Breaking Dawn

In a new interview with New Moon director Chris Weitz, EW.com asks him about his favourite extras on the DVD  and talked about the series as a whole, including the Eclipse editor being replaced AND Breaking Dawn -

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What’s your favorite part of the DVD?
CHRIS WEITZ
: The fun part for me was to talk through it with Peter Lambert, my editor, who is a very funny man. We were able to discuss quirky moments we had while putting the film together. We had lived in a cave for so long assembling the footage, so we finally had a chance to get our yayas out. We didn’t say anything scandalous or mean about anyone, but it was fun nonetheless.

When did you manage to find the time to do this?
We did it in a moment during the press tour when we were about to go to a hoity-toity premiere in New York. I was in NY and Peter was five hours later in the middle of the night on a satellite line watching it from London.

What can you tell us about the six-part documentary?
Making this film was a massive undertaking to do in the course of this one year. There were so many elements that were new to the franchise: The really intensive CGI elements, the Italian shoot. I think it will be kinda cool for fans to see how the whole thing came together.

Is there anything fans will find surprising in the commentary?
They will probably be surprised that none of the kids are on the commentary. But they were on route between some crazy screening in the South on the way to the screening in New York, and the timing just didn’t work out. They will also probably be surprised how childish Peter and I are given the amount of responsibility we held.

Speaking of editors, we recently broke the news that they replaced the Eclipse editor with the editor on the first Twilight movie. What do you think about that?
In many cases, movies like this have two editors because of the sheer amount of footage. At the very beginning of the process, I think Summit expected me to have two editors. But I had a huge amount of confidence in Pete — we worked before on a cut of The Golden Compass that never saw the light of day — and in part because I felt I owed him one for sitting with me through my dark night of the soul. I also developed a tremendous respect for him and his judgment. He was the guy I immediately thought of to edit this movie. I also knew that we could handle the load of CGI and making this big tent pole movie and for me it was going to be better to work with one editor.

Any way you’ll direct Breaking Dawn?
If I amass some major gambling debts it could happen. I don’t mean to be glib about it. But here’s the thing: I think it’s gonna be two movies shot as one and it’s such a massive undertaking. I’ve now done two special effects-driven movies, which have almost broken my mind, and I have a two-and-a-half-year-old son. There are so many circumstances that militate against me doing it. Even though I’m tremendously fond of Summit, the studio, which is kind of an amazing thing to say, of Stephenie and of the actors.

What do you think of the actors and all of their upcoming projects?
I’m really proud of Taylor and the success he’s enjoying now. I’m looking forward to all his action movies. I haven’t seen Remember Me but I’m looking forward to seeing it. I have already seen The Yellow Handkerchief and Kristen is great because she’s always great, so I bet The Runaways is going to be fantastic. I’m incredibly pleased for Anna Kendrick. How brilliant is that? It’s really gratifying. They are nice people, I like them and I’m happy to see them do well.

I for one commend Chris for thinking of his son first. He probably could get to direct at least one part of Breaking Dawn (this is assuming it is two movies for sure). BUT he realizes  that his FAMILY is far more important. What a great man you are Chris!! BUT I would still like to see him help out in some way. He truly loves the series. And isn’t some directly just looking for the next cash cow, IMO.

StyleMePretty.com is featuring an absolutely beautiful Twilight and Breaking Dawn inspired Wedding Tablescape  created by event planners Lina Wallace and Heather Ham.

Here is what Lina and Heather had to say about this beautiful Wedding shoot -

We mainly took our inspiration from the fourth book in The Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer, Breaking Dawn, in which the two characters Bella and Edward get married. The wedding was described as taking place at the house where Edward and his family live in the woods surrounded by all white flowers. We also took inspiration from the iconic cover of the first book where hands are holding an apple. Apples were used as escort cards, candleholders, a cake topper, and our signature beverage, hot apple cider.

For our ceremony setup we had floating rose heads and crystals hanging from a tree with a simple white rose petal aisle.

For the bouquet, we used peonies, roses, lisianthus, dusty miller and bluporum tied with a simple white ribbon that had the words “so the lion fell in love with the lamb” written by our calligrapher, Calligraphy Katrina.

Melody of Sweet and Saucy designed the cake. She took our themes and ideas and made a cake that is truly unique and beautiful incorporating our color scheme as well as the branches and the apple of course.

For the favors, we had several options including buttons with “Team Bella” and “Team Edward”, as well as miniature green trees and pashmina wraps in coordinating colors.

For our main tablescape we used all white flowers (roses, lisianthus and hydrangea) as well as some greenery (dusty miller and bluporum and a few succulents). We incorporated apples as candleholders as well as using floating candles in glass containers and silver candelabras. We had a lace table runner made by Sashes of love placed down the center of the table. We had menus made by our calligrapher with each guest’s name (Bella, Edward, Alice, Emmett, Esme, Carlisle, Rosalie and Jasper). We used a chocolate brown satin ribbon with a crystal broach at each place setting.

We also decided to do a “Luxe for Less” look to show brides how they could take a high-end tablescape and interpret it into something more reasonable for those concerned with their budget. Instead of the rented wooden tables we used a standard linen in camel. We used wooden folding chairs in an antique finish and used a single candelabra with a few floral centerpieces for a similar effect as the main tablescape.

We wanted to bring Bella and Edward’s wedding to life similar to how it is described in the book. We’ve seen other inspirations that are very gothic and dark using reds and blacks, but we wanted to show our interpretation of what their wedding would really look like with delicate, light, airy details.

Making Of spoke with the Twilight Saga producer Wyck Godfrey on making the Bella’s cliff jump sequence and a little information on Breaking Dawn.

Aw, poor Kristen.  She is a trooper!  The cliff jump is another favorite scene in New Moon with Grizzly Bear’s Slow Life playing.

Okay, so they have every intention on making Breaking Dawn, but we just don’t know when still.

Breaking Dawn MovieVariety has a new article that sums up a lot of the rumors that have been swirling about Breaking Dawn lately.

Will it be made? Will it be two movies? Who will direct? Is the full cast returning?

One of those hurdles is figuring out whether “New Moon” director Chris Weitz will respond favorably to overtures from the film company and the cast to shoot two more films, back to back.

Summit execs would not comment, but multiple sources said the company wants to go the two-film route, which means reopening negotiations and securing approval from the author. It also means making new deals with a principal cast that is only locked up for four films. If “Breaking Dawn” becomes two pictures, all of the key cast members will get fat raises, and the three principals — Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — could land paydays in the eight-figure range.

As always, take all of this with a grain of salt till it’s all official. But it’s hard not to speculate after New Moon has crushed so many records at the box office over the last 2 weeks.

MTV has a short interview with New Moon-er Kellan Lutz (aka Emmett Cullen). In the interview Kellan expresses the desire to continue working on the Twilight Saga. And would be more than happy to film a 4th and even a 5th Twilight Saga movie! There have been a lot of rumors floating around that Breaking Dawn will be split into 2 separate movies.

Dear Summit: What is the hold up? Why must you leave us all hanging?

That’s all.
