Hurricane Bells’ song ’Monsters’ was featured on the New Moon soundtrack. Spinner has the music video for ‘Monsters’. There are no clips from New Moon in the music video.
A supernatural video treatment is fitting for the song, which can be found on the soundtrack for ‘New Moon,’ the second film in the vampire-werewolf world of the ‘Twilight’ series. The track didn’t make it onto the debut Hurricane Bells album, ‘Tonight Is the Ghost,’ but it did come to fruition during the same time period.
“‘Monsters’ was written a while back, along with a batch of songs that later became the Hurricane Bells record,” Schiltz explains. “I liked the combination of the kind of catchy little melody with the more sinister lyrics. I recorded it in 2008 and decided it didn’t fit on ‘Tonight is the Ghost,’ so I left it off, and eventually the ‘Twilight’ folks got a hold of it.”
The music video does not have Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen strutting across the school parking lot or any New Moon clips. *sigh* It is still a cute music video and I love the song.

Cah ching! Twilight Saga’s Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson made it amongst some heavy hitters in Vanity Fair’s list of Top Moneymakers of 2009. Here’s how it’s broken down.
So how do we tote up our final earnings estimates? A few simple ground rules:
In tabulating up-front fees, we assume people get paid when filming starts; thus, only movies that commenced shooting in calendar year 2009 are taken into account. (That’s why we don’t count Brad Pitt’s $10 million fee for Inglourious Basterds, which began shooting in 2008.)
For those lucky enough to earn money on the back end, we did our best to determine whether they were gross-point or net-point players and applied our math accordingly. (Example: Pitt’s fee for Inglourious Basterds was an advance against 9 percent of the gross. With some $160 million in studio revenue, Pitt stood to collect a total of almost $14.5 million, minus his $10 million advance, leaving him with $4.5 million from the film for 2009.)
A star’s participation in DVD sales is taken into account, but that generally is small change, unless he or she is one of the few director-producer types who have negotiated exceptional deals. We have not counted royalties and other revenues when the figure is under $500,000. Nor have we counted money made in television; thus, for a major player in both film and TV such as Jerry Bruckheimer, his total 2009 earnings are millions of dollars higher. Since these numbers are estimates, however well informed, and by definition incomplete, they are presented for entertainment purposes only.
Here’s how much cashola our favorite couple raked in for 2009:
(WME)
Estimated 2009 earnings: $18 million
$7.5 million: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (fee for starring in upcoming third installment of vampire franchise)
$5 million: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (fee for starring in second installment)
$4 million: Remember Me (fee for actually starring in a non-Twilight film)
$1.5 million: New Moon (back end, based on worldwide gross of $661 million)
(Gersh)
Estimated 2009 earnings: $16 million
$7.5 million: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (fee for starring)
$5 million: The Twilight Saga: New Moon (fee for starring)
$2 million: The Runaways(for starring in upcoming Joan Jett biopic)
$1.5 million: New Moon (back end)
Is it me or does it seem like they should’ve made more? I know I’m bias lol. It must be rough having your paycheck broadcasted for the world to see. ![]()

Above is a picture of the amazing fan made Twilight Saga cake made by our very own Spectra and another close friend of mine, Tina.
The actual cake was Red Velvet cake and the pieces on top (the chess pieces) were made of chocolate! And trust me, this cake was GOOD! I know this because it was my birthday cake they made me for my surprise party on Friday!
My actual Birthday is today (yes — I’m a ground hog baby!). I just want to openly say on here – thank you SO much Melanie (Spectra), Tina, and Chrissy for doing something so thoughtful and giving me a wonderful Birthday party! I love you guys! Here’s a fantastic fan encounter of two newmoonmovie.org readers with Chaske Spencer (aka Sam Uley) at the Worcester Sharks hockey game!
Today was a ‘most excellent adventure’. Several weeks ago I was lucky enough to obtain two tickets to meet Chaske Spencer. This package included corner ice front row tickets to a Worcester Sharks game, 2 pictures of Chaske, AND 2 autographs! I invited fellow NMM member Snshyne to go with me, and (thankfully) she agreed.
Snshyne and I drove from Boston to Worcester (Ok, sort of like a Cullen), found parking and walked two blocks to the DCU Center (The Old Centrum), and entered the building. We waited in line for a while and before I knew it I could see Chaske sitting and signing autographs! He is tall, even when sitting. There were a lot of girls (of the under age variety I am guessing as they had adults with them) walking around wearing Edward shirts. Now I have to say, you are visiting a WOLF, not a vampire. Chaske is Team Jacob, so I thought it was a tad tasteless of those girls. I agree with LovesWolvesNVamps. I am without a doubt Team Edward, but I could never attend a wolf event in vamp attire. It’s tacky. You don’t wear Marc Jacobs to a Louboutin preview.
When it was our turn, I handed Chaske the glossy that came with the package deal and the New Moon Trading card of Sam carrying Bella out of the woods. I asked Chaske to sign the items with my silver sharpie instead of his black one. He signed both and if you look closely in the pictures you will see he signed right over Bella so I can just gaze at him and his signature.
More after the break!
