million copies in print in the USA, while Meyer has sold 40 million copies of her four books. But Rowling can’t match Meyer’s control of the list.

Breaking Dawn and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the two authors’ fourth installments, entered the list at No. 1, but Meyer’s series has had more staying power.

The Twilight books have stayed in the list’s top 10 for 52 consecutive weeks. They held the first four spots a total of 13 weeks in the past year.

Rowling’s first four Potter books were top 10 for 13 consecutive weeks, 24 weeks total, for the first year after Goblet’s publication and held the first four spots for two weeks.

Breaking Dawn broke the first-day sales record for publisher Hachette at 1.3 million copies.

Based on aggressive marketing of Meyer’s series, this November’s release of the film version of New Moon and the upcoming holiday gift-buying season, Twilight books could dominate the list well into 2010.

In an attempt to burn down the landmark wooden Forks Spartan sign, arsonists failed and luckily only burned a wooden planter box. No one was injured.

This sign is very important to the small town of Forks, Washington. As we all know, that is where Stephenie Meyer based the Twilight Saga out of. And Forks High is where the main character, Bella Swan, attended.

The Forks Forum article states -

“After investigating we found not only was the bench on fire, but the arsonist tried to burn down the Forks High School sign. A one foot in diameter charred area was found behind the sign. Also found was a broken window on the north side of the high school.”

Lee said the Forks Police Department has a person of interest who was seen in the area.

It was the Volturi, I’m 77.3% almost sure of it.

In all seriousness, we sincerely hope they find the losers person or persons responsible for this.

18-year-old Farah Madi wowed the people over at MTV so much with her Grad Class’09 tribute to Twilight, she won the opportunity to be a guest reporter at Twi-Con. On Friday night she had the spectacular seats up front during a 100 Monkeys concert. Who just happens to have Jackson Rathbone, aka Jasper Hale, as a band member

Farah reports -

Once the 100 Monkeys hit the stage, the crowd went crazy! What was so cool was that they also tried to interact with the audience, getting everyone involved. One of my favorite things that they did – other than singing – was when Jerad Anderson and Ben Graupner were passing notes to each other and Jackson pretended to be a teacher and told them to read it out loud! Another fun part was that Jackson was wearing a hat, and once the fans told him to take it off, he listened!

The band was so energetic; they kept jumping around and telling the fans to dance along with them. Ben G. was constantly jumping, clapping and playing around. At one point he even laid on the stage! It was a crazy concert! They sang many songs, mostly improv-heavy, sometimes without even stopping.

New Twilight DVD (3 disc special edition) comes with extras, and songs from the New Moon Soundtrack. Which was created just for France.

According to my ‘rough’ translation (yes, I am Canadian, but I am not bilingual!), the set comes with 4 tracks from the New Moon Soundtrack! Also has exclusive Twilight bracelet and two rings, and a Twilight special edition collectors box.

We previously reported that a German  reality TV Show, Mission Hollywood, was offering a role in one of the films of the Twilight Saga to the final contestant.

Sabrina Frank is the lucky winner of the contest. She will appear in The Twilight Saga – Eclipse. It is uncertain as to which role she will play. Perhaps Bree?

Twilight is nominated as Blockbuster of the year. While Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, was nominated for Best Actress. Michelle Sheen, who plays Volturi leader Aro in New Moon, was nominated for Best Actor in Frost/Nixon and The Damned United.

Voting closes on August 28th, 2009. The results will be announced in October.

What if the cast of Twilight was totally redone with big-name actors? Television Without Pity takes a look at this possiblity and submits their dream cast for the saga.

Some of the choices include Emma Stone for Bella Swan, Henry Cavill for Edward Cullen, Jay Hernandez for Jacob Black and Evan Rachel Wood for Rosalie Hale.

This week’s Entertainment Weekly is all about vampires, with a picture of Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen on the cover.

They choose they 20 Greatest Vampires of All Time–Edward Cullen comes in 4th.

There is also an interview with Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer.
